181 | What does it mean to be born-again? | Eph 4:5 | Wild Olive Shoot | 168875
Dear hyojinee, I hope this helps you: Ephesians 4:4-6: 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Some commentary on “one baptism”: “One baptism, by which we profess our faith, being baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; and so the same sacramental covenant, whereby we engage ourselves to the Lord Christ.” – Matthew Henry “One baptism - This does not affirm that there is one mode of baptism, but it refers to “the thing itself.” They are all baptized in the name of the same Father, Saviour, Sanctifier. They have all in this manner been consecrated unto God, and devoted to his service. Whether by immersion, or by pouring, or by sprinkling, they have all been baptized with water; whether it is done in adult years, or in infancy, the same solemn act has been performed on all - the act of consecration to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” – Albert Barnes “One baptism, there were divers baptisms under the law, but there is but one baptism under the Gospel; for John's and Christ's are the same: there are, besides, figurative or metaphorical ones, which are so in an improper sense, as the baptism of the Spirit, and the baptism of blood, or of sufferings; but there is but one baptism, literally and properly so called, which is water baptism; and which is to be administered in one and the same way, by immersion in water; and on one and the same subjects, believers in Christ; and in one and the same name, the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; and to be performed but once, when rightly administered.” – John Gill Concerning one being born again: Easton Bible Dictionary: Regeneration: Only found in Mat_19:28 and Tit_3:5. This word literally means a “new birth.” The Greek word so rendered (palingenesia) is used by classical writers with reference to the changes produced by the return of spring. In Mat_19:28 the word is equivalent to the “restitution of all things” (Act_3:21). In Tit_3:5 it denotes that change of heart elsewhere spoken of as a passing from death to life (1Jo_3:14); becoming a new creature in Christ Jesus (2Co_5:17); being born again (Joh_3:5); a renewal of the mind (Rom_12:2); a resurrection from the dead (Eph_2:6); a being quickened (Eph_2:1, Eph_2:5). This change is ascribed to the Holy Spirit. It originates not with man but with God (Joh_1:12, Joh_1:13; 1Jo_2:29; 1Jo_5:1, 1Jo_5:4). As to the nature of the change, it consists in the implanting of a new principle or disposition in the soul; the impartation of spiritual life to those who are by nature “dead in trespasses and sins.” The necessity of such a change is emphatically affirmed in Scripture (Joh_3:3; Rom_7:18; Rom_8:7-9; 1Co_2:14; Eph_2:1; Eph_4:21-24). |

184 | How do I explain Eph5:22-25 to my man? | Eph 5:22 | Wild Olive Shoot | 192951
First things first. Don't stop at v25. Ephesians 5:25-33: 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. "The duty of husbands (on the other hand), is to love their wives (Eph_5:25); for without this they would abuse their superiority and headship, and, wherever this prevails as it ought to do, it will infer the other duties of the relation, it being a special and peculiar affection that is required in her behalf. The love of Christ to the church is proposed as an example of this, which love of his is a sincere, a pure, an ardent, and constant affection, and that notwithstanding the imperfections and failures that she is guilty of. The greatness of his love to the church appeared in his giving himself unto the death for it. Observe, As the church's subjection to Christ is proposed as an exemplar to wives, so the love of Christ to his church is proposed as a pattern to husbands; and while such exemplars are offered to both, and so much is required of each, neither has reason to complain of the divine injunctions. The love which God requires from the husband in behalf of his wife will make amends for the subjection which he demands from her to her husband; and the prescribed subjection of the wife will be an abundant return for that love of the husband which God has made her due." 185 | 14 yr old dressing inappropriately-HELP! | Eph 6:1 | Wild Olive Shoot | 174801
Dear psalm46v10, Brother Mark gave you some very well rounded and sound thoughts. If I can add to that… A few verses come to mind of which you have already recognized one: Ephesians 6:1 1Corinthians 8:12, 13: 12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. 13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend. “I make my brother to offend: this is truly Christian charity, a proof of brotherly love, and it shows a concern for the peace and welfare of others, when a person foregoes his own right, and drops the use of his liberty, rather than grieve, wound, and offend a brother in Christ.” - John Gill The verse from 1Corinthians, in my opinion, has a very broad application. Your Husband and his current wife are they Christians? They need to closely listen to your requests and wishes when it deals with your children. Although your children may not be under your direct guidance, you are their mother and your wishes should be respected, especially in dealing with their spiritual upbringing. Not taking into consideration the weaker Christian aspect, because this can vary greatly from person to person, but the charitable thing to do, once you know something is offensive to another, is to simply stop doing it for their conscience’s sake. There are many things I find non-offensive of which I’ll refrain from in certain company. Not because I think it is wrong, but simply because others may. Your position on this matter concerning your daughter surely needs to be considered by the others involved. All involved here, the father, stepmother, daughter and you need to be sure to take all feelings into account and reason to a suitable outcome, keeping Christian morals and principles in the forefront. With that said, you may want to approach the other parental unit and discuss this with them, which you may have already done to no avail. I would think you should also discuss with your