Hank:-)Hank, greetings from the state the LDS church says has the true Garden of Eden, here in Missouri! The Lord is good. I am reminded that I believe in Romans, perhaps? Paul cautions us to be careful about what we approve of. That's my paraphrase. I think some would do well to rethink eendorsements. I believe You and some others also previewed the TNIV. I consider it close to the NRSV and other non-inclusive versions, or should I say non offensive to those in sin. I am very saddned by those who loaned theeir good name to such a poor mistranslation. My health is improving. I feel stronger each week, there are some side effects that are creeping up here and there. However over all I think the lord has extraordinarly blessed me beyond what I could ask for. I did not come with a 100,000 mile or 7 year warranty like my Dodge Dokata. Thanks for the response, and your kind thoughts and prayers. Blessings to you brother Hank. How are you doing by the way? justme |

Hank:-( Ug! Well not about your good health, that's really good to hear! You sound tired and discouraged and your burden sounds heavy, brother. Moses was attempting to do so much he almost blew it. Moses was told from an unlikkely person to share the burdens or he would be crushed under it all. I am not sure self evaluation was quite what would have helped Moses find a solution to his being spred so thin. I honestly don't know why I came up with the thoughts about Moses. However the Forum is a lot like the people Moses was trying to push. What seems rather silly is Moses was not given the position of pusher. Moses was God's chosen to be the leader. I find it's a lot easier on the back to just walk and let others follow than push a wagon full of Missouri potatoes (rocks) up a Missouri hill. I am reminded that when the load is more than we can carry, perhaps it's because we are not yoked with someone to help carry the burden. Hank, I know you are a kind, warm, caring, Christian gentleman. You have the qualities that few Christian men have, and it did not come without devotion to the Lord Jesus, and a deep abiding faith. True faith is hard work! Walking by faith is not achieved overnight, it takes a lifetime to develope ones walk. I know you already are keenly aware of this. You and I in our faith developement need to keep bringing others to maturity in Christ, so they can replace us as we eventually will go home. Perhaps, and I sure don't pretend to know, you need to ask the Holy Father if you should be training someone to share the joy of the Forum with you. I do not expect anything near even close to perfection in you or anyone else. I can say fro certian that there will always be animosity, bickering, backbighting, bitterness, anger, fighting, and unChrist like behavior by Christians until, and only when, Christ comes will it then stop. I am not responsible for anyone else but me on the Fourm. Brother Hank I know you have a lot of you invested in the Forum, I know how deeply you care for those who are in it as well. But dear brother, the Forum is the Lords, and we just serve each other in it. Thhis forum will pass you are very right. But, don't for one second forget we are the Lords and Galations 5:6 "...the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." What ever else we may say or do, only whats done for others through us because we are allowing Christ to show love through us is worth anything at all. Everything else is wasted and gone forever. Only one life will be soon be past; only what's done for Christ will last. This is not my orignal saying, I don't know where it comes from. Brother in Christ, Hank I encourage to look up for the Lord is near, He will not allow you to carry more than you are able, not one inch more! I believe that with all my heart. I ask you to overlook my poor spelling and English grammer, I continue to make more of an effort to improve. God Bless you Hank. Justme, Mike, your brother in Christ always! |

Morant66 :-) Tim, justme here. OUr church is in the 5th week of this study. We are broken up into home Bible Study unites, and I consider it quite helpful to get the avrage church member into a deeper relationship with Christ, the Chruch, and in touch with their meaning and need for a Walk with Jesus Christ. The author does use several versions to make His Biblical points mor focused. I think some might find this a little confusing, but reading the book and doing the workbook clears up the reasons for much concern. This is a solid Biblical based material. I personally would like it better if the NIV or NASB was used exclussively, but that's just my opinion. Look at the material before buying it and judge for yourself. Blessings justme |

