Hello sheebie, The only answer is that God named them. Since he named the stars (Isaiah 40:26), it seems logical he named the angels. Steve |

162 | what are some study methods? | Bible general Archive 2 | srbaegon | 133440
Hello skylight, There are many different methods--inductive, deductive, biographical, devotional, etc. The best method is the one that gets you to study. My personal preference is the inductive method. Kay Arthur has written some good material on this. Steve |

Hello kingpaper11, Unleavened bread is simple bread without yeast. I've had unleavened bread made from plain white flour and some from barley flour. In our church we don't bother with unleavened bread since there is no requirement for it. Steve |

166 | How do you ordain someone? | Bible general Archive 2 | srbaegon | 136790
Hello FreeSpiritFaith, According to New Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge: "According to Acts 6:6; 13:3, the appointment to office in the church is conferred by prayer and the laying on of hands, which here again is nothing more than a natural symbol for the transmission of the power of the Holy Spirit necessary to their exercise...Paul warns [Timothy] (1 Tim 5:22) to lay hands suddenly on no man." |

169 | cannot figure out this site | Bible general Archive 2 | srbaegon | 137487
Hello rosemary, There are a couple ways of searching. 1) Near the top are two search windows. You can either look for comments on a specific verse or on a book of the Bible. 2) On the right is a window called Quick Search. There you can enter any word and have answers returned. Be careful though. It can take a bit of time, and you could get many 'hits' for a word. Steve |

174 | pre-marital sex | Bible general Archive 2 | srbaegon | 139263
Hello cakers, Fornication is a broad term for sex beyond its boundaries, scope, purpose, etc. Therefore, fornication applies to pre-marital sex. The proper place for sex (as has already been mentioned) is in a monogamous marital relationship. Heb 13:4 (ESV) Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. Here there is a definite dichotomy established: sex in marriage on one side and sex outside marriage on the other. Within any group of people, there are established practices and rituals which are performed to satisfy legal requirements and recognize the union. Scripture does not specify any particular ritual, because how a person is married is less important than the fact that it occurred. Steve |

179 | Bible reading for a new Christian | Bible general Archive 2 | srbaegon | 144658
Hello tjheller, There are several Bible reading plans available. As an example, you could look at http://www.bible-reading.com/bible-plan.html. This and many others gives a plan for reading through the Bible in a year (which I recommend doing). I have followed the Navigators plan in the past found at http://www.navpress.com/Assets/PDF/Magazines/DJ/Brp2.pdf. My own daily reading plan goes like this: 1 chapter from Gen-Deut; 3 chapters from Joshua-Malachi; 1 chapter from Matt-John; 1 chapter from Acts-Revelation. I just keep bookmarks at the breaks. Steve |
