23 | Is the NWT more reliable than the NASB? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 78128
To understand completely... to know intimately such as the joining of a man and a woman becoming one flesh. Much different from simply learning 'about' someone. It is a merging of spirit soul and body. A born -again believer can know God intimately and personally. God bless |

John 6:62-63 Suppose you see the Son of Man going back up to where He was before? It is the Spirit who gives life, the flesh is no help. The Words I have spoken to you are Spirit and Life, yet some among you do not trust. Yes, our growth once we are born again is progressive, less of me and more of Him, as I come to KNOW the Father intimately comes from the Holy Spirit teaching us the truth of the scriptures. This is a vain debate because it is founded on your statement "One learns or comes to know a fact from information." This is true of carnal things but not spiritual things. No my friend. One comes to KNOW (intimate personal relationship) through the Word and the Holy spirit. No person ever came to the spiritual truth of God's Word through rationalization and study but through the drawing of the Holy Spirit through conviction and the new birth (once one surrenders his life to Jesus Christ as saviour and Lord). To know God intelectually is not KNOWING God. All these 'theologians' are mere men. Some heard truth from the Holy Spirit and some did not, but if we are going to find truth it is between us and the Holy Spirit. Others can teach us intelectually, but only the Holy Spirit can teach us spiritually which is where I come to KNOW. One can compare all the translations of the world and still never come to the Way the Truth and the Life. God bless |

27 | What exactly must a person to be saved? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 79460
My friend, forgive me if I am wrong but I hear 'offense' in your tone. Let me explain something that my previous post may have not made clear. As a child of God, our first and foremost obligation is to love and to love is to spread the gospel-the good news of Jesus the Messiah's salvation. We would be doing you a grave injustice if we did not ask these questions and attempt to guide someone/anyone in the direction of the cross where salvation is obtained. Especially in this time we are in with relativism being taught as truth, are we obligated to ask. When you stand before the Lord, I do not want your blood on my hands because I did not tell you the truth. Actually the question," Why should I let you into my heaven?" has only one response that will be acceptable to the Lord: Because I am washed in the blood of the lLamb, Jesus the Christ. All our righteousness, all our justification has been given to us as a free gift through Jesus sacrificial death and His ressurrection wherein He sent the Holy Spirit and sealed our covenant. The righteousness and justification we possess through faith is HIS righteousness and HIS justifiction and we are 'clothed' in them by faith. God Bless |

Mpierce.. In study last night I was in somwhat of a quandry as to what scriptures I should reference as my statement coverd a broad spectrum of the new covenant. I decided to begin here... CJB translation Romans 3:19-27 Moreover, we know that whatever the Torah says, it says to those living within the framework of the Torah, in order that every mouth may be stopped and the whole world be shown to deserve God's judgement. For in His sight no one alive will be considered righteous on the ground of legalistic observance of Torah commands, because what the Torah really does is show people how sinful they are. But now, quite apart from Torah, God's way of making people righteous in His sight has been made clear-although the Torah and the Prophets give witnessto it as well- and it is a righteousness that comes from God, through the faithfulness of Yeshua the Messiah(Jesus the Christ), to all who continue trusting. For it makes no difference whether one is a Jew or a Gentile, since all have sinned and come short of earning God's praise. By God's grace, without earning it, all are granted the status of being considered righteous before Him, through the act redeeming us from our enslavement to sin that was accomplished through Messiah Yeshua. God put Yeshua forward as the kapparah (sacrifice of atonement) for sin through His faithfulness in respect to His bloody sacrificial death. This vindicated God's righteousness; because, in His forbearance, He had passed over(with neither punishment nor remission) the sins people had committed in the past; and it vindicates His righteousness in the present age by showing that He is righteous Himself and is also the One who makes people righteous on the ground of Yeshua's faithfulness. So what room is left for boasting? None at all! What kind of Torah excludes it? One that has to do with legalistic observance of rules? No, rather, a Torah that has to do with trusting (faith). Therefore, we hold the view that a person comes to be considered righteous by God on the ground of trusting(faith), which has nothing to do with legalistic observance of Torah commands. A word search and study of righteousness shows it is God's gift to us through Jesus. Romans 4:20-24 He did not by lack of trust decide against God's promises. On the contrary, by trust he was given power as he gave glory to God, for he was fully convinced that what God promised He could also accomplish. That is why it was credited to his account as righteousness... The scripture goes on to say that our account is credited likewise, through faith. Matthew 26:26 Blood of the new covenant 1 John 1:7 ...and the blod of Yeshua purifies (clesnses) us from all sin. Romans 5:8-9 But God demonstrates His love for us in that the Messiah died on our behalf while we were still sinners. Therefore, since we have now come to be considered righteous by means of His bloody sacrificial death, how much more will we be delivered through Him from the anger of God's judgement! We are cleansed through the blood sacrifice of Jesus, and received the Gift of God's righteousness. Then: Ephesians 1:11-14 ....the Good News offering for your deliverance, and put your trust in the Messiah were sealed by Him with the Ruach HaKodesh(Holy Spirit), who guarantees our inheritance... Does this answer your question? God bless |

I would like to speak to the statement that Acts 2 where they spoke of the things of God but had not prepared beforehand. The scriptures to take no thought what you will say...the Holy spirit will give you the words... in context is stating that we should not necessarily have prepared statements but should rely on the Holy Spirit to give us discernment in situations in order to know what needs to be said. Such an example is Jesus and the rich young ruler. Jesus did not give him the same response He gave Nicodemus because He discerned the difference in these two mens hearts. But when you compare Matthew 10 to John 14:25-26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. So inActs 2 the Spirit filled Apostles were speaking the words Jesus had taught them through the discerning guidance of the Holy Spirit. God bless |

inhisname, I suggest you take a minute and clarify your definition of works. Mark 16 tells us to GO into all the world and preach the gospel...and these signs shall follow them that believe... What is the believer's responsibility and what is God's promise? LAY hands on the sick and they shall recover...do you view laying hands on the sick as a work or act of obedience? Purhaps you could help my brothers here to understand you position by defining WORKS. Then you may have a better foundation for this discussion. God bless |

