1381 | What is ok in a premarital relationship? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 39423
Hello sunnyh That question is usually asked with the intent of determining what a couple can do physically or sexually without "breaking the rules." Or it's used to find out if someone has already broken the rules. Scripture plainly states that fornication is wrong (Matt 15:19; 1 Cor 6:9). The strictest definition for this word is sexual intercourse by an unmarried person. It can, however, rightly be broadened to include all that leads up to it. So to answer your question Biblically, the only things I know that are ALWAYS permitted in a premarital relationship are fellowship, worship, discipleship, teaching, and prayer. Beyond this you have to set your own limits. Steve |

1382 | holy spirit is called He,why? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 39421
Hello ssonkom Basically, it's because He is a person and not a mystical aura or force. Also, He is fully God as much as the Father and the Son. Steve |

1383 | is there proper dress for women | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 39039
Hello Lillian 1 Tim 2:9-10 Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, [10] but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness. Some have taken this to mean that women are to NEVER braid hair, wear jewelry, or have fancy attire. And that modesty is being covered head to toe by a dress or skirt (pants being forbidden). The true intent of the passage is that a woman is to be noted more for her character than her outward appearance. Steve |

1386 | IS MICHAEL AND JESUS THE SAME PERSON? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 37433
Hello Art There is no evidence to think Jesus and Michael are the same. In fact, Jude 9 should put away any thought to the contrary. If Michael has to defer to the Lord, he cannot be God incarnate, the Lord Jesus. The Angel of the Lord is definitely Jesus. You see in each appearance of this "angel," He is acknowledged as the most high God. This fits the Lord Jesus wonderfully. Steve |

1387 | Am I lost for eternity because of sin | 1 John 1:9 | srbaegon | 37406
Hello godschild_73 The attached verse is the best place to start with this answer. God forgives His children who sin. The only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (i.e. refusing to believe what the Holy Spirit is teaching or leading). The fact that you want this right relationship with God is an indication that the Holy Spirit is actively drawing you to do the right thing. All is not lost! I would say you should tell your husband, just because you two are one flesh and are to be acting as one. Steve |

1388 | Doves? | John 2:16 | srbaegon | 37400
Hello canwdn I would see it as an act of mercy that he didn't destroy the bird cages so that the doves would fly away. There was no intent to destroy their livelihood. The coins, oxen, and sheep could be recovered easily enough, but trapping new birds would be a great deal of work. Steve |

1389 | Heresy or true? | Rom 10:17 | srbaegon | 37398
Hello MRkornmann This has been addressed several times before on this forum. Try doing a search. In short this preacher is teaching heresy. Nobody can get saved apart from believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. Steve |

1390 | When did the Word become the Son? | Heb 5:5 | srbaegon | 37394
Hello Brent What you refer to is called "Incarnational Sonship." The most notable proponent of this view was John MacArthur of Grace Community Church and "Grace to You" radio program. I say was because he has reversed his position to "Eternal Sonship" which also uphold. See http://www.gty.org.uk/articles/sonship2A.htm Steve |

1393 | Can we Prophesy? | Gen 1:27 | srbaegon | 36488
Hello Leftwich, You have listened to a deceiving spirit. The three that came to Abraham were God Himself in human form (18:1,13-33) and two angels (18:16,22; 19:1). Steve |

1395 | non canonical books reliable ? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 36298
Hi Roland7, The best answer I can give: These and other non-canonical works are reliable only in demonstrating the thoughts and intent of their respective authors. Some are historically accurate, some are not. Concerning the two you mentioned--the book of Enoch is quoted in Jude (but that doesn't make it divinely-inspired); and the Gospel of Thomas is an inaccurate recounting of the life of Christ with some outlandish tales. On the other hand, the book of 1 Maccabees is great history. 2 Maccabees is great fiction, but poor history. Steve |

1397 | What verse comes to mind? Fear Him only | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 36113
Hi Ray, Jude 1:24-25 (ESV) Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. Steve |

1398 | who wrote Hebrews? | Hebrews | srbaegon | 36088
Good morning, There have been many suggested authors: Paul Barnabas, Apollos, etc. All we know is that it was a man based on Greek language use when the writer refers to imself. But the truth is that the author deliberately removes authorship--even of the verses cited from the OT. Evidently, he wanted nothing detracting from the central theme of the Lord Jesus Christ.
