Greetings LC133, If I answer all of your questions correctly will you let me know if I passed theology 101? Anything less then acing the class will be a disgrace to the 40 years that I have been studying the Bible. If I answer your question in Koine Greek could you read it yet? 142 | Believing In Jesus | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 160920
Hi NightJay, That is a very sweet story and a moment that you can cherish: be sure to tell her what Jesus has done for her. Maybe I can shed a little light on your understanding of the part where people only live to be 120 years old as you suggest. I used to think the same thing, that people could only live 120 years; I read it from the verse in Gen. Genesis 6:3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. It was pointed out to me that it would be 120 years from that moment until God would actually destroy mankind with the flood. The next few verses point out why God was going to do it. Genesis 6:5-8 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. [6] And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. [7] And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. [8] But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Those in Noah's day only 120 years to get their soul in order before the flood waters would wipped them out. Is that food for thought? Here are some verses that you can use for your grandmother. Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. [15] For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. [16] Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. It’s a real privilege that we have, to be able to pray for those that we love and hold dear; and the fact that the Lord actually hears and answers to the call of His children; those trusting in the finished work of God’s Son Jesus. Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Dear Nightjay, Don’t get hung up on all of the dos and don’ts of the Christian way of life. This is where the Jews got all twisted and bent out of shape and started putting more emphasis on there tradition then they did on what God’s Word said. Matthew 15:2-3 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. [3] But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Don’t get all tangled up with a bunch of rules and regulations! 2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Col. 2:16-23 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: [17] Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. [18] Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, [19] And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. [20] Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, [21] (Touch not; taste not; handle not; [22] Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? [23] Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh. Have a great day, CDBJ |

Hello Nsquared, and welcome to the forum. You say, “Christianity emphazises alot on equality and the aspect of forgiveness?” What is it exactly that you mean by forgiveness? Are you saying that God just excuses our sin condition or what? I think I can answer your question but I am not sure if we are on the same page and I don’t want to give you bad information. I can’t say why people believe what they want to believe but the Bible makes no mention of a place called purgatory. When you stop and think about it, why would such a place be needed, if one really understands what the Bible teaches? CDBJ |

152 | Christianity vs. Other religions | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 161843
Technically speaking, Christianity isn’t a religion it’s a relationship. Religions are a counterfeit contrivance of the devil and are in opposition to the work of God. 2 Tim. 2:25-26 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; [26] And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. In religion, man is supposed to get all of the credit for the work he does. i.e. the point system. In Christianity, God does all the work and He gets all the credit and all man can do is thank Him. There won’t be any braggers in heaven!! Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. 153 | God sanctions murder of the innocent? | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 161851
Are you implying that God didn’t know what He was doing and you could do a better job! You can assume all you want about God but God’s Word informs you that you will end up a looser in the long run. Romans 9:19-20 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? [20] Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? You tell God how wrong He is and we will see how well you make out. I have read the end of the Book and my friend you will lose! God has a reason for everything that He does and sometimes he doesn’t see fit about informing us why, but He is who He is and He is right no matter what He does, even if we don’t understand it. Col. 1:16-17 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: [17] And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 154 | How to witness to an Islamic? | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 164344
I don’t know who Allah is because I have never personally met him. I can’t say the same about Jesus, God’s Son, because I have had and I am still having a personal relationship with him now. Ones that haven’t had this relationship don’t have a clue what I am referring to. It’s that same as trying to explain the color red to a person that’s been blind all of their life. The relationship comes about by the working of Gods’ mercy in action, through faith in God’s Son, Jesus. i.e. it can’t be earned or deserved. God is Holy and pure and righteous, so that it is impossible for God to have a relationship with man because of man’s unholy deplorable condition. The only way for man to have a relationship with God is for man to be as good as God is, and we humans just can’t crank out the perfection that’s needed. Man is sinful, according to God, and God can’t just turn His head and excuse sin; the sin problem must be solved and paid for. For man to pay the price, that a Holy God demands, would require that man be separated for God; this is to the point that man could never be near God. The problem is that God is love and he has a fantastic love attitude toward man but on the other hand God is “Just” and he “must” punish sin. God came up with the perfect solution: he decided to pay the price for sin, which is spiritual death or, separation from him. There is a glitch though, God can’t die, it’s impossible for him to die. God had the good sense to know this, so he made the decision, in eternity past to come down to Earth and become a man. This man would be the Son of God and not a descendent of the first man who sinned, so he isn’t considered of the seed of Adam. In fact God’s Son would be born of a female Virgin to prove that the male gender had nothing to do with his birth. This means that Adam’s old sin nature wasn’t passed on to this promised one from God, who would be eligible to pay the price for sin, since he had no sin of his own. This one from God would become our sin substitute and could pay the price that a Holy God demanded. God says that if we will accept the work that he did for us, in the person of his Son that he will credit to our account what the Son deserved. The person that God sent was his precious and loving Son Jesus. If we reject Jesus, and what he did for us, God has no other solution and no other choice but to let us be separated from him for ever. Thus the following statement made by Jesus. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If the adversary, the devil, can get peoples minds diverted in any direction away from what God himself did in the person of God’s Son, that puts them on the road to personal destruction. It doesn’t mater what name one wants to tack on God the results will be the same if one doesn’t trust in the perfect work of Jesus God’s only unique Son. Guess who gets all the credit? GOD I hope you will have a nice day, CDBJ |

The biggest, as I see it, would be the prophecies in the Old Testament that were fulfilled in the person of Jesus. It has been calculated, by someone who is good at math and a lot smarter then I am, that the prophecies that all came to pass in the one person of Jesus the Christ where close to thirty three trillion to one odds. I can’t even imagine how much that is; I don’t have a frame of reference for figures that high, CDBJ |
