163 | How does one "take offense at" the Lord? | Matt 11:6 | Mommapbs | 105572
What are some ways that one can "take offense at" the Lord? It is interesting to note the use of the word stumbling in the Amphlified version. As I did a search on the word stumble, I came across this reference where Jesus is called "A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE"; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed." 1 Peter 2:8 I'd appreciate your comments! |

Let's compare these two references: "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." Prov 9:10 How does knowledge of the Holy One relate to departing from evil? What must we "understand"? |

166 | What if? | Luke 23:34 | Mommapbs | 105463
Greetings - you didn't answer the question! But Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves - Luke 23:34 If they knew what they were doing, would they still be forgiven because of His atoning death? Let's re-visit and consider the implications of this question. mommapbs |

167 | What if they knew what they wee doing? | Luke 23:34 | Mommapbs | 105452
Consider this request of Jesus,"Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing." I'm wondering about His statement. If they knew that Jesus IS God, would they have crucified Him? AND . . . If they knew what they were doing, would they still be forgiven because of His atoning death? |

171 | The unpardonable sin? | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 101895
AO - You wrote. "Any of the situations you mention can be pardoned if the individual stops sinning, repents and from that time forward practises righteousness." This sounds like a works based plan of slavation to me! Is it? I fail to see how ANY of the situations I mentioned fall into the category of the "unpardonable sin". From your standpoint, the continual, unrepentent sins of homosexuality, pronography, and gossip are "unpardonable" but why did you exclude the sin of fornication? What about not giving,or tithing? Does the habitual practice of selfishness also become unpardonable? mommapbs |

172 | Questions on Luke 17: 5-10 | Luke 17:10 | Mommapbs | 101482
When the disciples asked Jesus to "increase their faith," He included this in His instruction. Please consider the passage in Luke 17:5-10. I'm interested in comments on verse 10 - what does this say to you? Does this say something about OUR servanthood or what our attitude should/should not be?
173 | "My witnesses?" | Acts 1:8 | Mommapbs | 100603
What does it mean to be "My witnesses?" Is this the same as sharing the testimony of our personal conversion or is it something more?
174 | Those that live blameless will see Jesus | Matt 28:18 | Mommapbs | 100370
Ken please elaborate with Scripture. Where does God's Word say that "Those that live blameless will see Jesus"? Isn't this a works based salvation? mommapbs |

175 | Scriptural support of your position? | Matt 28:18 | Mommapbs | 100347
Ken, a disclaimer PLEASE! At the end of YOUR last post to me, you signed MY name! In light of what you have written, much of which I disagree, I would ask for a reposted rely with YOUR name attached. Thank you. You wrote: "Suppose one lives a blameless life without the written law to guide him or the knowledge of Jesus who saves him, what do you think his punishment should be?" First of all, NO ONE except Jesus CHrist has lived a blameless life. Again, God's Word tells us ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) - no one can measure up to God's Holy standard. What part of ALL do you not understand. Romans 1 tells us plainly that men are without excuse. I understand your angst over this with regard to the untold millions who have never heard the Gospel, but who are YOU to argue with what God has declared? You wrote: "many have died [maybe billions] without ever hearing His name who lived blameless lives, what about them?" Again ALL have sinned - no one but Jesus Christ is blameless; men are without excuse. You wrote: "Where there is no law sin [the penalty for being born in it] is NOT imputed." (Where does Scripture say this is so? pbs) You wrote: "if they never hear the word....And if when they do, accept it WE are to make disciples of them....not gettum saved... the assumption should be that they already are so" Already saved? WHERE do you find this in God's Word? Maybe I am reading a faulty translation but I am stuggling to find it anywhere! No, you are NOT clear on this. First you claim that there are those who are blameless and then you write that those who have never heard the Word are already saved. . . . Please support your beliefs with Scripture. In Christ, mommapbs |

176 | Who is "they" in 2 Tim 4:3-4 ? | 2 Thess 2:11 | Mommapbs | 100281
Greetings, I had written this as a note a few weeks ago and perhaps now it's time to post it as a question to consider. "For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false," 2 Thess 2:11 Once again this verse has "captured" my attention: Having just read "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown, and after a little web searching it seems to me that there are many "deluding" influences that the Lord may employ in these "last days" to achieve His purposes. The premise that this text espouses (in direct conflict with the Gospel), its secret nature and the enticement of its "power" are indeed strong motivators for many to be influenced to turn away from the Truth. I suspect that there may be a unifying connection (antichrist) between the Priory of Scion, Knights Templar, Free Masonry and the Illuminati, to name a few. . . also, the suggestion that there are many individuals in positions of power and influence around the globe who belong to these organizations is chilling, to say the least! Frankly, it is exciting to me as I see prophecy being fulfilled here: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths." 2 Tim 4:3-4 I think that we as believers have missed something here because so often we attach this Scripture to those in our midst who do not share OUR doctrinal position! So, I'm wondering, who is "they" in this Scripture? As for believers, stand firm - hold onto the Gospel of Truth, for our Lord is indeed coming and His reward is with Him! (Heb 11:6; Rev 22:12) mommapbs |

177 | A couple of questions | Matt 28:18 | Mommapbs | 100280
A couple of questions on your post Ken! You wrote: "Only the saved will hear . . . those who 'hunger and thirst after righteousness, they will be filled' with a 'saving Grace'. With those, when Jesus is explained, they accept the account of what He did. " Do they hunger and thirst first or do they have to be told that they are hungry and thirsty? Also, you wrote: "everyone is saved to begin with and don't realize Jesus did it." Please support this statement with Scripture. mommapbs |

178 | How do you put this into practice? | Ps 46:10 | Mommapbs | 100253
In the NIV this verse is rendered, "Be still and know . . ." So much of the time we are "striving" to praise, sing, pray, serve etc. which are all forms of worship, but do we neglect being "still?" How do you put this into practice? |

179 | In Adam vs. In Christ? | 2 Cor 5:17 | Mommapbs | 100163
Greetings Aixen7z4 - You wrote, "our lives are merged into his"; I think that our dear member Ray would be gratified if we chose to capitalize "His!" How does this differ from being "in Adam?" 1 Cor 15:22 (see also 15:45) For me, this expands my understanding of the salvation that I have "in Him", who loved me and gave Himself up for me! Blessings, mommapbs |

180 | How do you "share the Gospel?" | Matt 28:18 | Mommapbs | 100014
Many believers think that their responsibility is to bring people to church so they can hear the Gospel. Is this what Jesus had in mind when He told us to make disciples? "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19,20 "but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." Acts 1:8 "but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;" 1 Peter 3:15 How do you "share the Gospel?" |
