21 | why do we sin when sin has no mastery? | Bible general Archive 1 | Asis | 80718
A believer sins because they want to. Look at our position as believers. We are the righteousness of God. Romans 4:19-25 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: [20] He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; [21] And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. [22] And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. [23] Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; [24] But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; [25] Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. We are made righteousness just because we believe God. Romans 5:17-19 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) [18] Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. [19] For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Jesus through His obedience to God made us who believe God righteous. What is righteousness? The ability to stand before God without any guilt shame or condemnation. Here is the point of Romans 7 sin had the power over our flesh. We had no choice but to sin as long as we lived by the flesh. After describing his situation of the conflict between his body, flesh, and his mind paul cries out Romans 7:24-25 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? [25] I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. Jesus is able to save him from the control his flesh has over him. Why? How? Romans 6:6-10 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. [7] For he that is dead is freed from sin. [8] Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: [9] Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. [10] For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. WE ARE DEAD TO SIN. SIN HAS NO MORE POWER OVER US. We live for God. If I am dead to sin and yet I sin it must be because I want to. James tells us how sin comes into being in a believer. James 1:14-15 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. [15] Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. The thought comes in as temptation. If we continue to think about it it will give birth to action, sin. Our God is so awesome and loving that He does not place in the world without the means to follow His commands. 1 Cor. 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Note carefully this promise of God. There is no tempatation that will come upon you that is beyond your capabilities to overcome. So God is telling us that we need never think the second thought over a temptation. We can nip it in the bud. Once we expirience the reality of this promise, overcome a temptaion, we know that this is not a promise anymore but rather it is a reality in our life. If I did it once I can do it every time. If God is true that we can overcome temptaion no matter what it is every time. God said so believe Him. My flesh or old man died with Christ on the cross. Anything the enemy tries to fling at me through my mind is thrown at a dead man and a dead man cannot sin. Thank you Jesus. All this just because I believe. |

22 | why do we sin when sin has no mastery? | Bible general Archive 1 | Asis | 80759
ABSOLUTELY. Dying to the flesh is not a one time act. We must choose to crucify the flesh daily. We must take on the attitude that sin has no power over us (RECKON OURSELVES DEAD TO SIN) since we daily die to the flesh. We choose to walk by the spirit. When I realize that Jesus destroyed the power of the devil, Heb. 2:14 through Heb. 2:18 (KJV) 14Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. 17Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. 18For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. then I know that the only power the devil has over me is the power I give him. If we believe this is true (Heb 2:14) our behavior should reflect our thoughts. I am glad that God has chosen to transform me/us into His good, accepatable and perfect will by the renewing of my/our mind. All I/we have to do is choose Him over the world. And BELIEVE. Rom. 3:4 (KJV) 4God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. Are you/we letting God be true in your/our life? |

Thank you for pointing out how easy it is to be sucked up in religion miss the truth of the Word of God. I see that God is even cooler than I thought. I do not have to renounce my flesh every day, God placed it on the cross with Christ. I searched for a scripture that would justify what I said and could find none, only 1 Corinthians 15:31 came close. That scripture in context does not fit what I said. I am glad that iron sharpens iron.

26 | Who put the Bible together | Bible general Archive 1 | Asis | 83974
I know that the Torah (Old Testament) is not written in chapters and there are no verse identifications. I assume, and I know that can get me into trouble) that the original greek manuscripts were also without chapter and verse. Here is my question when did the bible as we have it today gain its form? Who decided to put it together like it is? The order of the books in the Old Testament are not in the order they are in the Holy Scriptures (Hebrew). An example is the books 1 and 2 Chrionicles are at the end of the Holy Scriptures and Job comes after Proverbs, to name a few. Any one want to do my home work for me? |

Watch out how you talk about God's wife. Jer 3:14 14Return, backsliding children, saith Jehovah; for I am a husband unto you, and I will take you, one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion. 15And I will give you shepherds according to my heart, and they shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. JER 31:30 31Behold, days come, saith Jehovah, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: 32not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day of my taking them by the hand, to lead them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they broke, although I was a husband unto them, saith Jehovah. 33For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel, after those days, saith Jehovah: I will put my law in their inward parts, and will write it in their heart; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know Jehovah; for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith Jehovah: for I will pardon their iniquity, and their sin will I remember no more. Remember the first believers were Jews. "To the Jew first. . ." |

