Supplement to my previous statement: In an effort to be brief, I need to get to the bottom line. That is, we all need to realize this country, over the last several decades (my generation) has taken several turns for the worst. We've taken prayer out of our schools and ushered in a tremendous amount of violence into our video industry. For a long time, we took out the option for a person committing a capitol crime and receive a form of capitol punishment which is ordained by God. Now, our country is realizing its mistakes and we're starting to re-evaluate those mistakes but it's going to take a long time to reverse this course. Like the saying goes, you can't make a U-Turn with a battleship in just a few minutes or a few yards. Anyway, back to being brief. To sum it up, we all need to realize the tremendous example we've been given and reacquaint ourselves with our Lord and Saviour. Jesus had incredible patience. According to the scriptures, he spent his whole entire life without sin, yet he was angry with one single thing. It wasn't the way he was treated in that sorry excuse of a trial or the undeserved manner of his death. He got angry over the way His Father's house was being abused. We need to pick our battles and prioritize like He did. There are so many things wrong with this world but over all, I have to say this forum is a definite step in the right direction. We all should resolve to live up to the terms and conditions that we all agreed to when we signed up. About being a Bible Bully, we should realize that the Bible does a fine job of defending itself and God, its Author. Our job is to let the image of that same Author shine through us. At the end of every day of our lives, we need to be prepared to ask ourselves, did we bring glory to our God. Did we conduct ourselves in such a way, that we would be arrested for being christians in the 1st century? Think of what those folks went thru and our petty concerns pale in significance. Let's (including me) all resolve to leave the world a better place than we found it and the only way you can make certain of that is to answer those questions above carefully with a clear and forgivin conscience. Well, you've probably figured out by now, it's tough for me to be brief but if you take some advice from this old man and follow the admonitions above, this world will be better place. One last reminder and I'll hush, at least for now: Remember we're on a mission to forgive at least as much as we have received from the King of Kings. If we don't, I don't think we're going to receive a second chance, come judgement day, like that unforgiving fellow in the parable. |

I encourage you to keep looking and you'll find a group of christians following the Bible (NT) as closely as possible. I know I have and I've been around the world. Just got to persevere but be open minded. Keep studying God's word. Also, remember during this dispensation with Christ as the head, God doesn't want to see a "church building" made by man. The church must come from within. In other words, if you're a christian, you are the church. Your mission (or part of it) is to find others like you that just want to follow God's word and nothing else. You might even have to start up your own congregation like my wife and I did overseas. We had a few minor problems but overall, it was great. May God bless you in your search. Don't forget to keep praying for His guidance. |

I've found a much better approach is to develop a library containing several versions of the Bible. The NIV is pretty good but in my opinion, almost all the versions have one or two minor discrepencies including the original King James. I've found the NKJ to be a good version. Just remember, they're all translated by man and thus we have human error. But usually the defects are minor and don't mess up God's plan of salvation. They usually involve other controversial topics like the Mary, mother of Jesus and her virginity. Anyway, with this library of several versions, it's good to compare the versions on a particular passage or topic. If you're really serious about studying God's word, get a large concordance like Strong's and a Greek lexicon. Then you can go back to original Greek meaning. There's at least three kinds of love identified in the NT by the Greek writers: 1) Eros from which we get our word erotic. You can figure out this kind of love is just pure lust basically but it's beautiful when it's between a married man and his wife. 2) Philo is the Greek word for brotherly love as in family members, from which we formed the city name, Philadelphia. 3) Agape is the ultimate kind of Godly love that Jesus would have us aspire to; that which Gods loves, with no expectation or requirement of anything in return. It's the kind of love described in 1 Cor 13. I think there's a fourth type but I can't remember the details of that word. Sure beats the English language. You and I will tell the most precious being on this planet to us personnaly that we love that person and then turn around and we say we love pizza or ice cream. What a crazy world in which we live. Just another sidebar: Just before Jesus left this world, he asked his beloved disciple Peter, Do you love me, 3 times, using the Agape word the first two times. Peter's answer used Philo. Finally, on the thrid time, the Lord settled for Peter's answer. But both He and His Father would like to see us all graduate from this world or school of hard knocks and practice His kind of love. I'd like to think after getting help from the Holy Spirit, Peter did learn that lesson and did finally graduate along with all the other Apostles. God bless. |

