Bible Question:
Hi, my faith today has to do with my grandma. She has a sickness that makes her memory be effected to the point that she can't remember things. Now I got together with the family tonight, and she was there, and she seemed to be doing great. I mentioned to my granpda that i gave my life to the Lord in fall 2004, and I've underdstood a lot since then in my own ways through him (Jesus). So my faith today, with love of course, has to do with my grandma having the faith and renewing her health and living her life that God has for her yet, and she is like 65 I Think, somewhere around there. Now my grandpa who is having a hard time dealing with her being like this. Okay so I approached my grandma and I told her that I'm aware of her health issues, and I told her also this night I gave my life to the lord and she said to me she believes in the Lord also. I also let her know, and keep in mind I was doing this to help her and maybe get a little more insight into her about the Lord. I let her know that with the Lord anything is possible, and I also said that, believe it is because you believe it is through him. I truly believe that anything that we believe through Jesus, and I think to some extent, meaning what is right, it can be done. That's with the whole love and faith. She told me that thank you for that and I can tell it was emotional for her, and it was a little for me too, but I wanted to let her know that, and I really haven't ever approaced her like this ever in my whole life that I've known her, but I can understand her sickness, but I also know and believe that the Lord can cure her, and let her live her life until she is ready, you know when were saposed to live until were 120 the longest we can live. I believe that in her through Jesus. Now my question comes in. My faith and love in this matter, what do you think about this? |
Bible Answer: Hi NightJay, That is a very sweet story and a moment that you can cherish: be sure to tell her what Jesus has done for her. Maybe I can shed a little light on your understanding of the part where people only live to be 120 years old as you suggest. I used to think the same thing, that people could only live 120 years; I read it from the verse in Gen. Genesis 6:3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. It was pointed out to me that it would be 120 years from that moment until God would actually destroy mankind with the flood. The next few verses point out why God was going to do it. Genesis 6:5-8 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. [6] And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. [7] And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. [8] But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Those in Noah's day only 120 years to get their soul in order before the flood waters would wipped them out. Is that food for thought? Here are some verses that you can use for your grandmother. Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. [15] For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. [16] Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. It’s a real privilege that we have, to be able to pray for those that we love and hold dear; and the fact that the Lord actually hears and answers to the call of His children; those trusting in the finished work of God’s Son Jesus. Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Have a nice day, CDBJ |