166 | MARK 16:16: Was it perverted? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 101855
A O :-) Justme here, greetings. I read some of the notes on your question. Tim is super sharp on his information. I would offer my understanding on this passage in Mark 16. Please note nothing I will say is original with me, this has been a topic of concern, debate, and study for many centuries. I merely am repeating what I was taught or have read in my studies. There is reason to doubt the validity of verses 9-20. The question is not so much about the content of verses 9-20 (except verse 18) but rather did Mark pen this passage. I think your approach to asking do these verses conflict with the balance of Scripture is a wise way to seek wisdon and come to a reasonable conclusion. The verse I find no Scrriptual backing for Mark Chapter 16 is verse 18. This verse is quite problematic. There is no place in the New Testament of drinking deadly poison without death or serious consequences. The added problem is there are some who pickup snakes today as a sign to prove true faith and salvation in Jesus. This presents some special questioning, would Jesus have suggested anything as remotely like picking up snakes as proof of ones genuine salvation. Theologicaly this is not within acceptable understanding of Jesus teachings, or Scriptual backing. All the verses from Mark 19:9-20 except verse 18, do have New testament simularities, and therefor are consistant with Scripture. Howeever, as to if Mark actually wrote verses 9-20 is highly unlikely. Most likely Mark did orginally have a different (lost) ending. Most Biblical scholars say the last 13 verses were not written by Mark. Most references state these verses contain a word structure that is not like the words, style, and theological presentation Mark used elsewhere in the book of Mark. Clearly there is ample reason to challange picking up snakes, and dringing poison and using is as a flese before the Lord. This is testing the Lord Almighty Holy Father, which represents a challenge to our Holy Father, not a proof of our faith in Jesus Christ. I am concerned that I am not challinging leaving the Bible correctiveness, or Biblical insperation. I am nothing when copairing the trustworthiness of any Scripture, and unworthy and to make any definative statement about removing these verses. In deed I am unworthy to have emptied the bed pans of Paul, or Mark! So please do not think I taking the position to change anything in Mark or any other of the 66 books in the Bible. I would be interested in any thinking you have on what input I have presented you with. Blessings. justme |

167 | MARK 16:16: Was it perverted? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 101877
AO : I question if we should consider Pauls experience with the snake as valid for being able to connect with verse 18. Paul was not attempting to prove his salvation, although it did do so in a most seriously life or death situation. Do you consider tverse 18 to mean protection at that time period and including today. I could see it as a proctive verse, but not as a proof of salvation as some primatibe churches ise sbake picking up today. Blessings. justem |

Hank: As i read this note it took me back to a church in the mountian of Arizona. I preached in a church (the oldest Southern Baptist Church in the state) for sever months while attending Grand Canyon College. This church has a pot belly heat stove, out houses, no air conditioning, and the stove did a very poor job of heating. Once a month they had a pot luck and when they did the pay wse reduced by ten dollars. They norminally paid the speaker thenty five dollars. Needless to say this did not even pay for gas back in 1983. In Missouri in the country you stll see churches with out houses and perhaps no electricty, I don't know about that for sure. So Hank, ppeople when motivated will do and put up with a lot of inconvience to worship. Not many will will but a few. Tent meenting happen seldom but there are a few diehards still around. I am not sure if Arkansas has any of these "old time Churches left, I would think so. Have a good day and God Bless. justme |

169 | What is the most accurate version? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 104466
EdB: You make some very good points, in my opinion:-) The one area I would add is to read what the translator teams goal was. The Niv clearly says from what point they are starting from, as doesthe NASB and others. The more neo-orthodox the translators the more liberal the version will be. How the translators put in their opinion as to Old Testament dates again have a real meaning as well. In my opinion:-) I would have put the NIV "in" your list and taken "out" the New Living Bible. Perhaps what many do not like is Dynamic Equalivement versions, like the NIV and in some verses every version eever translated. New Tribes Missions and Wycliffe Translators all use D. E. to put orignal Biblical languages into native tongues. I personally like less of the D. E. than as close to literal as possible. Which I an sure several translations do very good in translating. However, nothing is more accurate than to translate word for word your self. This takes years and years, which some of us may not ave left, so I choose to read the NASB instead. Hope this added something more to the mix. Blessings. justme |