I sure hope not. However, we are supposed to cling to our spose in preference to all other beings, including our parents and kids IF it comes down to that kind of horrible situation. Hopefully, we get ourselves married to a spouse who loves us enough to make life pleasant to all involved enabling us to enjoy our whole family. It seems many have forgotten some of our history. Did you know that 52 of the 55 signers of the Declaration of Independence were orthodox, deeply committed Christians? The other three all believed in the Bible as the divine truth, the God or scripture, and His personal intervation. It is the same Congress that formed the American Bible Society. Immediately after creating the Declaration of Independence, the Continental Congress voted to purchase and import 20,000 copies of scripture for the people of this nation. Patrick Henry, who is called the firebrand of the American Revolution, is still remembered for his words, "Give me liberty or give me death." But in current textbooks the context of these words is deleted. Here is what he actually said: "An appeal to arms and the God of hosts is all that is left us. But we shall not fight our battle alone. There is a jusst God that presides over the destinies of nations. The battle sir, is not to the strong alone. Is life so dear or peach so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it almight God. I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death." These sentences have been erased from our textbooks. Was Patrick Henry a christian? The following year, 1776, he wrote this "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great Nation was founded not by religionists, but by christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For that reason alone, people of other faiths have been afforded freedom of worship here." On July 4, 1821, President Adams said, "The highest glory of the American Revolution was this: it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity." Calvin Coolidge, our 30th President of the United States reaffirmed this truth when he wrote, "The foundations of our society and our government rest so much on the teachings of the Bible that it would be difficult to support them if faith in these teachings would cease to be practically universal in our country." In 1782, the United States Congress voted this resolution: "The Congress of the United States recommends and approves the Holy Bible for use in all schools." William Holmes McGuffey is the author of the McGuffey Reader, which was used for 100 years in our public schools with over 125 million copies sold until it was stopped in 1963. President Lincoln call him the "Schoolmaster of the Nation." Listen to these words of Mr. McGuffey: "The Christian religion is the religion of our country. From it are derived our notions on the character of God, on the great moral Governor of the universe. On its doctrines are founded the peculiarities of our free institutions. From no source has the author drawn more conspicuously than from the sacred Scriptures. From all these extracts from the Bible I make no apology." Of the first 108 universitites founded in America, 106 were distinctly Christian, including the first, Harvard University, chartered in 1636. In the original Harvard Student Handbook, rule number 1 was that students seeking entrance must know Latin and Greek so that they could study the scriptures: "Let every student be plainly instructed and earnestly pressed to consider well, the main end of this life and studies is, to know God and Jesus Christ, which is eternal life, John 17:3; and therefore to lay Jesus Christ as the only foundation for our children to follow the moral principles of the Ten Commandments? James Madison, the primary author of the Constitution of the United States, said this: “We have staked the whole future of our new nation not upon the power of government; far from it. We have staked the future of all our political constitutions upon the capacity of each of ourselves to govern ourselves according to the moral principles of the Ten Commandments.” Today, we are asking God to bless America. But how can He bless a Nationa that has departed so far from Him? Prior to Sep 11, 2001, He was not welcom in America. Most of what you read in this article has been erased from our textbooks. Revisionists have rewritten history to remove the truth about our country's Christian roots. You are encouraged to share this with others so that the truth of our nation's history will be told. If you mean to ask Bible students and to get a Bible based answer, it's important to recognize the most powerful and ultimately the decisive answer is God's from His Word. Now, mind you, I'm assuming you and all others reading this are truly and absolutely dedicated to going home to Heaven with God for eternity. Then, that presupposes that person is going to obey God and His instructions in His Word. You see, our first priority relationship is with God the Father and then with our fellow christians. Now of course, the next smart step for a man or woman is to find a mate with whom they can look forward to going to Heaven, for it's far easier if your spouse is there in your corner and your best soul-mate. After you've concluded that a particular person meets that criteria, it's always best to be quite certain so this decision should be slow in coming. Now this next point might be controversial but this is what I think: the only way we're going to truly please God is to make that firm committment and get married in the sight of both God and man, meeting the full requirements of the law. God has put a blessing on the proper and sincere governments across our world. We should do everything in our power to honor that blessing. If we're going to live in a particular nation and enjoy the benefits and bear the responsibilities of that nation, then we should be willing to follow the customs, laws, etc of that nation, including that of marriage. But remember with God, marriage was intended from the beginning to be a life-long proposition and above all, we do want to go to Heaven. Another big benefit of following God's plan my wife and I have noticed in our marriage: God's Word is a wonderful and perfect referee when needed. When both husband and wife are committed to going to the same Heavenly desitnation and constantly look up to God, it tends to reduce looking aside and arguing about the petty concerns thrown at us from the world about us. Another benefit to be considered is the example we set for our kids and our grandkids. It's difficult to explain the really big mistakes in your life; I know, I've tried. Remember we will MOST DEFINITELY reap what we sow. God bless you all. |

