21 | Crusifiction of Christ | John 19:17 | childoftheking | 40770
I know you meant denominations but demonations is close (even though it's not a word) as it's right out of the pit of hell to teach that Jesus was not crucified on the cross. You should be asking the ones who are teaching that to provide you with scripture. Here's some more verses to compliment what heisthe1 posted. Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." KJV Thank you Jesus!! Phil 2:8 "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." KJV Acts 5:30 "The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had put to death by hanging Him on a cross." NASB (some translations say "tree") Acts 10:39 "We are witnesses of all the things He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They also put Him to death by hanging Him on a cross." NASB Acts 13:29 "When they had carried out all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb." NASB 1 Peter 2:24 "and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed." NASB Praise God!!! bgg |

22 | What does Fear God really mean? | Acts 13:16 | childoftheking | 35365
Hi Wak, To Fear God, or the Fear of the Lord certainly has to do with "awe" but it also encompasses the "fear" as we use it today. It can be defined as, but not limited to: awe, reverence, respect, and to fear morally or reverential respect. Proverbs 8:13 "The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Proverbs 2 1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. Fear of the Lord, as in the above verses (Yirah) is only found in the Old Testament Fear the Lord (Yare) is also only found in the Old Testament as in Proverbs 3:7 "Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil. Ps 145:6 “Men shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts, And I will tell of Your greatness.” The word awesome also comes from (Yare) which in the KJV is “terrible” and the Amplified version also uses “tremendous”. To Fear God as it's used in the New Testament would be (phobeo) which is from phobos; from phebomai) (Phobos) to frighten, i.e. (passively) to be alarmed; by analogy, to be in awe of, i.e. revere:--be ( sore) afraid, fear (exceedingly), reverence. Luke 7:16 ”Fear gripped them all, and they began glorifying God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us!" and, "God has visited His people!” (Phobeo) from a primary phebomai (to be put in fear); alarm or fright:--be afraid, exceedingly, fear, terror. Luke 23:40 ”But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?” Please correct me if I am mistaken here. Hope this helps bgg |

23 | speaking in tongue or other tongues | 1 Cor 14:1 | childoftheking | 37524
Hello Greg, This is a much debated subject and you can find many posts by typing in "speaking tongues" in the quick search window, top right of the page. There are tongues for personal edifictaion: 1Cor 14:2 "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries." 1 Corinthians 14:4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. KJV Tongues for interpretation: 1 Corinthians 14:5 "I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying" KJV Tongues for unbelievers: 1 Corinthians 14:22 "Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe." KJV 1 Corinthians 14:39 "Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues." I read a good book concerning this subject called " The walk of the Spirit, The Walk of Power" by Dave Roberson if you care to check into that. Love in Christ bgg |

24 | Ephesians 5:4 what is coarse joking? | Ephesians | childoftheking | 37685
Hello GME, Eph 5:4 "and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which Bare not fitting, but rather giving of thanks." Coarse jesting is from the Greek word "eutrapelia" from a derivative of the base of troph - trope (meaning well-turned, i.e. ready at repartee, jocose); witticism, i.e. (in a vulgar sense) ribaldry:--jesting. ribaldry: "Behavior or language bordering on indelicacy" It means, we shouldn't be involved in inappropriate joking, we are to abstain from raciness. Notice in the meaning it says "in a vulgar sense". God gave us a sense of humor. Our humor should not have to be censored. It should be fit for all observers. What we may have thought as funny before we were saved should not "tickle our funny bone" anymore. Neither should we listen to or read such things. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 "Abstain from evil [shrink from it and keep aloof from it] in whatever form or whatever kind it may be." Amplified 2Cor 5:17 “Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” In Christ bgg |