Hi inhisname... Again, clarify works.. Abraham BY FAITH in what God told him, leave this country because I have another for you and want to make you the father of that nation... Abraham Left because he had faith in what God said. Abraham's through faith LEFT the land of his father to go to the new land promised. God produced the manifestation of the promise..Issac which led ultimately to Jesus... Faith acts in obedience and God produces the result. Some here are calling Abraham's 'Leaving' a work and some are calling God's manifestation a work. By faith in God's word, Noah built the ark. First Noah believed, then he obeyed, then God produced the promise. When we hear God's Word and it (the Word) is mixed with faith...obedience that follows enables God to fulfill the promise. Had Noah said 'Yes God, I believe you are going to destroy the earth and I am told to build this ark so me and my family will be saved, but I believe you will save us even if I do not build this ark...they would have died. God's way in the earth is through planting the seeds of His Word, and we receive this Word and act accordingly by faith, He will produce the promised results. But not until faith acts according to the Word. Again faith without works is dead. Obedience by faith is the avenue God chose to bless His people. We believe, we act, God produces the result promised. God bless |

32 | Is speaking in tongues for today? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 81062
1 Corinthians 14:14 "What is it then? I will pray with the Spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the Spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also." Praying in the Spirit is praying in tongues. The reason I see this as praying in tongues is the qay it is written. Paul distinguishes between 'with the Spirit' and 'with the understanding as two seperate things. God bless |

"That is an interesting rendition of 1 Cor. 14:15:-" I believe that was what I said...Paul prays with the Spirit (in tongues) and with the understanding. However the Amplified does state it better than I did. "Paul is distinctly in favour of the use of the intellect in prayer." There is no doubt that Paul is teaching on the need to pray with the understanding but I would not use the words 'distinctly in favor of'. I rather view his as saying don't overemphasize tongues, because praying with the understanding is very important, as well. I base that on the fact that in context he is teaching that the Corinthians are leaning too heavily toward the charismatic and need to recognize that the gifts do not necessarily produce spiritual maturity. The point I was making was that there is such a thing as 'praying in tongues' as opposed to the 'gift of tongues' spoken in the public assembly. God bless |

34 | How I do to stop sinning? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 81482
Romans 6 10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. ceasing from active sin is a process. First one must recognize sin...Then repent of the sin. The above scriptures tell us we are dead to sin which means that it has no power to control us because through faith in Jesus Christ's finished work we have been set free from the controling power of sin. BUT...we must walk in or live our lives acknowledging that liberty. Reckon yourself dead to sin..reckon sin powerless in your life by faith in Jesus finished work. God bless |

35 | How I do to stop sinning? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 81574
Talib... The work Christ finished was death for all sin. If this were not true then as soon after we are born again we sin, we lose our salvation, if His blood only covered sin done before repentence and the new birth. Active sin remains a problem in our life when we toy with it, romance it, believe we are weak and inferior and it has power/authority/control over us. Scripture tells us 2 Peter 2-4 2.Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3.According as his divine power HATH GIVEN UNTO US ALL THINGS THAT PERTAIN TO LIFE AND GODLINESS, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4.Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Time spent with the Lord in prayer and meditation of the scriptures opens the door for the Holy Spirit to reveal the way out of temptations and testings. "I reckon myself dead to sin. Even after I reckon myself I still do active sin! Then I must recognise the sin I have done and repent of it? Hmmm. But that doesn't help me to be free of sin! I still continue to sin." Also: "What do I do to stop sinning?" As I stated first, this is a process of learning to recognize sin before we sin and choosing NOT to do it and NOT doing it through faith that the provision of strength to not sin has already been provided. However, as children we are steady learning. For new believers this may be a minute by minute task because some daily habits were sin based. Over the years the habitual should be mastered. and our mind is trained through use of the Word to recognize sin trip ups because our heart is becoming sensitive to God's heart and mind. We learn to work at staying in a prayerful state and to recognize the constant presence of the Holy Spirit to guide us, and should we sin He convicts quickly and we should repent quickly, and move on. The less we struggle to hold on to sin, the less hold it has on us. I heard a pastor say one time that when the mountain becomes bigger than God, the mountain will remain, but when our relationship is developed to the point that we recognize the truth that God is bigger than the mountain, the mountain will go. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Will there be a time in our carnal existence when we will be perfect through your own sinlessness? Not likely... But as we mature in our relationship and in the Word, sin should be the exception and not the rule. Through the sacrifice of Jesus, the Holy Spirit has been provided to guide/mentor us into less and less active sin. The problem is that some Christians believe sin still has power/authority over them. Not so.. Does that help? God bless |

inmyheart, I am so comforted by your response. It has so saddend me, as one who believes totally in the ministry of the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us into all truth, when other believers try to influence truth seekers to avoid teachings they disagree with. They encourage others to just take their word for it that these teachings are unscriptural, and heretic creating fear in them. Or to read books which talk 'about' the teachings rather than imparting to the seekers to search the scriptures, compare understanding and then ask the Holy Spirit for the revealed spiritual truth. Thank you for your courage to speak the truth here. Purhaps some will begin to reason scripture more and allow the Spirit of God to do the rest. After all, He is the only one who can change the heart of man. God bless |
