1321 | Won't heaven's joy be spoiled...? | Rom 1:18 | Mommapbs | 46561
"He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me." Matthew 10:37 Greetings Kalos! I too have struggled with these thoughts about those I love. By God's grace only am I able to love the Lord, more than others. . . and the more I learn to love the Lord, the more I understand about how He responds to those who reject Him. Ultimately, (meaning in eternity) how can we, as lovers of God, love those who have been judged for their rejection of Him, who loved them and gave Himself up for them? I guess this is where I have sought refuge from the reality of hell for those I know and love who will reject Jesus. Does this make sense to you? To me, when God wipes away my tears, these are not tears shed for others, but tears of remembrance of my own sin and denial of Jesus - for me, that will be the joy of heaven. And yes, I believe that remembrance of sin will be erased with regard to others as well. (Or our attitudes will finally be like Christ's) Until then, it is the joy of my salvation that keeps me going! Knowing that because of what Jesus did for me, sinner that I am, I have a home with Him in Heaven! I am saved from the wrath of God that will be poured out in judgment upon the unbelieving world. I know I am forgiven; I know that the shed blood of Christ has cleansed me, and though the Lord removes my sin and remembers it no more, I STILL remember the sin! The joy I look forward to is that the remembrance of my sin will finally be removed! Oh that will be glory for me! Just my thoughts. Thanks for sharing Packer's article! Mommapbs |

1322 | Did God make snakes? | John 3:14 | Mommapbs | 46513
"when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, he did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, (did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him NIV) but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" Jude 1:9 Michael chose to honor and glorify God by NOT accusing or judging - To do so would have usurped God's authority. (Isn't it interesting to note that one of Satan's objectives is to accuse the believer?!) Rev 12:10 Please consider all the posts that you have received on this matter. Remember that the Forum is just an instrument; I am praying the God will speak to you through His Word! Blessings in Christ's PERFECT love! Mommapbs |

1323 | Compare Rev 16:17 with John 19:30? | Rev 16:17 | Mommapbs | 46504
Greetings Searcher! Perhaps we cannot compare, for indeed they are different, but certainly we can meditate on these endings that are spoken of in God's Word and receive a blessing! My intent in this post was for reflection. Thanks for the warning though! Re: worship and "bowing low" In Exodus 20:4-5 We are commanded not to bow down before anything we make that represents things in heaven above or earth below. Yet in "liturgical" style worship services we observe celebrants "bow" before an altar or a cross. When we bow (or nod as some do) before a physical representation or "reminder" of the "One who has absolute rule over"us, is this worship? Just wondering if this might "peeve" you too? Thankfully we know that one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of Lord and King of Kings - to Him be ALL honor and glory and praise! Mommapbs |

1324 | Did God make snakes? | John 3:14 | Mommapbs | 46503
Greetings giam: God does not love Satan, nor should we! Be very careful how you handle God's Word! God tells us plainly to hate what is evil - Satan is evil. Psalm 97:10 Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. There is a difference between evil and enemies. You and I both have enemies. (Perhaps some participants may even think that they have enemies on this forum!)God has enemies too. But be careful: enemies are NOT synonomous with evil! When God tells us to love our enemies,it is a reminder of HOW God loves US - Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." This is important, even though we were ENEMIES of God, because of our sin, He still sent Jesus, to die in our place, so that we could be reconciled or brought into a right relationship with Him! God demonstrates HIS love to His enemies so that we will know how to respond to ours - with the same Agape love! Yes, we are told to "love our enemies," but we are not commanded to love evil anywhere in God's Word. Blessings on your evening! Mommapbs |