25 | how do you grieve the holyspirit | Eph 4:30 | childoftheking | 37519
Greetings ssv.1 Grieve comes from the Greek word "lupeo" which means: to distress; reflexively or passively, to be sad:--cause grief, grieve, be in heaviness, (be) sorrow(-ful), be (make) sorry. If we read all around that verse, (start around verse 14 and read through to the end of the chapter)such as in the context of, we see that it refers to believers, who grieve the Spirit by inconsistencies as in corrupt or worthless conversation, 31)“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:” The Holy Spirit does not teach that and does not want to hear it or see it. "we must not do that which is contrary to his holy nature and his will; we must not refuse to hearken to his counsels, nor rebel against his government, which things would provoke him to act towards us as men are wont to do towards those with whom they are displeased and grieved," MH Love in Christ bgg |

26 | why do they say we are in the end times? | 2 Thess 2:3 | childoftheking | 41458
Hello Hopeful Lady, As far as I can tell, Paul did not think that they were in the end times, the Thessalonians did. 2Thes 2:2 "Not to allow your minds to be quickly unsettled or disturbed or kept excited or alarmed, whether it be by some [pretended] revelation of [the] Spirit or by word or by letter [alleged to be] from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has [already] arrived and is here." Amplified Read 2Thess 2 Actually, you should read 1Thes to see exactly what Paul told them in that first letter. This will help to better understand the reason for the second letter. "Some translations have that the day of Christ is at hand (KJV), but "The verb does not really mean to be at hand, but rather to be present." (Morris); the Thessalonians were not afraid that the day of the Lord was coming, but that they were in it." David Guzik. Who are "they" that your brother is referring to? bgg |

27 | Why read the Bible? | 2 Tim 3:16 | childoftheking | 36708
Hello Meredith and welcome to the forum, Why read the Bible? Because it's the word of God. We are commanded by God to live by every word. Here are some verses that may help you. Romans 15:4 "For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." The word is our Food. We need it to grow stronger in our Faith, to grow stronger in our walk. Matthew 4:4 "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" The word is our Offense and our Defense against he enemy. Proverbs 30:5 "Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him." Ephesians 6:17 "And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." We're Blessed: Luke 11:28 "But He said, "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it" And lastly, The Word is alive: Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." Hope this helps you some. God Bless bgg |

28 | Am I lost for eternity because of sin | 1 John 1:9 | childoftheking | 37445
Dear Godchild, Sin has no place in anyone's life We all sin, but the thing is to not live in sin, to not go back and renew that sin in your life. Having said that, God will most certainly forgive you. "And my desire is to be pleasing in God's sight". This is a good thing to say and to know about yourself because it's really sinning against God when we do sin with the flesh because our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. 1John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;" Hebrews 7:25 Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. We all fall but see what God says here: Psalm 37:24 "Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth [him with] his hand." Philippians 1:6 "For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus". According to Romans 8:35-39 "Neither tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will separate us from the Love of God which is in Christ Jesus". The only thing is, has Jesus begun a work in you? Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour? This is one question you must answer before any other. God also gives us a way out of temptation. 1 Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it." In 2 Peter 2:9 "then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment," Ask God to forgive you, break off entirely what you've been doing, confess your sin to your husband and walk in the Lord's presence. Finally, when you ask God to forgive you, trust him that he has forgiven you and don't beat yourself up about it. God does not want us dwelling on past sins. I can't remember where in the Bible that verse is but it's in there. I leave you with the Grace and Love of Jesus: John 8:7 "But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." 8 Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court. 10 Straightening up, Jesus said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?" 11 She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more."] God Bless you bgg |

29 | Can God be suprised? | 1 John 3:20 | childoftheking | 35635
Hi peggling, In a word, No. God is, among other things, omniscient, God knows all. He knows what's going to happen long before it happens. Along with 1 John 3:20 here's a few other verses. Proverbs 15:3 "The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Watching the evil and the good." Job 31:4 "Does He not see my ways And number all my steps? " Jeremiah 16:17 "For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity concealed from My eyes.” Job 13:8-10; “Will you show partiality for Him? Will you contend for God? "Will it be well when He examines you? Or will you deceive Him as one deceives a man? "He will surely reprove you if you secretly show partiality”. No one can hide from God and no one can deceive God. Peace and Joy in Jesus bgg |
