1021 | OT says Altar of Insence is outside viel | Heb 9:2 | Val | 214285
Welcome Roberta, M. C. Tenney addressed this in The Zondervan Pictorial Encyclopedia of the Bible - The position of this altar in the Tabernacle seems to have been within the inner sanctuary just before the Ark of the covenant, Exod 40:5; Lev 16:11-14, on which the high priest sprinkled the blood of atonement once a year, Exodus 30:10. The golden altar of Solomon's temple was placed in the inner sancturay, 1 Kings 6:20,22, but in the third Temple it seems to have been outside the veil within the Holy Place, Luke 1:10. Revelation speaks of an altar of incense that stood before the throne of God, Rev 8:3. The reference to the golden altar in Hebrews 9:3 agrees that it was within the inner sanctuary. The apparent conflict between Exodus 30:6 and 40:26 and the other passages which locate it beyond the veil has been given different solutions. Snaith, Leviticus and Numbers, p.43, suggests that the original text was modified to suit the arrangement of the second and third Temples, and that there was no altar of incense in the Tablernacle. He follows Wellhausen's argument that two separate sources are responsible for the difference. In the light of the fact that small incense altars were used by the Canaanites from the earliest times in Pal., it is hardly possible that such were unknown, or that an altar of incense could not have been part of the furniture of the Tabernacle. The apparent discrepancy in the location of the golden altar may arise from differing usages between the Tabernacle and the Temple, or from the fact that it stood so close to the Ark that it was classed with the Holy of Holies because it represented an intercessory ministry in the presence of God. One Jewish source suggests that Exodus 25:1 through 27:19 is the blueprint for the construction of the Tabernacle, while Exodus 40:1-33 describes the actual assembling of the building and consequently a modification of position. - M.C. 1022 | Did Jesus speak at birth? | Heb 10:5 | Val | 193794
His public ministry began at around 30 and lasted for three years. If you read the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John you will be blessed. Always pray first for understanding and find a bible believing christian in your area to help you with any questions you might have. Perhaps this may be a family member or friend. Ask God to lead you to such a person. Hope this helps. Respectfully submitted, |

Rabban, I have just completed a Precept study on Leviticus and am now beginning a Precept study on Hebrews. Thank you so much for your beautiful commentary on these passages. Dear Crystal, "willfully sinning" means one has no intention of stopping. You have been given some good scriptures and comments. Find yourself a christian mentor, preferably a woman family member or friend. Find a good bible believing church and participate with like minded believers who can help you grow and support you in being accountantable to Christ. Spend much time in prayer and bible study. Tell everyone you are not the person you used to be but have a new life in Christ. They may test you so turning them down will show them you mean business and it will be a testimony to your new life in Christ. Merry Christmas - Val
1026 | How were non Jews saved B.C.? | Heb 11:13 | Val | 199804
Yes. How - by following Jehovah. An example would be Ruth in the book of Ruth.
1027 | Healing, which way to believe? | Heb 11:32 | Val | 197881
Hebrews 11:32-40 is a passage that shows a contrast between those who are delivered from death on this earth and those who are not delivered. It is an opinion that those who do not receive deliverance in the physical on earth have a higher purpose for their suffering. All believers in Jesus are healed when they go home to be with him at the appointed time. He says He has numbered our days so be assured we will not die until our appointed time comes.
1028 | meaningless repetition define? | James | Val | 195076
The concept is that you pray with a sincere, genuine heart desire not just to be seen by men or flippantly. The book of James is excellent regarding how to pray.
1029 | Questioning God. | James 1:1 | Val | 190908
James 1:1 James, a bond-servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes who are dispersed abroad: Greetings. James 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, James 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. James 1:4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. James 1:7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, James 1:8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. |

