1041 | Is this The Right Tongues?!!!! | James 1:20 | Val | 197674
Again I would direct your focus away from the gift and to the giver, our Lord Jesus Christ. Take your bible and mark every reference to Him. The next step is to write out by hand each of these verses. Start in Matthew and go through Revelation. Meditate on these verses and memorize them. Talk to Him in prayer. Use the verses you have studied in your prayers to Him. He will lead you in all truth through the power of His Spirit. May you grow in the grace and knowledge of Him. When you finish this exercise do the same with the Father God and after this exercise do the same with the Holy Spirit. Also mark pronouns and other words referencing them. May God bless you. When you finish these exercises let us know what He has taught you. Merry Christmas.
1042 | Is this The Right Tongues?!!!! | James 1:20 | Val | 197677
Just focus on one book at a time. For instance, Matthew. When completed go to Mark. I am not omitting the Old Testament. I am providing a starting point. Its the best way to study and has been proven to be the best way for retention of what has been studied. I hope you will try it as well. You might try one of the short books that has only 1 to 5 chapters. Once you have done it let me know what you learned. God Bless. Oh by the way, do you know what God commanded the kings of Israel to do the first thing when they became king?

1046 | Faith without works is dead. What mean? | James 2:26 | Val | 197481
It means that you will act on your faith. You will mature in the faith. You will grown in your faith. It is speaking of a genuine saving faith. The examples are given there in James such as Abraham and Rahab. Abraham offered his son. Rahab helped the spies escape. A study of the entire book of James will help you to see what genuine faith is and what is meant by works. May God bless. |

1047 | Abraham and Abimelech | James 4:2 | Val | 213117
Dear Cheri, A topical study on prayer would be helpful. I will make two points concerning your question. The first point is that God works through the prayers of His people. This is the way He has chosen to work. This is why prayer is so important. The second point is that Abimelech is not someone who worships God. He worships some other god. He became involved in this situation because of the deception of Abraham. God has mercy on him. Sometimes unbelievers can be an example to believers. They know that believers are different and when they act contrary to that they call them on it. I don't think Abraham was exalted in any way. It was probably a rebuke to him because he was afraid of telling Abimelech the truth from the start rather than trusting God for the circumstances. Holding to Him - Val

1051 | Can we pray for others sins to be forgiv | James 5:16 | Val | 201687
James 5:20 It is better to show them the error of their ways in gentleness and love. Pointing them in the right direction is better than leaving them in the wilderness. We are told to remove the plank in our own eyes first. |

1053 | How Far Are We To Suffer For Christ? | 1 Pet 4:16 | Val | 206781
Bowler, Are you saying in your first paragraph that obeying Christ does not provide "a nice life". Your statement "they would have to leave everything behind that they have worked so hard to have" is difficult to understand. Are you saying professors of Christ should have no possessions? Your statement "Their lives would definitely be ruined" is difficult to understand as well. Your further statements are hard to understand as well without details. From your perspective it seems you think you are the only one who is on track. That is a Pharisee attitude is it not? Matt 7:3 "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 3 Matt 7:4 "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye? 4 Matt 7:5 "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. |

1054 | How Far Are We To Suffer For Christ? | 1 Pet 4:16 | Val | 206862
Dear Azure, all your posts on this subject have been very edifying and clear. As always your pleasant demeanor is much appreciated. You are an inspiration to me in the way you speak with love and firmness. Your love for christians and the lost is evident by your posts. Thank you for answering the questions and concerns brought up. The prayer of Hannah comes to mind when I think of the awesomeness of our great God. May I share it with all. 1 Sam 2:1 Then Hannah prayed and said, "My heart exults in the LORD; My horn is exalted in the LORD, My mouth speaks boldly against my enemies, Because I rejoice in Your salvation. 1 Sam 2:2 "There is no one holy like the LORD, Indeed, there is no one besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God. 1 Sam 2:3 "Boast no more so very proudly, Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth; For the LORD is a God of knowledge, And with Him actions are weighed. 1 Sam 2:4 "The bows of the mighty are shattered, But the feeble gird on strength. 1 Sam 2:5 "Those who were full hire themselves out for bread, But those who were hungry cease to hunger. Even the barren gives birth to seven, But she who has many children languishes. 1 Sam 2:6 "The LORD kills and makes alive; He brings down to Sheol and raises up. 1 Sam 2:7 "The LORD makes poor and rich; He brings low, He also exalts. 1 Sam 2:8 "He raises the poor from the dust, He lifts the needy from the ash heap To make them sit with nobles, And inherit a seat of honor; For the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, And He set the world on them. 1 Sam 2:9 "He keeps the feet of His godly ones, But the wicked ones are silenced in darkness; For not by might shall a man prevail. 1 Sam 2:10 "Those who contend with the LORD will be shattered; Against them He will thunder in the heavens, The LORD will judge the ends of the earth; And He will give strength to His king, And will exalt the horn of His anointed." I believe we serve a God who is able to deal with and does work in people's lives. Blessings to you, Sister Azure Val |

1055 | can Satan plant thoughts into our minds? | 1 Pet 5:8 | Val | 214325
Yes. The word heart and mind can be used interchangeably in this verse. In Acts 5:3 we are told that Satan filled Ananias mind to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land. We do not know how these thoughts, we could also call them suggestions, get from Satan into our minds but we know that they do. This is why Paul states in 2 Corinthians 10:5 to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Evil thoughts can also come from our own fleshly desires. Sincerely, Val |

1056 | can Satan plant thoughts into our minds? | 1 Pet 5:8 | Val | 214333
Hi Brother John, I was careful in answering the question. I have dealt with this question before and spent the time looking studying it. Thank you for your concern. A word study of Satan, one of the mind/heart and others of course can be done by anyone wanting to pursue the topic. I believe the verse I quoted speaks for itself and anyone can study it for themselves. Thank you for your concern. Have a great day. God Bless. Val

1058 | Actual bodies in heaven? | 1 John 3:2 | Val | 213924
Dear MJH, I would say heaven is our ultimate destination. I understand what you are saying however, since most of the physical church is not into bible study this one sentence brings about confusion to some. Sincerely, Val
1059 | Actual bodies in heaven? | 1 John 3:2 | Val | 213954
I believe the best example that we can look at is the resurrected body of Christ. In reading the four gospels you will see different things about His resurrectd body. That He could walk through walls. That the disciples could see and touch Him. Also, you may look at the mount of transfiguration in which you will see Elijah and Moses and the Lord talking. They were recognizable. You ask what is the significance of a body in heaven. Well simply that we may recognize each other and have a relationship with one another. This is why we so look forward to heaven is to enjoy our relationship with Christ and the belivers of the bible and our own families who have already gone on. It gives us hope. A sure hope that those relationships that we once had on earth will be renewed when we get to heaven. To me that is the greatest significance; to see my Lord and my family. Sincerely, Val

Dear Bill, I don't know what your problem is and I really don't care. Your sarcasm is noted. If you want to discuss this topic intelligently we can do so but if you only want to demean others responses then it would be to no avail. You chose. Sincerely, Val
