1441 | What is this "open door?" | Rev 4:1 | Mommapbs | 30373
Greetings Nolan, Emmaus and Ray! Thank you for your insight. I am still chewing on this. After looking up some additional references (Matthew 24: 33-4; Matthew 25:10; John 10:9) I am getting a different view of this "Door!" I am reminded of the door on the Ark - God shut that one, will this door be shut too? How long will it be open? Thinking about the reference in Rev 3:20 to the door of our heart (which is closed until we choose to open it) and contrasting it to the heart of God which is OPEN, (God is patient , not wanting anyone to perish 2Peter3:9) is also thought provoking. (Further shows that we are createdin His likeness - each of us have a "door" of desire or a "will.") Yes, I know I'm stretching WAY out there! But this is how God seems to lead me along - with "object lessons"! Not being a Greek scholar limits my exploration, but having the Spirit of Christ I believe it is necessary for me to continue to seek until the truths the Lord wants me to know are revealed! (And I pursue His Truth with the full knowlege that this may not be until I get to Heaven, then of course it won't matter!)Blessings to you! Mommapbs |

1442 | For Israel? For us? | Zeph 3:18 | Mommapbs | 29840
Thanks Nolan: I can't wait for that Day, when every tear will be wiped away! For me, the tears I long to have dried are because of my disobedience! The loss I realize (and feel sorrow over) is a result of ungodly choices which hinder my fellowship with Jesus. I thank God for His forgiveness, which lifts the burdens, but not the memory of how I have disappointed Him as I have "grieved the Holy Spirit." I praise and thank God for His love that is beyond measure or even my ability to fully comprehend! He loves me, just as I am! Sometimes, believers stray from this truth by thinking that their obedience will cause God to love them more (or the converse could be at work too) which becomes a "performance trap." Thanks again for the encouraging reminder! "For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." Phil 1:6 |

Hi Tim, interesting answer. Just wondering, when we see the shell, we call it an egg shell; when we see a yolk, we call it an egg yolk. But might we have trouble knowing what the "white" substance is if we see it apart from the other two? Interesting to think about. . . Your Sister in Jesus! t |

Hi serenetime! Just wanted you to know that God used all this for His glory and purposes as I was put in a position to counsel another to swallow the same pill I so often "choke on!" Thanks for your concern! Momma

1446 | Sumission to authority? | Heb 13:17 | Mommapbs | 28688
Thanks Brian! You wrote: "Always remember, there are other ways to serve God with which you may be more comfortable." Yes, Brian, but I think that God will always call us out of our comfort zones! When Moses took off his shoes because he was standing on holy ground nrear the burning bush - it was probably pretty hot! Thanks for the reminder that the church is as imperfect as those who make it up - me included! And also that there are other ways to serve God. Our primary responsibility it to know God and make Him known. I guess where I am struggling is whether this is the place for both of these objectives! I would like to be able to share my gifts with those who share theirs with me! |

1449 | Sumission to authority? | Heb 13:17 | Mommapbs | 28684
Thanks Serenetime! I KNOW too that God will reveal His perfect will. The struggle is to not rush ahead of HIS timing! I REALLY want to hear from God. But there is another component to this equation, my husband , who has been deeply wounded. My prayer is that he will not react to the insensitivity of men and fully rely on God to work everything out for OUR good! I'll keep you posted as things unfold - everyday is such an awewsome adventure with the Lord!In His love, Mommapbs
1450 | Sumission to authority? | Heb 13:17 | Mommapbs | 28682
Searcher, thanks for your thoughts, this is not a major issue of doctrine (thank you Lord) but because of my Pastor's position, unless those who are in a "leadership" role subscribe to it, they cannot serve as a leader in the church - where one would be in a position to influence others. Our Pastor identified the problem (our lack of obedience to his directive)and told us that this was why he had excluded us from a leadership role. I have not discussed our disagreement, but have quietly removed myself from any area where there might be a conflict. The last thing I want to do is cause division! This is a minor issue, yet it has a major impact on our ability to use our gifts in the church. Still struggling and waiting for God to make His will clear, I don't want to leave unless HE tells us to do so! |