30 | Detailed GkandHeb. meanings for Gentile? | Bible general Archive 1 | Asis | 86891
From the "Complete Wordstudy Bible" 1471. Goy; it originates from gewah (1465). It means person, inhabitant, populace, people, tribe, nation; the non–Israeli or heathen peoples. It is a general word used to refer to nations at large, particularly Gentiles (as distinguished from Jews). Scholars now believe that the basic idea of goy is a defined group of people or a large segment of a given body which is defined by context. The pl. form (goyim) is often used to refer to the pagan nations which surrounded Israel. They were defined politically, ethnically, and territorially (Gen. 10:5). In its general sense the term could even be applied to the descendants of Abraham (Gen. 12:2; 17:20; 21:18). Moses called Israel by that word (Ex. 33:13; Deut. 4:6, 7). Israel was a nation among other nations in the time of Moses, just as she was in Joshua’s time (Josh. 3:17; 4:1; 5:6) and in Jeremiah’s time (Jer. 31:36). The pejorative sense includes uncircumcised nations (Jer. 9:26). Goyim were wicked (Deut. 9:4, 5), abominable (Deut. 18:9; 2 Chr. 33:2), and idolatrous (2 Kgs. 17:29). God, through Moses and the prophets, warned the Israelites not to imitate the other nations (Deut. 32:28; Is. 1:4; Mal. 3:9). God planned to save them through the Messiah (Is. 2:2ff.; 11:10; 42:6; 60:10ff.). This is the Greek 1672. Héllen; gen. Héllenos, masc. proper noun. Greek. Distinction should be made, however, between the Greeks (Héllenes) and the Grecians (Hellenistaí [1675]). The Greeks were the Greeks by birth (Acts 16:1, 3; 18:17), or else Gentiles as opposed to Jews (Rom. 2:9, 10), while the Grecians (Hellenistaí) were foreign Greek–speaking Jews as distinct from those in Palestine who were called Hebrews (Acts 11:20). The Greeks and Hebrews first met when the Tyrians sold the Jews to the Greeks (Joel 3:6). Greece is noted prophetically in Dan. 8:21 where the history of Alexander and his successors is rapidly sketched. Zech. 9:13 foretells the triumphs of the Maccabees over the Graeco–Syrian Empire, while Isaiah looks forward to the conversion of the Greeks, among other Gentiles, through the instrumentality of Jewish missionaries (Is. 66:19). After the complete subjection of the Greeks by the Romans, and the absorption into the Roman Empire of the kingdoms which were formed out of the dominions of Alexander, the political connection between the Greeks and the Jews as two independent nations no longer existed. Rom. 1:14 speaks of “the Greeks and the barbarians” through which latter word reference is made to all those who are not Greeks. The implication is that the Greeks were sophisticated or wise while the others were ignorant. In Acts 18:17, the Greek inhabitants of Corinth are mentioned in distinction from the Jews. This distinction was often in the broadest sense referring to all those who used the Gr. language and customs whether in Greece, Asia Minor, or other countries. As Gr. was the prevailing language, the name “Greek” was often used to designate as Gentiles all those who were not Jews (Acts 16:1, 3; 19:10, 17; 20:21; 21:28; Rom. 1:16; 2:9, 10; 3:9; 10:12; 1 Cor. 1:22–24; 10:32; 12:13; Gal. 2:3; 3:28; Col. 3:11). In Acts 11:20 the TR has Hellenistás (1675), Greek–speaking Jews. In John 7:35, the dispersion of the Hellemnon (Greeks) is the dispersed among the Gentiles (cf. Sept.: Is. 9:11). Greeks are also spoken of as Gentile converts to Judaism or Greek proselytes (John 12:20; Acts 14:1; 17:4; 18:4). As a Jew I can say that it has been my experience that all those who do not believe in Jehovah (the God of the Jews) are considered Gentiles. To the Jew, even us believers do not believe in Jehovah God but in Jesus. Therefore we also are Gentiles. NON JEWS, for only a Jew can believe in Elohym. So to me before you believed you were a gentile and now that you believe you are not. In fact you are a Jew. Romans 2:28-29 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: [29] BUT HE IS A JEW, WHICH IS ONE INWARDLY; AND CIRCUMCISION IS THAT OF THE HEART, IN THE SPIRIT, AND NOT IN THE LETTER; WHOSE PRAISE IS NOT OF MEN, BUT OF GOD. Do you think that the scroll of Isaiah Jesus was handed in the synagogue was written in Greek? I find it hard to believe that the Jews who would not associate with the gentile except for business purposes talked in greek as their common speach. But if it is so it is so. Having been brought up with the almost paranoid fear of being assimilated into the culture in which I lived and losing my Jewishness I wonder if it was different then.
34 | What about the Temple, Veil after Jesus | Bible general Archive 1 | Asis | 88266
Welcome grayds First the Judaizers were believers in Christ who felt that all believers should practice the Jewish traditions in order to really be a believer. Those Jews who did not believe that Jesus was the a Messiah continued to practice Judaism as if nothing had happened and continue to do so today. Jesus did not abolish the Law He fulfilled it. Jesus is the Word of God made flesh. The word of God is the Law. It spoke about Jesus, and He is the fulfillment of everything the Word of God was trying to make us, if we followed it. Judaism is practiced today minus the sacrifices just as it was practiced at the time of Christ. The Jews are an active participant in the work of God for the return of Christ. Did they sew the veil back together? A very good question. I really don't know. My best guess would be that they probably did. I hope this helps you. Asis |

