221 | Islam believe christ except for what? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 26250
it is definitly inviting confussion into the church. Whenever you are inviting in something that is not of God into your church you are inviting in Satan and as we know Satan is the author of confusion. To those young believers it can have a detrimental impact on their spiritual walk. prayon

Terms of Use: "...You agree not to post, email or otherwise transmit any Postings that are unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable...." You agreed to the tems of use of this forum. In your last couple postings you have become insulting and have totally lost your humility that you are told by Jesus to have. I believe that you owe others an apology, especially kalos, and that you need to be very critical of your own postings before you post them. This is not a place to boast of your accomplishments this is a study forum. It is to study the word of God so that we may grow to be closer to Jesus Christ our Lord. I encourage you to follow the terms of use set forth by Lockman. What truly counts is not how much knowledge you have but how humbly you serve Christ with it. prayon |

223 | beating your child with a rod | Prov 23:13 | prayon | 25696
I understand where you are coming from and that is good for some and it oc course it depends on the age of the child. One point to remember though is that many parents loose their temper when they are disciplining a child and become excessive with the rod. When you use a hand on the back side you will feel it too and have a reminder when enough is enough. People also have the tendency to use inappropriate items such as cords, 2x4's, ect. Physical injury is very easy to cause when using an object such as a rod. Much less physical harm is the case of hand to back side contact. And of course you should never strike a child any where except the back side. prayon

Greetings Searcher, Why is it that you think the hand should not be used to discipline? prayon
225 | Will we go thru the tribulation | Rev 3:10 | prayon | 24965
Greetings Nolan! My question to you is if Rev 3:10 states that He "will keep you from the hour of testing" how can we be here during the hour of testing? How can He keep you from it but put you through it at the same time? prayon
226 | About the Forum | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 24689
Greetings Brian.g! As Hank said we all stray now and then - but you have something that most who stray don't have - a sincere apologetic heart and we all admire that. prayon
227 | "queen of heaven"? | Gen 1:1 | prayon | 23789
Greetings Nolan! In addition, Ishtar in my commentary states that she was a Mesopotamian goddess of love and war. After the fall of Jerusalemm the refugees from Judah who fled to Egypt continued to worship her (chap. 44). A papyrus dating from the 5th century BC found at Hermopolis in Egypt, mentions the queen of heaven among the gods honored by the Jewish community living there. prayon
228 | Weekly Communion? | 1 Cor 11:25 | prayon | 22703
Some churches partake of the Lord's supper once a week, some partake of it once a month. I repeat what Nicholson said earlier: The main question is not HOW OFTEN we are going to partake but how sincerely and with how much clear understanding we do it is that really matters. prayon
229 | 3 things that are a must for ministers | Titus 1:7 | prayon | 22354
Yes I do. But would that come before truly being called? Or before a Godly nature? Or maybe before a firm grasp of the word? There are so many things that are a must for ministers I don't believe that you can limit it to just three. Also I think that the brokeness would go under being humble. You can't be humble unless you are broken daily or even once in a while. prayon
230 | 3 things that are a must for ministers | Titus 1:7 | prayon | 22352
Greetings CDBJ! I do agree that that is very important also. I was thinking in my response that if you weren't born of the spirit God would not call you into that ministry. I should of said TRULY called of God - not just think you were. prayon
231 | Releases from tithing 10 per cent? | 2 Cor 9:7 | prayon | 22143
Greetings Johnny. I believe we have been released from the law of Moses. But I have always been taught that we are to tithe 10 percent of our earnings although you have made some valid pooints I have never thought of. What scripture points to the fact that tithing is under the law of Moses? By the way I am a saved, sactified and filled with the Holy Ghost Christian. prayon

PART TWO: Most Christian parents would not accept false doctrine or a lower moral code from someone else's teaching, but we will more readily accept it when it is packaged as entertainment. Through even just the sheer time we spend with ungodly entertainment, whether it be books or the media, don't we enter into a type of partnership with what entertains us? Of course we do. When we allow images and sounds that we know are wrong into our lives, we are open game for Satan in Spiritual Warfare. It is also spiritually confusing to say on one hand that God's word is supreme and then allow our kids to possess occult playthings. God's word demands that we stand up against and expose the many deceptions that the devil is foisting on society (Eph 5:7). Scripture demands that we have nothing to do with the deeds of darkness (Eph 5:11). Christians are not to make decisions based on what culture deems good or bad, nor are we to accept the lessor of two evils while staying clear of the 'really bad stuff'. We are deceiving ourselves if we think that we actually remain neutral to the content while being entertained by stories and scripts inundated with evil. Whenever we voluntarily invite the wrong influences, images, activities, conceptions, or thoughts to have safe harbor in our lives, we are short-circuiting God's plan or us to be "more than conquerors" (Rom 8:37). One pastor commented that "Allowing our children to read Harry Potter books is allowing them to read nothing more than spiritual pornography". We need to instill values and character in our kids that will give then the ability to face the worldly pressure that they will face while growing up. We must be very diligent about what they are reading and watching. (The above came from a book by David Benoit and Eric Barger called "The End Time Occult Invasion: Entertaining Spirits Unaware"). For more information on this subject or any other covered in Deut 18:9-14 I recommend the following website: www.gospelcom.net/menconi/index.html prayon |

240 | Hebrew? | Ex 1:15 | prayon | 19311
Greetings, What I was trying to say and did a bad job of was it is possible that the midwives were Egyptian. I wanted to see if anyone had any opinion that they were or weren't. My reasoning is this: when the midwives are first introduced they are called Hebrew midwives, which suggests that they were Hebrew. But actually that can mean that they were midwives who were Hebrew or that they were midwives to the Hebrew people. Actually they were probably not Hebrew since if they were, Pharaoh couldn't of expected compliance and must of realized that his plan was doomed from the start. Also in v. 16 he makes a distinction between the two when he said "when you help the Hebrew women in childbirth.." If they weren't Hebrew they must of learned about the Hebrew God and feared Him more than Pharaoh. Some other interesting points: To the Hebrew people sheppherds were the lowest of the low and Pharaoh would not of treated them with the respect that he did. Also, 2 midwives would not of been able to serve 3-500,000 people who were 'multiplying greatly'. More than likely they were administrative and had many midwives under them. They would had to of told the staff under them to kill all the boys if they wanted to go along with Pharaoh. How would they of gotten the staff to go along? prayon |
