1301 | How do we do the How? | Gal 5:16 | prayon | 4016
"Live by the Spirit, I say, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh". The HOW is through the strength of the Holy Spirit. We can do all things through Christ that strengthens us (Phil 4:13). To walk by the Spirit is living each day controlled and guided by the Holy Spirit. Be directed by His promptings. When we walk a Godly walk we are walking with the Spirit. And if you feel you might be unable to do this remember 1Cor 10:13 say that God will not test us beyond what we can endure. Does this answer you question? prayon

1303 | Did Jesus' disciples know who He was? | Matt 17:2 | prayon | 3938
The disciples learned who He was at different times. For some it was a gradual process from witnessing His miracles and healings. Peter, James and John had a special revelation of Jesus divinity when He was transfigured before them on the mountain in Matthew 17: 1-8. In Matthew 17:9, however, Jesus instructs the disciples accompanying Him not to discuss the transformation with anyone, including the other disciples, until after Jesus was raised from the dead because neither the disciples nor outsiders would understand the meaning until after His resurrection. Judas did not realize who He truly was until the end when he returned the pieces of silver Matthew 27:3. In Matthew 16:13-20 Peter first publically acknowledges Jesus as the Messiah, the son of the living God. I don't believe some of them knew until Jesus was raised from the dead and appeared to them. Thomas did not believe that the Jesus had truly risen until he touched Him, John 20:24-29 Many were startled and terrified when He appeared to the disciples in Luke 24:36. If they truly had no doubt that He was the Messiah why were they startled to see Him, shouldn't they of been expecting Him? Mark states in 16:14 that Jesus upbraided or rebuked them for their lack of faith and stubborness because they had not believed those who saw Him after He had risen. If they truly believed they should of been expecting Him. |

1304 | Theology of BSF? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 3933
I have been going to BSF for a little over a year now. I LOVE it and I have learned more in the past year than I have in many years of "regular" Bible Studies. The main focus of BSF is application of the bible to your daily life. BSF does not go into any church doctrine. It is interdenominational and makes no judgements on who is right, who is wrong, or how different things such as baptism should be done. They teach strictly from what the bible says, and how to apply it to your daily life. If there is a issue with different viewpoints such as when the rapture will occur they will give all viewpoints and let you decide which one you think is right. They have a challenging fourfold approach to the 7 year long in depth studies. They use daily questions, discussion groups, enriching notes and interesting lectures. The classes are 7 years long and include studies of the books of Genesis, Matthew, Romans, John, as well as the life of Moses (which will be the study next year), history of Isreal and the minor prophets, and the Acts of the apostles. I hope I have answered your questions. I will be happy to give you any more information you want. prayon |

1305 | What does it mean to be an "evangelist". | Eph 4:11 | prayon | 3520
An evangelist is one who proclaims the good news about God's kingdom and Jesus Christ. To be an evangelist is to be responsible for proclaiming this good news and to spread His word to those who have not heard it. Evangelist is one of the 5 gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in Eph 4:11
1306 | Who is 'at ease in Zion?' | Amos 6:1 | prayon | 3514
I believe that it could portray New Testament people as well as those in the Old Testament, maybe even more so. Wealth and complacency is more of a problem today than ever before. We need to start placing the concerns and needs of others ahead of our wants.
1307 | Who are the woeful scribes? | Matt 23:13 | prayon | 3513
Charis, scribes were members of a learned class who studied the scriptures and served as copyists, editors, and teachers. At first the priests were responsible for the scientific study and the professional communication of this legal code. This position of strength was later passed to the scribes. The position given to them allowed them to enforce their rules and practices with binding authorty. As interpreters of the scriptures they provided the rules for human conduct out of their study. They often diveloped and attitude based on their professional privledges and often resulted in pride. Jesus warned against these excesses and boldly attacked the religious hypocrisy of the scribes in the woes. (Nelsons Bible Dictionary). Their modern counterpart would be those who teach the gospel how they interpret it and with pride. |

1310 | why is masterbation a sin. | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 3352
"Victor" - "Charlene" asked a similar question on 4/3. I suggest reading the answer from "Ray". I think he looks at it in different way than the other answers you have received. I suggest taking it to God in prayer and go with what you believe He is telling you. |

1312 | What's the sign? | Not Specified | prayon | 3257
While talking to His disiples about His return he states that the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. He then says that the SIGN of the Son of Man will appear in the sky. I have heard tell that this sign is His shakina (sp?) glory. Is this the general concensus? Can anyone elaborate more on this?

1316 | Did Jesus eat unclean foods? | 1 Corinthians | prayon | 3256
To my knowledge no he did not eat "unclean" foods. Jesus was a Jew and therefore followed the Jewish laws set down by God in the Old Testament. If He would of not followed the Jewish customs and laws he would not of been able to have the impact that He had. I am not sure in where you are referring to in Mark. If you are referring to the dream in which Paul had that was after Jesus assecended in to heaven. Hope I helped. God Bless. |

1319 | Was Adam a White Man | Gen 1:26 | prayon | 2780
The only thing that the bible said about Adam was that he was made in God's image. I am not able to find where in the bible it says who even named Adam. In the universal subject guide in my Strongs Concordance it states that Adam means "red earth".
1320 | Why not Jesus' words in Red? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 2706
I can give you 3 reasons why I like all black. 1) When your eyes are not that great, like mine, it is a lot harder to read the red than the black 2) Highliters don't work as well over red 3) I make a lot of notes in the margins, between lines, ect. in my bible. The really important notes I write in red because I will be able to notice them faster. |
