1302 | Love grow cold? | Matt 24:12 | Mommapbs | 47487
Greetings Ms Trish! Thanks for your reply. Good observations. Also, in reference to "lack of knowledge" check out these verses: "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." Pr 9:10 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge," Hosea 4:6 "But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase." Dan 12:14 From thse Scriptures we might conclude that is knowledge of the Holy One that will increase during the last days. (Hasn't this already happened?) However, as far as my question about "love growing cold" I am reminded about Jesus' description of the Laodicean church: "you are lukewarm" Rev 3:16. Isn't something that is "growing cold" lukewarm? I am presuming that the "love" referenced here (Mt 24:12) is LOVE FOR GOD. Therefore . . . IF the way we express our love for God is to obey His commands (For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; 1 John 5:3)and Jesus says that "love will grow cold" (lukewarm). . . THEN can we measure the temperature of our love for God as it is reflected in our obedience to His Word? Assessing the conditions of the world in which we live, it doesn't take an advanced degree to determine how far we have strayed from the directions God's Word gives for us to live a life that is pleasing to Him! We have seen great revival, an explosion of spiritual knowledge and yet now, might we also recognize the presence of a "love growing cold?" 9/11 produced a spark - but did it reach the tinder? Shouldn't obedient followers of Jesus at least make an effort to fan the flames? Discern the times! Blessings as you continue to trust and obey! Mommapbs |

1305 | Give me some direction in the bible. | Matt 19:9 | Mommapbs | 47455
Greetings Angel of Mercy! This is indeed a very difficult situation and we should grieve for our sister, but we need to be mindful of God's Word as we seek to encourage her in her life. Can you support what you have written from God's Word? running4mylife asked, " Please give me some direction in where I could turn in the BIBLE (emphasis mine) to strengthen my studying." God's Word says, "And a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, she must not send her husband away... Yet if the unbelieving one leaves, let him leave; the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us to peace." 1 Cor 7:13, 15 In Christ's love, Mommapbs |

1306 | Prophetic overtones re Israel? | Luke 22:51 | Mommapbs | 47357
Romans 13:8 was a good reference to look at!"Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law." Thanks Ray! Did Jesus owe anything? Did Jesus ever not love? Seems to me that Peter incurred the debt in this situation! Yet Jesus paid that too! How wonderful is our Lord! Thanks for the input! Blessings! Mommapbs |

1307 | Prophetic overtones re Israel? | Luke 22:51 | Mommapbs | 47345
Thanks Steve, but I'm not deterred by the lack of response. God's Word is precious! It will certainly accomplish its purpose in our lives. As I read, study, and ask questions it keeps me ever searching to know God more! Blessings, Mommapbs |

1308 | The Ultimate Expression of Narcissism | 2 Tim 3:2 | Mommapbs | 47342
Homosexuality - The Ultimate Expression of Narcissism! (DISCLAIMER: To avoid any misunderstanding of my intent, please understand that I am not characterizing those individuals who choose a life of "singleness" in my thesis! I believe that those who choose not to marry may find their completion in a relationship with God. The Lord is not only our Perfect Parent, but He tells us He will be our husband as well. "For your Maker is your husband- the Lord Almighty is his name- the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth." Isa 54:5) According to God’s Word, (2 Tim 3:1) "difficult times" will characterize the "last days." The Apostle Paul identifies the attributes of such a world in his letter to Timothy: “For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy” 2 Timothy 3:2 One, in particular, has caught my attention; "For men will be lovers of self." Narcissism, or self love, is more than just a self-centered pre-occupation. In its purest form, it totally rejects the Creator and His Creation – perhaps it even attempts to deify humanity! When God created the first man and woman, He took the woman from the man. Eve has often been described as Adam’s “missing parts.” “The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him’. (God recognized the need for intimate relationship and provided for it!) Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of man.’ For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.” Genesis 2:18-24 The "one flesh" aspect of this verse is not necessarily sexual - but rather it is the way God sees man as he was created; re-united with parts that he is missing; parts that will complement and complete him. “Opposites attract.” The opposite of man is woman. Heterosexuals and homosexuals both recognize a need for completion. Research has shown that homosexual men often seek partners who have qualities they lack. Yet when man chooses to “complete himself” with another of the same gender, he is rejecting the plan of completion God has provided. (Gen 2:18) To me, it's like looking in the mirror and seeking gratification from what is seen. (Remember that when Adam awoke from his surgical slumber, he didn't see himself; he saw EVE - WOW: what o woman!) In essence, homosexual choice asserts that THIS way is (equal to or) better than God's way! From the media, to our classrooms, and even many of our pulpits, homosexuality is not only tolerated, it is promoted. It is touted as an accepted, "alternative lifestyle." Now if there is an alternative, then there must also be a standard to deviate from! God's design, it seems, is no longer adequate to meet the desires of our progressive society. Yet, we all know, "It is not good for the man to be alone" . . . So the real question becomes, WHO “will make a helper suitable for him.”? Respectfully Submitted, Mommapbs |