1451 | Death of the high priest? | Josh 20:6 | Mommapbs | 28622
Isn't it interesting that although the death was "accidental" or not intentional, it was still punishable by the victim's relatives? There was a reason to run and a need for refuge. I see a parallel with people today who are unaware of sin in their lives. They don't know that they are under the sentence of death; they are unaware of their need for refuge and most importantly, their need of The Savior! And for believer, I find that all too often we may be inclined to wink at sin by thinking, "It's OK, I didn't mean to do it!" But in God's Universe, sin is never OK! Thanks be to Jesus for making a Way for us to take refuge in Him, to be made righteous, and restored! Thanks for making me think this through! |

1452 | GOLD TEETH FILLINGS/ELVIS IMPERSONATORS? | NT general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 28600
Hi Goshen: Unless you are led by the Holy Spirit to point out deception to your "friend," I would not take it upon myself to look for a "clincher scripture" in rebuking his/her experience. It is the Holy Spirit who is responsible for conviction and correction. Sometimes, He uses others as His instruments, but never on their own authority. I understand your concern, and discernment that something is not "right" here, but my best counsel is to earnestly pray for your friend and this body that they may seek the face of God first. Perhaps all of this came about so that YOU would seek to know God and more about His character! "And we know that God causes all things, (including the situations that you have written about!) work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28 Be comforted that you may be a witness to what Jesus prophesied: "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." Matthew 24:24 KJV |

1453 | how should christians view evolution | 1 Tim 6:3 | Mommapbs | 28216
Please read "Darwin's Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution" by Michael J. Behe! Even a non-scientist can understand the brillant case Behe makes against the possibility of evolution! I gave my son a t-shirt for Christmas that reads: "Big Bang Theory. . .you've got to be kidding!" God. |

1455 | is no one going to answer me? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 27852
Dear Grace: Everyone struggles with approval. Some may be in denial, but we all want to be loved and accepted! God made us to be relational beings, to enjoy a love relationship with Him. When that was lost in the Garden, we have searched for "approval" ever since. It's a good thing, for most of us come to the Savior out of this God-given desire! It is HIS approval, His love that satisfies our deepest longings. I don't argue that it would be nice for others to appreciate your service, but their appreciation is insignificant in the economy of God. In everything, do unto the Lord and not for men - Check out Col 3:23-25! "Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. For he who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that without partiality." Those who have not taken the opportunity to build you up will have to give an account before the Lord. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of His discipline! Take heart, the Lord knows all that you do for Him. He sees the Love you have for Him and this is ALL that matters! Blessings! Mommapbs |

1456 | is no one going to answer me? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 27846
Dear Ed, I hope this answer was just a joke. Seems to me that humor is uncalled for in this instance. Hebrews 10:24 et al commands us to encourage one another; to spur one another on toward love and good deeds. . . we are to build one another up. (We should esteem the weaker vessel!) After reading her intial post,I felt a keen sympathy for this dear sister in Christ. Your response seems a bit out of character from other posts I have enjoyed of yours! Mommapbs |

1457 | Competition for our love Rev. 2:4-5 | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 27675
Good questions. Remember that Jesus' own brothers did not believe at first! None of them were His disciples either! That in itself is interesting and thought provoking. Salvation is not inherited through family association! We could speculate all day about why Jesus chose John, obviously, He knew what was best and John was it! Also, from what I read, there is disagreement about the life of Mary (when and where she died, etc) after Jesus' death. Bottom line is this: anything or anyone who becomes the object of our love and devotion ahead of Jesus Christ is an idol. And we don't have to bow down before it for something to become one! Regardless of of one's religious tradition, Mary was blessed among women, but there is nothing in Scripture to support that she was any more than just a woman, like you or me. She needed a Savior too! I think that the warning Jesus issued in Revelation 2:4,5 can be applied to any situation or relationship that diminishes our love and devotion to Him FIRST! Blessings to you and thanks for responding to my "note!" |

1460 | Church growth measured by numbers in pew | Acts 2:41 | Mommapbs | 25115
Thanks Joe: Great though provoking questions, ones that I am unable to discern the answers to at the present time. The gospel is proclaimed, but I believe we have been deficient in the "whole counsel of God" aspect of teaching and training. Too much emphasis is on programs to "get them in the door." You make a good observation wondering "whether the people are there because it makes them comfortable or it makes them Christians?" I know that God's hand is on this church, but I suspect it is in a position of discipline! The leaders of the church were SO SURE of God's will and undertook a plan which now, according to the Pastor, does not appear to be God's will at all. It is frustrating; we are taking real baby steps in our walk with the Lord, but I am encouraged to see many look to Him for leading! Thanks for your insight! |
