Subject: Christian Nation? You decide. |
Bible Note: I wanted to post a response to Lilithcrown's statement but only because I'd like to see a resurgence of American patriotism but with a christian slant to it. I realize that some of our founding fathers, those involved in the original forming of our country and its government didn't all have a perfect set of christian values and they were first and foremost human. But my main purpose in posting that reminder about our country's history was to just let people know that we as a nation have most certainly experienced a tremendous down-slide in christian values. Don't misunderstand...I'd be the last person in the world to advocate that we need to recognize Christianity as the country's official religion. Once again, that's another big mistake fostered by the Roman Empire and we need to get away from following their lead. Our nation got off to a good start, not because of any official or national recognition of Christianity but because most Americans, 200 years ago at the very least had a healthy respect for God and His Book of love letters to us as His creation. Although many Americans in that time frame may not have been practicing and faithful christians, most of them were good, moral people. We as a nation need to recognize this gradual decline and once again turn our heads back toward our God and give Him what He is due. Worship in the manner with which you're comfortable, find people of like precious faith...just "go to church" somewhere. If we don't and choose instead to keep following this path of neglecting God and His Book, our children in the future might end up regretting that choice. You might know, in some circles, there is a fear that in the future, some of the countries to which we've been sending missionaries might be motivated to send their own missionaries back to this country to win us back to that very same God. Following the advice of Joshua in the OT: As for me and my house, we will follow our Lord and we would like to have you all come with us. As always, God bless ALL the participants of this Forum. Yes, that includes Mr. Lilithcrown. Continue studying. |