1309 | should women be ministers and pastors? | 1 Tim 2:12 | Mommapbs | 47279
Greetings Listener! I am responding to your request with this note. This of course is a sensitive topic for me to address as a woman. I desire to be obedient to God's Word in my ministry so that it does not become "sinistry!" I think that there has been a good overview of the topic on the Forum and you can read the replies through the "search feature." From my PERSONAL perspective. I do not believe that a woman is called to be an "overseer" of the body based upon the qualifications given for elders in 1 Tim 3. As far as "teaching" or "preaching" goes, 1 Tim 1:12 is very sobering, yet I believe that if a woman is in submission to a male authority, she should be encouraged to share what God gives her to share with the bady - for we are all ONE in Christ. I continually seek to be in this kind of position in my ministry. I trust that even with my participation here I am subject to the leadership of the Lockman Foundation and their authority as represenatives of the Gospel of Jesus. I personally would be uncomfortable teaching a mixed class of men and women without the authority of a man present. Since, the man is the head of the woman and he is responsible for her spiritual welfare I must be careful to not usurp his authority or prevent him from assuming his God-given position! (Frankly, I think women have done just this! Is it any wonder that we are in such a leadership mess?!) Well, this is my thinking on the matter. Blessings, Mommapbs |

1310 | When does this take place? | Rev 12:10 | Mommapbs | 47265
Greetings Listener! I see a connection here too with the woman and her child. But that is another discussion. My observation is that the devil will be cast from God's presence prior to the rapture of the Church. It doesn't seem plausible that the Lord would take us to where we would still be subject to the "accuser of the brethern!" Well, that was my thinking on the matter. My computer crashed so I had to re-install EVERYTHING and I was unaware the this thread had been blocked. I see from an additional response that things got a LOT off base! Blessings, Mommapbs |

Greetings farout! I don't think you are "farout" by the way. I enjoyed reading about you too! I completely agree that we should really study God's Word. I guess this is what prompts me to ask my questions! NOW, how about answering my question? Blessing in Jesus to You! Mommapbs |

1314 | "abuse...insults...slander...suspicions" | 1 Tim 6:4 | Mommapbs | 47016
I received the following post from tomn. It has not been sent on to you; I will do so with my response! tomn wrote, "kalos I am sorry I tempted you to sin with anger of the flesh toward me. As shown by taking my words out of context. Will you forgive me?" Mommapbs response: Greeting tomn! Since you "inadvertantly" sent this to me I would like to respond by asking, can YOU really "tempt" someone else to sin? (See James 1:14 and Matthew 4:1-3) Secondly, I have read some of your posts on the Forum and the words you have chosen do not always have a Christ-like attitude attached to them. Why do you attempt to justify yourself and then ask for forgivness? If you are going to challenge the the beliefs of others who support themselves with God's Word, please remember to correctly use God's Word in the process. In Christ's Love, Mommapbs |

1315 | "doctrine of demons"? | 1 Tim 6:4 | Mommapbs | 46985
Well this old computer dinosaur has finally been able to find and follow the thread that has caused such upset! I believe I was among some earlier participants, and although frustrated by some of the posts, I had no idea that this topic had given birth to such "quarrelling" among the brethren! Now I think I'd ammend my assessment to say the that old devil is doing more than just a jig - he's also on a mission to select the tunes we'll most likely "dance to!" Hopefully, we all will learn to recognize the devil's music before we start humming along in the future! All too often, it seems that when we strive to "correct" one another, brotherly love is missing. Well I hope that this is behind us! I have lots of questions and things to ponder about that I hope others will help me with! Blessings! Mommapbs |

1316 | "abuse...insults...slander...suspicions" | 1 Tim 6:4 | Mommapbs | 46982
Greetings Kalos! In my last post to you, this is the reference to "cutting and pasting" I mentioned. I don't understand your objective here. My suggestion that the Father of Lies is roaring around is just that he is obviously doing a jig when we, the Beloved, ruminate on such things! Truly I understand how frustrating it is to receive words that are UNfittly spoken (or typed!)yet, we who belong to the Lord can trust Him to meet out discipline when and where it is needed! However, these statements you have provided are certainly inflammatory, and not what the Lord or the Lockman Foundation would approve of; so again, if you believe that abuse is ocurring here, report it! I have always received a reply for any concern I have raised! I'm praying that God will hold you close to His heart - He loves you and so do I! Blessings in Jesus' Sweet Name, Mommapbs |

1317 | What power and its purpose? | Acts 1:8 | Mommapbs | 46976
Power is something that can be measured. Just like electricity, we can't see this power but we can recognize or measure its presence by what it does or by what it accomplishes. Perhaps the question is not WHAT IS this power, but HOW can we see its ability, efficiency and might? And better yet, how can WE learn to recognize that it is indeed the activity of the Holy Spirit in operation? Perhaps we are better off leaving that to God - allowing Him to rightly judge each man's works! I suggest that the things we try to accomplish for the Lord in our own power will not stand the test of our work as described in 1 Cor 3:8-16. This is because we have not depended upon what (the power of the Holy Spirit) Christ has given us to build (work as witnesses) with! I believe the real measure of the work of the Holy Spirit that we have utilized in our God- given life here on earth will not be revealed until we meet at the judgment seat of Christ. I suspect that there are many people who will not be rewarded as WE might have expected on that Day! Mommapbs |

1318 | Bible IS the truth ONLY by containing it | Is 55:11 | Mommapbs | 46966
Greetings tomn! Since you are a relatively new member to the Forum, perhaps you have not read enough of the postings to see that words, hastily typed, often have a way of un-doing our good intentions! Every member's input allows each of us an opportunity to personally and earnestly seek God and His Truth! I encourage you to heed the instructions of Paul in Col 4:6 as you "converse" with others. "Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person." Blessings, Mommapbs |