daughter. Ultimately, it seems that she is wearing what she thinks is appropriate as well. If you can convince her that it may not be so, and explain why, she may reject the attire in question and even if it is purchased for her, she’ll opt not to wear it. It is most definitely what is on the inside that matters most. 1Peter 3:3,4; 3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. To achieve an understanding on your daughter’s part, simply ask her to adorn these items and then proceed to gather with the congregation of a church. Most likely, she’ll feel the uneasiness and maybe get a feeling of how unbecoming some attire can be. I agree that our attire, as well our actions, does reflect to an extent where our hearts are. Stress that to your daughter as well. How does she want to be perceived by her peers and others? Does she set the example of who she truly is with her attire and actions? Ultimately, prayer for an acceptable resolution is your best course of action. God has control of the situation you can be sure. Find peace in that while you persevere in helping your daughter and her father and stepmother to understand your mind-set and why you feel the way you do. I hope this helps in some way. I’ll close with the following: 1Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; “The true idea here is, that her attention to her appearance should be such that she will be offensive to no class of persons; such as to show that her mind is supremely fixed on higher and more important things, and such as to interfere with no duty which she owes, and no good which she can do, either by spending her time needlessly in personal adorning, or by lavishing that money for dress which might do good to others, or by neglecting the proprieties of her station, and making herself offensive to others.” – Albert Barnes “They must be very modest in their apparel, not affecting gaudiness, gaiety, or costliness (you may read the vanity of a person's mind in the gaiety and gaudiness of his habit), because they have better ornaments with which they should adorn themselves, with good works. Note, Good works are the best ornament; these are, in the sight of God, of great price. Those that profess godliness should, in their dress, as well as other things, act as becomes their profession; instead of laying out their money on fine clothes, they must lay it out in works of piety and charity, which are properly called good works.” – Matthew Henry In Him, WOS |

186 | is a gay person made gay by God? | Eph 6:10 | Wild Olive Shoot | 215774
Dear prettyboy, Homosexuality is sinful. (Romans 1:26,27) God does not “create” us gay. We are however born sinners in a fallen world. We are enslaved to sin because that is what we choose. In Christ however, we have freedom. (2 Corinthians 5:17) 1Corinthians 6:9-11: 9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous2 will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: xneither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,3 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And ysuch were some of you. But zyou were washed, ayou were sanctified, byou were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. Being gay or having homosexual desires is another battle of the flesh that must be overcome. We have the ability to do this through Jesus by being strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 187 | Asking many to pray for us? | Eph 6:18 | Wild Olive Shoot | 188870
Dear justme, Following is some Scripture and commentary I hope helps. Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 1Timothy 2:1-4: 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. “For all men - Prayers should be made for all people - for all need the grace and mercy of God; thanks should be rendered for all, for all may be saved.”… – Albert Barnes James 5:14 – 16: 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. “And pray one for another - One for the other; mutually. Those who have done injury, and those who are injured, should pray for each other. The apostle does not seem here, as in Jam_5:14-15, to refer particularly to the prayers of the ministers of religion, or the elders of the church, but refers to it as a duty pertaining to all Christians.” – Albert Barnes Acts 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. Matthew 18:19,20: 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. 189 | Authority to Ask God for One's Needs | Phil 4:19 | Wild Olive Shoot | 156179
Based on the following, I would disagree. Luke 11: 1And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. 2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. God’s will be done. Matthew 6: 31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Seek the Kingdom of God and God knowing what we need will provide. 1 John 5: 14And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. God hears us because we ask according to His will. Acts 20: 34Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. 35I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. Philippians 4: 17Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. 18But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. 19But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. But then I came across Mark 11:24. Mark 11: 24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. But realized their was a qualification for that in Mark 11:22. Mark 11: 22And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. Having faith in God will have us desiring Godly things. Our desire will be for God’s will to be done. WOS |