170 | What is the most accurate version? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 104644
Kalos:-) With the so many helps now for us to work our way in word studies, with patients and time, it is easier than most would believe to take a verse and find the root meanings along the most logical meaning, when comparing it current English translations. This is time consuming but the effort is so interesting. I rarely do this, but wwhen I have I have beem thrilled and rewarded. In fariness, when we have so many carefully translated versions of the English Bible one can hardly expect to do more than a basic crude equlivant, at least that'smy experience has beem. I know I appreciate my Bible so much more. Blessings. justme |

Maran: Thank you for your response. I assure that no matter what Bible forum you enter, as long as there is a sinful natured, there will be rude remarks and unspiritual people who put their fingers to the key board when they should be on their knees on the floor. I believe this is when we look to those who are more mature in their Christian life to come along side and encourage, and exhort those who need to be reminded this behavior is not acceptable. Perhaps your observation will do that. I encourage you to use whatever gift you have and help make this a better fourm. Blessings and peace to you. justme |

EdB:-) Merry Christmas Ed. Every point you make is true form my perspective as well. There are some who would say any music that is worshipful must be sung with an organ. I am sure you understand what I mean, I hope you do anyway. What many do not know is many of our traditional hymns were melodies taken from the popular music of the time. a good number of tumes came right out of dance music that was played in bars, and other worldly places. The same arguments that we hear today about modern music was also said back then. The issues remain the same only the years have changed to sounds and tempo. We have seen Bill Gathers music become a standard in many hymn books today, and I remember a church that would not allow "that kind of music" many years ago. I am not saying all you have sao\id is not valid. I am saying some issues never change because change is hard for us all. The older some people get the more resistant they are to any change. Hopefully we can be willing to listen and make good judgements about what is worship and what is disrespectful to the Lord. Blessings Ed. justme |

Nwe Creature: Thank you for sharing your feelings. I think I hear you say, there is a division between your wife and you. I have seen this in couples a number of times. Perhaps one of the sadest examples of this kind of spiritual division happened to a very well known pastor. He felt his ministry should remain where and how it was. His wife was dogmatic she was called to be a missionary. They each held fast to their "called ministry". Both were determined to each go as "God had called" him or her The end result was a failed marriage by divorce. The church stood by him. She moved on with her "calling". This was one of the most idiotic stupid spiritual divisions in a marriage I have seen yet. God never "calles Christian believers to a ministry that takes a divorce to follow that call. These situations are not the call of God that is certian. I can't understand why this "man of God" would feel his ministry would be worth a hoot when he failed to give his life for his wife, God gave him. If one listens to each side the end cause is stubborn hardness of hearts. In the end neither of the couple can have a testimony that is pleasing to the Lord. I know scripture clearly states in 1 Peter that a mans relationship with his wife will determine how his prayers are answered or hindered, and how close a relationship we can have with the Lord. A covenant marriage is our utmost responsibility way before even worship. How can we worship the Lord if we are not in a right relationship with our covenant partner? I hope I have presented you with some ideas to think about. No one can tell you what you need to do, only the Lord has the answer to your situation. I know God is able to heal this spiritual division between you and your wife. I pray that the Lord will show you wisdom and grace to bring you two together in worshiping in your love and marriage and a church you both feel the Lords Holy Spirit. Blessings. justme |