38 | Differing geneologies of Jesus? | NT general Archive 1 | Asis | 81192
The following is an excerpt from Fred John Meldau's "Messiah in both Testaments. (4 Christ’s Right to David’s Throne. Here is an intricate, involved puzzle: so involved it will take a little concentration on the part of the reader to follow the problem and its solution but it will repay the effort. Christ, the seed of David, must be virgin-born, and yet have a legal right to the throne of David despite the fact that one of Solomon’s descendants was a certain evil man named Jeconiah, of whom it was written that none of his descendants would ever rule in Judah (see Jeremiah 22:29-30); and despite the fact that in Israel the right to the throne was transmitted only through the male line: and Christ was born of a virgin! It is perfectly clear that Messiah will inherit “the throne of David” (Isa. 9:7; Jerem. 33:15-17; 25:5; Ps. 132:11; 1 Chron. 17:11,14). But, since He had to be born of a virgin, how can He get His legal right to the throne of David? And how can the roadblock erected by Jeconiah’s sin be circumvented? Who can untangle these apparently hopelessly confused predictions? Leave it to the Master Mind who both devised the strange prophesies and worked out their fulfillment. Remember, the prophet Isaiah said, “The zeal of the Lord of Hosts shall perform this” (Isaiah 9:7). Not only was the apparently impossible solved and resolved in JESUS THE CHRIST, but God has given us the complete record of how He did it in the genealogies of the New Testament. In Matthew’s genealogy, the genealogy of Christ through Joseph is given. This genealogy shows Christ to be “the son of David” so giving Him right to David’s throne and also “the son of Abraham” so giving Him the right to the Land of Promise, the territorial possessions given to Abraham and his seed. In Matthew’s genealogy, Joseph is seen to be in the REGAL line of descent from king David, down through Solomon. But Joseph was also a descendant through Jeconiah (also called Coniah) hence, succession to the throne for Joseph personally is barred. Matthew’s genealogical record is careful to show that Jesus was NOT, through Joseph, the “fruit of David’s body,” i.e., a direct descendant of David through Joseph. In Luke 3:23-38 Christ’s genealogy is given through Mary. (Heli was obviously Mary’s father, Joseph’s father-in-law, v.23). In the record Christ is shown to be the LITERAL “fruit of David’s body” through His mother Mary. But, and this is important: while Mary is in A ROYAL line from David, she was not in THE REGAL lineage, for she was a descendant of king David through Nathan, whereas the throne rights were to come through Solomon’s line (see 1 Chron. 28:5-6). Therefore, Joseph’s marriage to Mary before Christ was born was an absolute necessity and that is exactly what happened! “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. . . .And behold the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou SON OF DAVID, fear not to take unto thee Mary THY WIFE: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit” (Matt. 1:18-20). So, through Mary, Jesus the Christ obtained His literal descent from king David; and from Mary’s marriage to Joseph, who was also a “son of David,” He obtained His legal right to David’s throne, for Mary was Joseph’s wife before Jesus was born, so making Joseph Jesus’ legal father, His foster father. And, withal, the prophecy concerning Jeconiah was fulfilled too, for Jesus the Christ is NOT of the “seed” a direct descendant of Jeconiah. Can you think of anything more intricate and involved, and yet worked out with such precision. Joseph and Mary had to be the parents (foster father and mother) of Jesus the Christ: they were the only two people of that generation who could be, and fulfill prophecy about Messiah. And Joseph had to be married to Mary before Jesus was born, so He could get His legal right to David’s throne through Joseph. At the same time, Christ could not be a child of Joseph because of the bar against a descendant of Jeconiah. And though Joseph had to be married to Mary, yet Joseph could not “know” Mary as his wife until after Jesus was born, for He had to be born of a virgin! And the Divinely ordered fulfillment was perfect in every detail! This may explain why the two geneologies of Christ. |

40 | Ideas Urgent | NT general Archive 1 | Asis | 81195
Look about you. Look at the night sky. Look at the intricacies of your own body. When we look at the world and see the miracles of life. The animals, fish, insects, and us this cannot be the result of an accident. It is easy to believe what you can see. But God is not interested in us believing in what we can see. God wants us to walk by faith. He tells us faith is the only thing that pleases Him. To believe in what we can see does not require faith. John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Why because we believe by faith. We walk by faith. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Here is a analogy to ponder. I live in brighton Mi, 16 miles from Ann Arbor, MI. From my room Ann Arbor is invisible to me because I can not see it. But it is there all the same. God is here I just cannot see Him. Think about it. |