JaCobb, Welcome to the forum. Here is some info I was able to put together. Hope this helps. Westminster Confession of Faith Chapter XXV Of the Church I. The catholic or universal Church, which is invisible, consists of the whole number of the elect, that have been, are, or shall be gathered into one, under Christ the Head thereof; and is the spouse, the body, the fulness of Him that fills all in all. II. The visible Church, which is also catholic or universal under the Gospel (not confined to one nation, as before under the law), consists of all those throughout the world that profess the true religion; and of their children: and is the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ, the house and family of God, out of which there is no ordinary possibility of salvation. III. Unto this catholic visible Church Christ has given the ministry, oracles, and ordinances of God, for the gathering and perfecting of the saints, in this life, to the end of the world: and does, by His own presence and Spirit, according to His promise, make them effectual thereunto. http://www.reformed.org/documents/wcf_with_proofs/index.html Ephesians 4:11-13: 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: “Eph 4:12 - For the perfecting of the saints, The chosen ones, whom God has sanctified or set apart for himself in eternal election: the ministry of the word is designed for the completing the number of these in the effectual calling; and for the perfecting of the whole body of the church, by gathering in all that belong to it, and of every particular saint, who is regenerated and sanctified by the Spirit of God: for the best of saints are imperfect; for though there is a perfection in them, as that designs sincerity, in opposition to hypocrisy, and as it may be taken comparatively with respect to what others are, or they themselves were; and though there is a perfection of parts of the new man in them, yet not of degrees; and though there is a complete perfection in Christ, yet not in themselves, their sanctification is imperfect, as their faith, knowledge, love, sin is in them, and committed by them, and they continually want supplies of grace; and the best of them are sensible of their imperfection, and own it: now the ministration of the word is a means of carrying on the work of grace in them unto perfection, or "for the restoring or joining in of the saints"; the elect of God were disjointed in Adam's fall, and scattered abroad, who were representatively gathered together in one head, even in Christ, in redemption; and the word is the means of the visible and open jointing of them into Christ, and into his churches, and also of restoring them after backslidings: for the edifying the body of Christ; not his natural body the Father prepared for him; nor his sacramental body in the supper; but his mystical body the church; and gifts are bestowed to fit them for the preaching of the Gospel, that hereby the church, which is compared to an edifice, might be built up; and that the several societies of Christians and particular believers might have spiritual edification, and walk in the fear of the Lord, and in the comforts of the Holy Ghost, and their numbers be increased, and their graces be in lively exercise.” – John Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible Ephesians 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. “Observe, The seat of God's praises is in the church. That little rent of praise which God receives from this world is from the church, a sacred society constituted for the glory of God, every particular member of which, both Jew and Gentile, concurs in this work of praising God. The Mediator of these praises is Jesus Christ. All God's gifts come from his to us through the hand of Christ; and all our praises pass from us to him through the same hand. And God should and will be praised thus throughout all ages, world without end; for he will ever have a church to praise him, and he will ever have his tribute of praise from his church. Amen. So be it; and so it will certainly be.” – Mathew Henry Colossians 1:16-18: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. Hello Pastordd. The Godhead is simply the essential being or the nature of God. Acts 17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. In the unity of the Godhead there be three Persons of one substance, power, and eternity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. The Father is of none, neither begotten nor proceeding; the Son is eternally begotten of the Father; the Holy Ghost eternally proceeding from the Father and the Son. 195 | Eph 2:1-10 | Col 2:13 | Wild Olive Shoot | 171446
What is spiritual death? Easton’s Bible Dictionary: There is a spiritual death in trespasses and sins, i.e., the death of the soul under the power of sin (Rom_8:6; Eph_2:1, Eph_2:3; Col_2:13). Romans 8:5-8: 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; “This wisdom of the flesh, or carnal mindedness, "is death"; not that it is conversant about death; or that such persons are thoughtful of it, endeavour to make it familiar to them; or are desirous of it, and esteem it as a privilege; this only spiritually minded men do: but the sense is, that this issues in death; death is not the object, but the end of carnal mindedness; carnal mindedness, so far as it prevails in the saints, brings a death upon them. It is true, indeed, they cannot die a spiritual, or an eternal death; yet sometimes they are very dead and lifeless in their frames, in the exercise of grace and discharge of duty; which is frequently owing to their carnality: and the effect of this must needs be death in carnal men; since it alienates from God; it renders them transgressors of the law, and obnoxious to its curse; it sets the soul against, and diverts it from Christ the way of life; and if grace prevent not, must be the cause of, and issue in eternal death; because it is sin and sinful, it is enmity to God, it disqualifies for life, and makes persons fit companions for the heirs of wrath:” – John Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible WOS |