I just followed your request and checked out the website as you provide. But I only saw the word "partial" that one single time in the very first line so I like the others need a fuller explanation. Exactly what do you and Mr. Nee mean by "Partial Rapture?" Please understand, I'm not saying I believe in all this stuff about Rapture but I'm trying to maintain an open mind. As I've mentioned in other posts, Revelation is a very difficult book but in any case should be submissive while interpreting to the rest of the Bible. Most of the other Bible scriptures cited in my opinion seem to apply to the one and only end of the world, after which comes the one and only final judgement. But again, I'll try to be open minded about this but it is difficult. |

I wanted to post a response to Lilithcrown's statement but only because I'd like to see a resurgence of American patriotism but with a christian slant to it. I realize that some of our founding fathers, those involved in the original forming of our country and its government didn't all have a perfect set of christian values and they were first and foremost human. But my main purpose in posting that reminder about our country's history was to just let people know that we as a nation have most certainly experienced a tremendous down-slide in christian values. Don't misunderstand...I'd be the last person in the world to advocate that we need to recognize Christianity as the country's official religion. Once again, that's another big mistake fostered by the Roman Empire and we need to get away from following their lead. Our nation got off to a good start, not because of any official or national recognition of Christianity but because most Americans, 200 years ago at the very least had a healthy respect for God and His Book of love letters to us as His creation. Although many Americans in that time frame may not have been practicing and faithful christians, most of them were good, moral people. We as a nation need to recognize this gradual decline and once again turn our heads back toward our God and give Him what He is due. Worship in the manner with which you're comfortable, find people of like precious faith...just "go to church" somewhere. If we don't and choose instead to keep following this path of neglecting God and His Book, our children in the future might end up regretting that choice. You might know, in some circles, there is a fear that in the future, some of the countries to which we've been sending missionaries might be motivated to send their own missionaries back to this country to win us back to that very same God. I'm afraid I have to chime in on Dblessor's side on this issue. Sure, I guess we could all cite criticisms about the church on a national level. I've posted a few negative comments myself but the most important thing our Lord wants us to do is realize that there's always going to be sin in the world. There's also going to be a large number of those deceived into thinking they have found true Christianity. That's been going on since the first century. We can even read in Acts 13 about false prophets as follows: 5When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper. 6They traveled through the whole island until they came to Paphos. There they met a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus, 7who was an attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God. And everyone remembers the warnings from Apostle Paul to his son of faith, Timothy. So all of God's children everywhere need to understand God knew this would happen. We need to keep studying God's Word with an attitude of "better safe than sorry." So what does all this mean to you and me. In my opinion, it means we have to keep looking. If we see stuff that seems to make our worship less than what it should be, we shouldn't follow Cain's example and get angry about it. We should look around for the Abels in the world and follow their lead, most especially IF they're following God's Word. As always, God bless you all. |

I gotta say I don't really believe in this idea as it doesn't have any basis in the Bible.