1031 | Questioning God. | James 1:1 | Val | 190922
WOS-Isn't "questioning God's will" different from questioning why a bad thing has happened. We know that the Lord is just and pure and that there is no injustice in Him. To ask Him why a "bad thing" has happened isn't necessary "questioning His will" as you say. It is merely trying to make sense of the experiences of this world. When going through a bad experience who better to ask that the One who created us? Just trying to understand a crisis is not a bad thing. In fact, they draw us nearer to the Lord when we throw ourselves on Him and trust Him to be fair even when the world and the evil ones in it are not fair. James 1:16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. James 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. |

Titus 1:1 Paul, a bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness, Titus 2:12 instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, 2 Pet 1:3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 2 Pet 1:6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, 2 Pet 1:7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. |

Luke 2:25 And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him. Luke 2:26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. Luke 2:27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law, Luke 2:28 then he took Him into his arms, and blessed God, and said, Luke 2:29 "Now Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to depart in peace, According to Your word; Luke 2:30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation, Luke 2:31 Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples, Luke 2:32 A LIGHT OF REVELATION TO THE GENTILES, And the glory of Your people Israel." Luke 2:33 And His father and mother were amazed at the things which were being said about Him. 1 John 2:8 On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining. 1 John 2:9 The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now. 1 John 2:11 But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes. |

2 Cor 11:3 But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ 1 Peter 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness.” NASB |

1036 | Is it God speaking?? | James 1:5 | Val | 213328
Dear Lissamz: I know what you mean when you say people are always talking about God speaking to them and speaking to their hearts. The following comments may be true for some people not all. Be aware that this is a language that people learn in their circles. I have known people to hide behind the language. Its an image they want to project if you will. Its a way also of keeping people at arm's length. Instead of just forming boundaries they use this form of talk to feel good about themselves and their families and friends. It has nothing to do with God speaking to them because when you look closely they admit they do not read much less study the bible. Find a new circle of friends. Those whose daily practices is to study the word and are humble. Sincerely, Val |

1037 | Is it God speaking?? | James 1:5 | Val | 213358
Dear Lissamz, anyone can pick out a verse here and there and justify their stand. However, that is not really a reliable way to read scripture. Imagine if you received a letter and focused only on one sentence. Unless you read the entire letter you wouldn't have a clue what the author's message was. This is what you must do with every book of the bible. Start with prayer asking God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ with the help of His Holy Spirt to open the eyes of your understanding. Treat every book of the bible as if it were a letter. For instance, the book of Isaiah is a letter from God's prophet Isaiah. Learn all you can about Isaiah; who he was, what time period he was from, who he was sent to talk to, then learn all you can about his audience. Who were they? where were they? what was it like in their lives then? Was there war? Was it a time of abundance, etc. Now look at all the references to God. What was He speaking that time through Isaiah? Was He pleased? Was he upset about anything? Read the letter Isaiah wrote about thirty times. Stop and meditate on the topics he addresses. Write down any questions you have. Get a bible dictionary and look up any words you do not understand. Get a concordance and look at cross references where the same word is used. Finally look at what different commentators have said about Isaiah's letter. By this time you have spent a considerable period of time studying Isaiah's letter. You will have heard from God. This is bible study. This is hearing from God. Sincerely, Val |

1038 | Need Clarification on Asking/Receiving | James 1:6 | Val | 205253
Dear Pastor Tim, do you think the doubts means that he doubts he will get an answer or he doubts who God is since down further in the chapter it says "he is unstable in all his ways" and later refers to those who may confess Christ or give Him lip service but are not "doers of the word". Thanks, Val
1039 | AMm I UnTeachable? | James 1:19 | Val | 196166
There could be many reasons this was said to you. It may just be a personality conflict. It sounds like you might need to back off and just listen for a while, otherwise you might want to change classes or churches. James 1:19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; |

1040 | Is this The Right Tongues?!!!! | James 1:20 | Val | 197649
Something is wrong with this picture you present. Do not exercise this gift again until you have your anger under control would be my suggestion. James 1:19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; James 1:20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. |