Dear Shythiyl, Matthew Henry claimed with reference to Ephesians 3:18-19: “There is a spiritual manifestation of Christ and his love made to all believers. When he enlightens their minds to know his love, and the dimensions of it enlivens their graces, and draws them into exercise, and thus enlarges their comforts in himself - when he clears up the evidences of their interest in him, and gives them tokens of his love, experience of his tenderness, and earnests of his kingdom and glory, - then he manifests himself to them; and Christ is manifested to none but those to whom he is pleased to manifest himself.” Ephesians 3:14-19(KJV) 14For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. In support I would offer: Colossians 2:9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. It’s the love of God that is manifested to us and the manifestation of that love that we emulate to others as well. And it’s conditional: that we love Him and that is made known through observing and keeping his commandments, which is love in its fullness. Romans 8:38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Dear drcinva, First of all, I suggest you seek counseling from your pastor or other trusted and well learned church member, or family member, on how it may be best to handle your dilemma. Secondly, you need to be wise enough, discerning enough and mindful enough to eliminate yourself from situations that may lead to harm, no matter how unintentional and innocent it may have appeared in the onset. I pray in the meantime, you take this experience and learn from it and can use it to advise others as well. Proverbs 3:21-23 (KJV) 21My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: 22So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. 23Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. Proverbs 14:15-16 (KJV) 15The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going. 16A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident. WOS |

Dear Maearl, Would you please show some examples of what you mean by the subjectivity of Scripture? If the word of God is not the final authority over the Word of God, then who do you propose should be? Man? The Author being God, I guess it should be considered dynamic. If the interpretation of Scripture is Scripture itself, then it is to be dynamically (self motivationally) interpreted by God to get a true interpretation, is it not? Concerning your claim that the historicity and science is waved off to propose some esoterically written interpretation; how obscure do you actually find Scripture and it’s meaning to be? Many have faithfully devoted their life to God and His Word with the true intent of clearly conveying His Word. Many have taken history into context and tried to express the realities of it. Many notable scholars have accomplished that as their commentary and interpretations have coincided with God’s word and have been proven. Concerning scientific context, I’m presuming you imply that certain events recorded in God’s Word just aren’t physically or naturally possible. My question to you would be, when has God been constrained by any of the natural and physical laws that He brought into existence. Do you feel He has limitations to act within those? Did the word “faith” ever have a meaning to you? In my estimation, someone who at some point truly understands what faith is would not throw by the wayside at any point ever. Understanding this gift from God in part leads one to understanding God and what our relationship is. I see your problem of pretending that there is a non-personalized objective stems from your lack or rather discarding of that faith. Our relationship with Christ is a personal one and all Scripture points to Christ. Everything written prior to Christ points forward to Him, everything after points back to Him. We meet in all tenses at the foot of the cross. Scripture shows us that and to comprehend that one must be actively seeking to know Him through faith You have the only consistent and authoritative means that has always and forever will, stand the test of time and that is the Word of God. If you’re looking for something to surpass that, your search will prove to be a drivel one at best. Scripture has never been “circular reasoning”. That would indicate that there must be a higher authority or a final say-so. That God and His word are not. God is the Authority behind His Word, and the claim of circular reasoning is merely a nonsensical form of rancorously attacking and demeaning the Word and such an attack will always fail and never succeed. God is Sovereign and His Word is His Word. It seems to me that you expect nothing less than a theophanic presence to inform you that God’s word is authoritatively His and final. But in essence, haven’t we had that and continue to have a relationship with Him even today? WOS |

"what authority does The Westminster Confession of Faith have to determine the canon of sacred scripture? How would I know that what the Westminster Confession of Faith taught was the truth?" 1Corinthians 2:5 that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. As to what my post alluded to, the authority is with an infallible God, not fallible men or church councils. A church cannot set itself above the authority God as no man can. The canon supports itself as ordained by God. Concerning the apocrypha: "Finally, the books of the Apocrypha abound in doctrinal, ethical, and historical errors. For instance, Tobit claims to have been alive when Jeroboam revolted (931 B.C.) and when Assyria conquered Israel (722 B.C.), despite the fact that his lifespan was only a total of 158 years (Tobit 1:3-5; 14:11)! Judith mistakenly identifies Nebuchadnezzar as king of the Assyrians (1:1, 7). Tobit endorses the superstitious use of fish liver to ward off demons (6: 6,7)! The theological errors are equally significant. Wisdom of Solomon teaches the creation of the world from pre-existent matter (7:17). II Maccabees teaches prayers for the dead (12:45-46), and Tobit teaches salvation by the good work of almsgiving (12:9) -- quite contrary to inspired Scripture (such as John 1:3; II Samuel 12:19; Hebrews 9:27; Romans 4:5; Galatians 3:11)." - The Concept and Importance of Canonicity by Greg Bahnsen http://www.reformed.org/bible/index.html It is no longer debatable; our focus should be on Christ and not fallible men or councils. Ephesians 4:2-7: 2 with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 giving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as also ye were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all. 7 But unto each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Hi oyewole55 and welcome. God communicates with us through His Word. 2Timothy 3:16,17: 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. Isaiah 55:11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. Stand in His grace, WOS |
