Dear Cheri, Thank you very much for your help. I had that in mind as well after doing a word search, but just wanted to find more. God bless and Shalom Azure P.S. I hope you would get the chance to listen to his "the Crucifixion" it is really really touching indeed. Everytime I could not hold my tears when I listen. I would say John Stainer has made it "Jesus' love song for us". |

Dear blue.eye Your note will not get to Sandra directly but just displayed on the main page of the forum. So, she will not be aware of your note unless she gets to SBF and goes through those posts on the main page. If you want to respond to any posts or questions, just click on the subject title (like what I have done here in answering your post with subject "concern"). Then the poster whom you are responding to will get a notification from the SBF by email automatically. By the way, I also see that your previous post to Sandra was sent to another user wrongly. Hope I have explained it clear enough for you to get familiar with the forum. Should you need any help further, please let us know. Shalom Azure |

Oh, my... I have not started counting verses. If I start now...base on the time you have spent, I probably cannot finish it within my earthly life. So, I decided to forget about the numberings but focus on the words and context and follow what has been said in Ps 90:10-17. Shalom Azure |

Dear blue.eyes, First of all, happy Ressurection Day! Scripture: Psalm 1:2 I think you have asked a good question. I believe other forum participants are happy to give their hands and supplement to what I have missed as well. I am not quite sure I understand your question correctly where you used the word "anxious". This word usually gives me a negative sense, but anyhow, I guess you mean "desire" or "concern". Several years ago, I was still lazy in studying His precious Words. However, the Holy Spirit worked (warning me with Prov 6:9-11 many many times) on me, drove me to be studious. As I remembered, the beginning of the stage was very difficult for me (you can imagine how an inactive sleepy soul is). There were times I got bored and fell asleep and wanted to give up. But His gracious hand grasped me not letting me go and help me to persevere. The more the Holy Spirit granted me better understanding the more I taste the sweetness of His Words, well, most of the time those are His "teaching staff" on me :-) However, both are so precious that draw me to "desire" and "delight in" His Words further. If you are a new believer, I would suggest you start with the 4 books of gospels. And then the rest of the New Testament. You may skip the Revelation for the time being as the book requires a well versed study of the prophetic books in the Old Testament for better understanding. Let me try to generate some points for you: 1/ Start and end your study each time with prayers, pray that the Holy Spirit gives us wisdom and understanding on God's Words. Pray that there is no disturbances. 2/ Pray whenever you are moved by the Holy Spirit during your study. 3/ Read in chapter or chapters so that you may get a fuller picture of the context. Context is very important. 4/ Re-read and meditate on what has been spoken to you in His Words. 5/ Use some helpful bible study tool. There are some on-line tools that are very helpful. Let me know if you want some recommendations. (In fact, those have been suggested by other forum participants already.) 6/ Cope yourself with His teachings. Though we might not always understand the scriptures, do what is understood. (John 8:31b, 14:21) 7/ Don't just focus on 1 or 2 verses and take scriptures out of its context. 8/ Don't justify yourself or situation by twisting the contextual meaning of scriptures. This was how the Pharisee always did to set up Jesus; and how Adams and Eve were tempted by Satan. I think I am too cumbersome and not answering you adequately. Let me suggest you this book "How to read the Bible for all Its Worth, by Fee and Stuart". May God bless you abundantly in your study. Shalom Azure |

Dear Lionheart, Thank you, dear Brother, for providing the scriptures. Yes, I understand what "anxious" means, but just have no clues to how it relates to blue.eye's question in concern with biblestudy. For me, studying bible is our spiritual need of food and nutrition (Mat 4:4), just like our physical body in need of food. And when we eat, it is that we enjoy and delight in the food, not eating with anxiety. My pleasure to share with you, brother :-) Shalom Azure |

Dear Cheri, Thanks for sharing, warrior! Will keep praying. Just had a short trip to China with my family for 2 days. The tour arranged us to watch a show at a place close to the hotel the 1st night. While I was enjoying some of the nice performance, there were a few acrobatic performances done by children around 8-12 (I guess). They performed remarkably well, but I was very much saddened to see the children exploiting their childhood for money instead of going to school due to poverty. Just a piece of news from China to you:-( Shalom Azure James 1:27 |

Dear pdhcars, Scriptures: 1 Cor 6:18 Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. 1 Cor 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 1 Cor 6:20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY. 1 Cor 7:8 But I say to the unmarried and to widows that it is good for them if they remain even as I. 1 Cor 7:9 But if they do not have self-control, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with passion. Shalom Azure |

119 | looking for the reference ... | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 201598 | ||
Dear qamargaret, Welcome to the forum. I am not aware of the relevant scriptures of that statement. However, what you have cited should be a part of the "Peace Prayer" by St Francis of Assisi - see below. This prayer had been made into an anthem sung within the Christian circles, too. Shalom Azure ***** Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love, Where there is injury let me sow pardon, Where there is doubt let me sow faith, Where there is despair let me give hope, Where there is darkness let me give light, Where there is sadness let me give joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not try to be comforted but to comfort, Not try to be understood but to understand, Not try to be loved but to love. Because it is in giving that we receive, It is in forgiving that we are forgiven, And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. - St Francis |
