EdB: We are still rather stunned, and amazed that this happened to me. One often hears or reads of such healings, but frankly I have never seen one I thought was genuine, beyond any doubt. I think of the verse that the man told Jesus, "I do believe, help me with my unbelief". I can say I have too experienced the same thing. Only the LORD can be praised, and for such great Love and Mercy I am constantly amzed. Blessings Ed. justme |

Dustprophet: I have read a number of liberation theologians, but what you state is pure liberal immorality! How can you state what "..is the way of God" is when it is so clear you not only state God wrongly but it is fairly clear you may never have read His Word! Any thoughts? justme |

207 | Ordination by free or easy method on web | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 140135
JW: I heard a little tid-bit once and I liked it, and attempt to go by it, and it goes; No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care. I can not remember once in my adult life that anyone has ever asked was I ordained, when my hands and heart were doing what the Lord lead me to do. Is it not the Lord who has ordained us? As I said before those send me money and we will give you ordination papers are not part of God's Kingdon, why would anyone want them? If you know you are called go to your pastor and do the Ordination the old fashion way...earn the respect, and do the requirements of the Church you assicoiate with. Then you can respect your own ordination. Blessings. justme |

208 | Why is NAS better than KJV | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 141837
Greentwiga: Your response is good and I appreciate your imput, I do wish you had some information in the Update User Info. I would not totally agree that "Most scholars agre that Youngs literal translation is the most accurate." I think that's a pretty generalized statement. The 1901 ASB is good but the language is still KJV style, which limits the accuracy to the persons ability to fully understand the words of the time period it was translated in. The NASB Updated is by far more literal than the 1901 ASV. The NASB is written on a 10th grade level of reading, and is as close to a word for word translation as one can put into English. The NIV is written on a 6th grade level of reading, and is a thought for thought equalivance translation. The NIV does flow nicely and many reasearch tools are available in this translation. So every version uses equalivance Translation when taking the written words from one language to another language. There isno such thing as a perfect word for word, but the NASB Updated is as close as it comes at least today. As a personal note I use the NASB and the NIV side by side. I do like the thought pattern of the NASB a little better, however the NIV often makes things simpler to understand. One thing is sure comprehension is higher with the NIV for most people. One thing is very sure, with as many English translations as there are today anyone who reads English is without any reason not to read the Bible. What are your thoughts or ideas? justme |

Greentwiga: Thank you for your pleasant response. I am touched to hear you have been in missions work. My heart is there as well, and I have been to Bolivia twice, and Columbia, Panama, and Mexico seven times. Bible study by doing word studies or attempting to translate in your own words is exciting, but majorly time comsuming, and worth every minute. The main tools I use are THE INTERLINER HEBREW-ARAMAIC OLD TESTAMENT and the INTERLINEAR GREEK-ENGLISH NEW TESTAMENT 4 volume set by Jay P. Green, and the THEOLOGICAL WORDBOOK OF THE OLD TESTAMENT by R. Laird Harris, Gleason L.Archer,Jr., and Bruce K. Waltke. Perhaps the tool I find I refer to most is VINES EXPOSITORY DICTIONARY OF THE NEW TESTAMNET WORDS. I also have the Exhaustive Concordances for the KJV. NRSV, the NIV, the older NASB and the Updated NASB, and Youngs. For me it seems like any Christian wanting to grow would have at least an Exhaustive Concordance. But my experience is few know how to really dig into the WORD. For most of my personal studies have been in the NIV and it was not until three years ago did I prefer the NASB because of the Updated version. The more relevent wording change in the Old Testament made all the difference for me. What tools do you use in your study? I am always interested in how others study and perhaps learn of better or newer tools. Blessings. justme |

210 | Why the long threads on sexual topics? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 145702
Edb: Good to hear from you. I am reninded of Romans 14:22. When we approve of anything we risk our testimony. I personally would rather remain silent than even enter into such a subject. I am of the opinion that there are boundaries between men and women that need respect, and are improper and impolite to dialogue with mixed sexes. The sacredness of each persons sexuality is no longer seen as a subject that is off limits to the general public at large. There times that certian subjects should best addressed and answered by someone of the same sex. I personally think men should counsel with men, and women with women. Sexual subjects would be better answered by persons with Godly wisdom, and of the same sex. I know this may seem far out, but it is just an old man's idea. I do not think my theology or or treatment of women is anything but respectfull, and liberating. I am just stating what I personally an convicted is the Biblical perspective of Scripture, I believe is best, for me. Perhaps some might consider my views to unrealistic. I believe in a high respect for women and men and appreciation for the differences that we bring as co-partners in Christ and His body. Blessings. justme |