1325 | Is God really I am who or what I am? | John 3:14 | Mommapbs | 46478
Sorry to offend you Hank; the word used is "made" I thought I had changed it, my error. I hope you don't have trouble with INCARNATE.
1326 | Can i hate chickens and love JC? mt23:37 | John 3:14 | Mommapbs | 46459
Greetings Steve! Giam asked for my input on the iinitial question re: Gen 3:1; John 3:14 so I am copying some of my reply for you to consider in light of your statement: "Satan is the one who used the snake for his own purposes." Although Satan is a powerful being and could have used a created snake for his purposes, I suggest that the serpent in the Garden of Eden and the snake (suborder Serpentes) of Moses are not the SAME. "Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made." Suggests (to me anyway!)that the serpent was in a differentt category "than any beast" made by God. First of all, satan was a beautiful yet beguiling creature - just because he is called a serpent in Gen 3:1 does not mean that we are to classify him as a "snake." In fact, because of what God says in Gen 3:14 . . . "Cursed are you above all livestock and wild animals," . . . it seems reasonable to me that the serpent was not ANY of the species that God created in Gen 1:24-25! I have reached this conclusion BECAUSE when God surveyed what he had created, He declared it GOOD! Jesus said, "No one is good--except God alone." Luke 18:19. So, following this line of thinking, that old serpent (Satan) and snakes cannot be connected! All snakes are placed in the class Reptilia and the order Squamata (meaning "the scaly ones"), along with the lizards. Snakes are in the suborder Serpentes. Yes, the bronze snake of Moses was in this "suborder" Serpentes! (Check out what happened to it in 2 Kings 18:4!) But this snake is NOT to be confused with the serpent of Gen 3! Feel free to love snakes . . .in a herpetorium or in a handbag! Blessings! Mommapbs RE: God's curse on the serpent Satan in Gen 3:14. Frankly, I think that the most important aspect of this verse is the "crawling on the belly" part. What do you think this means? |

1327 | Two different groups of 144,000? | Rev 14:1 | Mommapbs | 46446
Greeting Giam! Thank you for the affirmation. It is a great temptation to try to get God's Word to "line up" with what we believe, rather than allowing God's Word to do the leading and the teaching. So, bearing this in mind, I am always looking for input from others and their reasoning from Scripture to support their thinking! Since I admit that most of the time I am "thinking out of the box," I am a little apprehensive of putting myself forward on the Forum - but when I see something unusual in Scripture, I sense an obligation to "hang it out on the line" for examination and input from others. God's Word is precious to me and I desire to "handle it correctly" 2 Tim 2:15. In Jesus, Mommapbs |

1330 | Thorn in the flesh | Is 57:1 | Mommapbs | 46090
Greetings in Jesus EdB. I'd like to affirm what you have written as I'm in the mix on this thread too. When I learned this important truth, our son was about 14 years old ('95). He was about halfway through a two year chemotherapy treatment for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Our bed time custom was to read a portion of God's Word and then I would ask him to tell me what God was saying to him from it. One night we were reading in Ephesians 2. Since he had grown up in an evangelical environment I assumed that he would highlight verses 8 and 9. To my surprise he said, "That workmanship verse." "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, unto good works which God had prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10) So I asked him, "What is God saying to you in this verse?" Without hesitation he replied, "It tells me that God has a plan for my life." I stared at him incredulously and queried, "HOW do you see that in THIS verse?" And looking at me as if I had two heads he said,"Because I'm still here. If your work for God is done, you should be happy to go home to Heaven!" From the mouths of babes . . . May God bless you through these thoughts today! Mommapbs |

1331 | "my people...are ignorant" | Matt 22:29 | Mommapbs | 46088
Greetings in Jesus' Name Radioman! Consider the following illustration of these very verses! Recently, I was made aware of a sermon delivered to members of my family. Sadly, they and countless others sitting in the pews of this mainline denomination church are ignorant of God's Word. They have no idea that what they are listening to (love and tolerance aka acceptance?) is far from the Truth of God's Word! Consider the following excerpt from the Easter Sunday Sermon! "It must be up to us who bear the mark of Christ forever, who no longer must hide our identity, to rearrange the world, so that the whole world will be sanctuary and fear and violence will be compressed into the alcove. That must be the point of this Easter Day. If you think about it, Jesus had found his rest. A borrowed tomb was opened and sanctuary offered, and in death he was safe. Except the work was not finished. Even his closest friends retreated to a safe house, with the doors locked because they were afraid. But they were seduced by a false hope, and when Jesus appeared to them in the locked room he enlarged their sanctuary to include the whole world. . . And had the frightened company of disciples stayed in their locked room forever, they would not have found true sanctuary and peace. If the hand of God truly reached into a rock tomb and marched death backward, then perhaps everything has been reversed. Perhaps we have awakened a world in which gay men will not need a sanctuary such as the club on Main Street, will not need confidential guidebooks, will not need an underground network of safe places to enjoy the fruits of the heart and the grace of intimacy. But today it is enough to tell the story of Jesus' withdrawal from false sanctuary, to sing the canticles of resurrection, and to recognize the risen one outside his safe place. I can imagine Mary running down the street against the receding shadows of the dawn, her heaving body silhouetted against the sun, throwing open every door she can find and gasping the truth, "I have seen the Lord." Open the doors and open the windows, come out of the darkness and release your fear, for Christ is risen from the dead. Amen." After reading this distorted message I wonder, can we plead, "God forgive them, for they know not what they do?" Not according to God's Word! (Romans 1 makes that abundantly clear!) Ignorance is NOT bliss! They are without excuse. And those charged with "teaching the truth" . . . My response is what God has to say about such matters! “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness . . .” Isaiah 5:20 “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” 2 Timothy 4:3 In His Grip, Mommapbs |