EdB. You are so right. I am reminded of the Scripture in St. Jihn that says true worshipers must worship in Spirit and Truth. I too agree that a good number of "Christian singers" are hard to tell by their lives and music who it is they are singing for and about. This summer one popular song played on a Christian station here had the words "I am ok" over and over. I heard no redemptive quality in the words or melody, and she sang like a rap singer! That is garbage as far as I am concerned. Perhaps one thing we should consider is the singer. There are Christians who entertain, and Christians who have a ministery. I recall a small young lady who was called "Evey" and she was the latter. However "little Richard" was a phoney and his testimony that TBN played over and over a good long time ago proved to be nothing but a lie. I dislike "Christian Rap" music more than I can find words to express. That just is not music in any way known to mankind. Perhaps the ultimate award for messed up theological music content goes to " He's got the whole world in His hands". I remember it being played everywhere. This was a song that brought out the warm fuzzy feelings of being in Gods hands. By the way I once heard "Bridge over troubled waters" song in church. Do you remember the song that said "what will be will be"? This thinking is not in the Lords scheme of things. Well Ed, "may the force be with you". justme |

punkiedo: The verse in Luke 6:37 is very often quoted by those who are offending others, as a defence for their behavior. I recently heard a very famious female rock star who says she is a Christian, justify her lude dress and suggestive dances by using this verse for those who said she not being a good role model. By using this verse like you did it is not used in context. The way Jesus said we are to treat others is found in John 1434 abd 35. "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." Palu said this in Galations 5:6B "...The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." I once found this little note, I do not kwon the author. "Truth without Love; Love without Truth, both of these are neither." I encourage you to ask yourself can I say this in a more kinder way and build up rather than cause someone to feel put down? It makes no difference if you were sincere or not the word you put together gave readers the opinion that you had been in the forum for some time and spoke for others. For some time I have seem the same notes you read, and never felt I needed to represent anyone but my self. I have welcomed many who I doubted they would stay in the Bible Study Forum very long, because of the attidude. I sincerely forgot to welcome you, and I do so now. I hope you get on and enjoy the forum and grow in the Lord. Sorry your biscuits burned. Blessings. justme |

Punkiedo: I think you have a chip on your shoulder. Could you explain whay you feel so compelelled to get you feathers so ruffled up? I think it is very clear there are serious disagreements about some basic doctrine here. Why get so all fired up and fight for what you think is right? I can't understand what you goal or motives are. If you so choose to advocate using a web site that is unscriptual, please do it from a forum that is more inclined to agree with your views. I fail to see why you seem to want to spread your brand of kinjdness and Christian love. I believe Scripture says that out of the mouth comes what is within the heart. If that is true than I genuienly believe you have missed what Christian Love is all about. If I were seen as disruptive and not in agreement with a groups doctrine I would rather just move on and find those whom I did find common grounds. Perhaps you might give my thinking some consideration. As for your questioning the surity of my faith I appreciate knowing that. I never feel I have attained perfection. I often pray that I can't believe that God sent His one and only sSon to die for my sins. I do not deserve such mercy and grace! Then Jesus has the Holy Spirit seal me, as I am now His. Oh what wonderful news. There is the Trinity oh that those who are so blinded might see. Punkiedo, I will dialogue whit others that are respectful, kind , and teachable. My time on the forum is valuable time I could be doing other things with my grand-children or adult children or my wife. All of which genuinely appreciate the fact I am still recovering from cancer treatments. I believe you are so determined in your ways that for now you are not teachable, or want to learn, your purpose is to disrupt and stirr things up. I do not consider this thread with you a wise investment of my time. I als see you have said nothing about your self in the Update User Info. So I have no idea about what or who you are. I do know you seem real frustrated and full of anxiety. Perhaps you might print off what you have said and others have responded with, and look at them at a latter date and see if you can see what I am speaking about. You sound so authoritive, when you need to see you have not really got the full truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. justme |

Hagen teachings are not orthodox Christianity, nor does he subscripe to any financial accountability. His many fellow false teachers include Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland and a host of other wolves in sheeps skins. You might want to look at the date some notes were written, as the one you answered was posted on August 19, 2003, chances are she might not have the same e-mail anymore or that so many others answered that it is rather late.