Edb: I agree with you have said. I think Christians especially mom's and dad's need to be street wise and smart in these areas. Far beyond what most people think, sexual activity takes place, as you say in eight year olds and perhaps younger. But they are being taught by someone, or some film at home or school. I do not believe that many eight year olds are naturally interested in sex. As for the homosexual culture we put up with, very few have the truth about their sexual activities. Many E.R's have to deal with the bazar medical issues that are unspeakable, and beyond most peoples imagination. I was an EMT for a while and worked in training at an E. R. so I know of where I speak. You are correct the information of God's best for mankind is in the Word. All to often we see Christians who sin just once, and pay a lifetime for their mistakes. Perhaps there is time to help people at the tender ages to prevent such a miserable life. Blessings. justme |

Hank: Nice to hera from you. I am not attenpting to limit subject material of a piticular area, but just see some contrast. I am not a prude by any means, the Navy made me draw the line as to remain sexually pure. The line between black and white is often blended into the gray. The gray areas are where many Christians reside on moral issues. A sharper focus on the dividing line of black (sin) and white (good) is a requirement for Christians today in our cluture and time. I am sure there are many who could testify of the pain sin brings, and healing Jesus gives. We praise the Lord for His unfailing love, and mercy. Blessings Hank! justme |

Kalos: I personally am not dismayed at the forum, I am aware that people are sin-sick, and need Jesus. I have observed that often those who enter the forum just once, are those who ask some of the questions that seem pretty clearly to be a sexual-sin qustion. Perhaps looking for a justification for a man in his twenties to marry a sixteen year old. (as in today response notes by me) I have and do see the forum more as a door of opportunity to open dialogue and encourage others to make the move to a closer relationship with Christ Jesus. At no age or stage of Christian maturity are we exempt from the need of encouragement and growth. I enjoy reading you notes and questions, you have a solid Biblical base that is admirable. Blessings. justme |

Hank:-) Thank you for the information. You confirmed what I thought. The RSV when it came out was blown away because most Baptist (at least the ones I am aware of) thought it was liberal. I have had that bias myself. The NRSV is in my opinion unworthy of the space it takes on the shelf. I think I might invest in a ESV someday. I still call the Updated NASB home, and the NIV a second choice. J. I. Packer is an author I enjoy. I have one of his books titled HOT TUB RELIGION, and it is a must read. He is down to earth and hits the target. Speaking of translations, have you happened to read some of those who have come out to give a written reccommendation of the TNIV? I wonder if any of these people have really spent any time reading a few important chapters, like Romans chapter 1. ? Have a wonderful Lord's Day. justme |

Hank: Wow,I went to the TNIV criticism! The best evaluation was one by Vern S. Poythress, Ph.D., Th.D. titled TNIV's Altered Meanings. In Dr. Poythress's evaluation he brings out clearly the serious changes the TNIV has made. There is a genuine effort to devalue being male, by elevating feminisn when there is no clear reason to show equivalent terms. The TNIV is not just on a slippery slope, in my opinion it's gone over the cliff. I can only imagine the reason for the publication of this gender netural version is for money. The NRSV did a better job of not being so offensive. I continue to be amazed that so many fail to see what I, a small little person in the scheme of history, see as being a poor biased version. Thank you Hank, for the enlightenment. Blessings. Justme |

Hank: I learned about a decade ago that durring World War Two the VW owners in Germany, used slave workers from the prisnor of war camps to make their VW auto's. for more than fourty years, they never even considered making any attempt to find those slave laborers and give them a token payment. Other companies who used such slave labor did seek and pay for their slave labor much ealier after the war. It was not until that the world court came after VW did they make any effort to trace and make even a token payment, and then only by force did they pay anything. Now the real bite, I bought at least eight VW's before I heard about this situation. Now, because I am aware of what VW did, I feel resentment for those who allowed VW to import the cars until that made efforts to make good on their past sins. I am wondering if this story from my past, really makes my point. Once aware that meat was used as sacrifice, in pagan worship, and we are aware of it, Pauls said not to eat it. However if we don't know then we are better not to ask, but to receive the food and bless the Lord for it. I must now consider what I personally will do to respond to the knowledge I have about Zondervan. I once worked for Zondervan, before Harper-Row bought Zondervan out. Therefore, it seems an even deeper wound for me. However there are other publishers who are now using the NIV, which I consider to be a worthy, dynamic equivlant translation. If nothing else this shows us that we need to pray that other Christian publishers stand firm, and do not let worldly publishers take over. At this point Zondervan might well have closed it's doors rather than sellout to Murdock, and his group. Thanks again Hank for some worthy imput. Blessings brother. justme |

I am not a Souther Baptist but was and know they will follow her through with some help in growing spiritually as well. You sensitivity was very special to read. agape, justme |