Another thought from me: MANY are healed who have no faith - so what part of healing does faith play? I believe that God is absolutely in control and those things that I do not understand fall under His sovereignty alone - I'm comforted here.
1333 | Do you forgive Judas? | John 13:11 | Mommapbs | 45801
Greetings Love Fountain2! Thank you for your affirmation today. May I encourage you in your pursuit of the Lord with John 15. We are commanded to "love one another." Sometimes it is difficult to see this in action in cyberspace and our fingers get away from the true foundation of our faith - Jesus. Forgiveness is never wrong. Grace and peace be multiplied to you and yours today! In Jesus' perfect love, Mommapbs |

1334 | Sealing of the 144,000? | Rev 14:1 | Mommapbs | 45680
This verse might also suggest that because they were Jews, the chosen people of God, it was necessary for them also to recognize Jesus as Messiah - hence the two names.
1335 | Sealing of the 144,000? | Rev 14:1 | Mommapbs | 45672
Greeetings! Please support your statements Scripturally: 1.This number is also spoken of as the Bride of Christ 2.Thus they were not chosen untill Christ was resurrected.Starting with the Apostles. 3.The Bible also speaks of a great crowed that no man could number that would be ressurected to the earth. (Rev 7:9 -the scene described is in HEAVEN where the Temple of God, and His throne remain until the time of New Heaven and the New Earth in Rev 21-22) Also, could you please explain why this is interesting? You cited: Revelation 14:1 (AMP) THEN I looked, and behold, the Lamb stood on Mount Zion, and with Him 144,000 [men] who had His name and His Father's name inscribed on their foreheads.( This is also a very intersting verse because it mentions that they would have Jesus's name and his Fathers name while they both are in heaven.)WHY? Thanks for following this up with me! Mommapbs |

1336 | Bronze snakes? | 2 Kin 18:4 | Mommapbs | 45546
Greetings Searcher! Interesting observation. After studying the kings of the divided kingdom for several weeks, I have been frustrated with all their evil deeds, etc. Even those kings that were described as being good did not remove the high places where the poeple worshipped. (I guess convenience reigned back then too!) FINALLY, along comes Hezekiah! If you read what he did in this passage, you will see that he alone, of the many kings since David, desired to worship the Lord the way HE instructed us to worship HIM! This prompted me to consider what in our worship of the Lord might be seen as a "bronze snake." If you recall, the people were just told to look at the snake for healing. WHO wrought the healing? We learn from this passage that the Israelites had been worshipping the snake rather than the HEALER! I do see some parallels in the Church today. Just wondering if anyone else did as well! 1337 | Need help putting Rev. 16 in lay terms. | Revelation | Mommapbs | 45499
Greetings Smokey G! Just some food for thought as you discuss this topic . . . this suffering described in Rev 16 can not be compared to what awaits those who refuse to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior! Soul Death or final separation from God is their destiny!! I think we (the Church in general) have too long negelected this aspect of our faith as well as a thorough discussion of the "Last Days!" May God guide and bless you as you share His Word! Mommapbs |

1338 | Suffering for Christ's sake | Col 1:24 | Mommapbs | 45214
Greetings Cheryl, I just jumped into this thread and haven't had time to read every post. Wonder if you have considered 1 Peter 5:1-11 yet? I think that regardless of what KINDS of sufferings we experience, this passage is comforting. v 10 "And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace (Who imparts all blessing and favor), Who has called you to His (own) eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you." 1339 | Who are these? | Rev 13:6 | Mommapbs | 45096
Thanks 2Samuel22! I concurr with your "take" on this passage. Do you think the word temple refers to a spiritual or physical structure? Since you have cited this chapter as your screen name, do you believe that this is a reference to the prophetic events of the Last Days? (cf Psalm 18:6-20 for my post) Blessings, Mommapbs |
