101 | death, being with Jesus -verse? | 2 Corinthians | Scribe | 42075
Yet there is a big (MAJOR) difference between the girl healed, and Lazarus and anyothers that are raised from the dead in the Bible and that of the resurrection of our Body latter in the last day that raising of the damsel is more like a healing, she still dies later, as does Lazuras. Where did their spirits go? we do not know there is no mention of them testifying about a "white light" or of strolling through "flowers of gold" or of pleading with God not to have to go back. :) It seems they are quite happy and thankful to return. So it is more likely in those cases that they may have been unconscience. But we don't really know. We do know that when we die, we go to be with the Lord. |

102 | Where was satan when he first sinned? | 2 Cor 12:2 | Scribe | 41146
Great point Jensen, and an important one. It does apply to my topic but I will apply it later. Let me bring out now that I have not seen the verse that says satan sinned in heaven. We seem to assume that based on other verses such as that satan was cast down from heaven. But let me post this verse and see where it goes. Ezek 28:13 thru 15 13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone [was] thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. sardius: or, ruby beryl: or, chrysolite emerald: or, chrysoprase 14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. 16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Verse 13 says that Lucifer was in Eden. Verse 14 says he was in the mount of God (which seems to indicate that the mount of God was in Eden) Verse 15 says that Lucifer was perfect in Eden. Then iniquity was found in him. now maybe I am simple but it appears to me Lucifer was perfect in Eden then iniquity was found in him. |

103 | Should women be allowed to preach? | Galatians | Scribe | 50171
Women can preach. But this is not correct that Paul had a different opinion than Jesus. To say so is cult territory. Read my respons below on how Paul did not say a woman could not preach.
104 | Should women be allowed to preach? | Galatians | Scribe | 50520
Dear Grace and Truth, in what seems to be a passionate response, you seem to be saying that 1 Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. Says something other than what it says. I am suggesting that we do indeed declare that the Word is true and mans opinions and interpretations that go beyond the text are suspect. This verse means what it says. To go beyond what it says and say that women should not Preach or Teach the Gospel is wrong. To agree with the text and say that "women should not teach, nor to usurp authority over the man" is correct. Now whether a woman should be a Pastor is not mentioned here, though it is elsewhere. I will not take that up at this time. That women did not teach in the New Testament or Acts is a lie and not the Word of God. The Word of God tells a different story. Here are a few examples. Acts 18:26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. The text says THEY expounded unto Apollos the way of God more perfectly. Priscilla is included so I will agree with God's Word that a woman was used to teach a man along with her husband as a team. Let God be true but every prejudice of men all lies. Titus 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, Here the women are teaching, and we are convinced they are teaching the Word. Philippians 4:3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life. They did labour in the Gospel and you might say it was not in preaching or teaching but that would be an opinion not the Word. It is interesting how some will apply the term "labor in the Gospel" in all other passages to mostly that of preaching, but then in this one they feel like they should change it so that their prejudice and rebellious spirit toward listening to a woman teacher can find justification. Acts 21:9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy. Now we know that prophesy has to do with words that come out of the mouth. The women here are in a gathering that includes Paul and Luke, and other saints. A church gathering. They are speaking words out of their mouths, according to Paul in 1 Cor 14 they are doing this to edify the church. So ok if you insist on saying a woman cannot teach in the church, even though as I posted that is not the exact wording of 1 Tim 2:12 but an interpretation, then at least you will agree that women can prophesy. I love to hear women prophesy don't you? May God bless you in your study of His Word. |

Amen Shalom, very well said. I think the Holy Spirit is still saying the same thing he said through Moses, when he said.. I would that all God's people were prophets and that he would Put His Holy Spirit on all of them. God bless you.
106 | Should women be allowed to preach? | Galatians | Scribe | 63368
One comment I have on this response. Can you help me understand where people get the idea that Preaching the Word of God is ONLY done by "PASTORS,DEACONS,ELDERS"? I agree that a woman should not usurp authority over a man. I think the confusion comes when we think that one must hold the office of "PASTORS,DEACONS,ELDERS" to preach the Word. My post was not that a woman should be a "PASTORS,DEACONS,ELDERS" but that a woman can preach the Word. Also we know from Acts 15 a woman can prophesy. I appreciate your desire to not add to the word, therefore we must not add to the word to say that these women did anything wrong. Therefore if a woman can prophesy then we must decide what the definition of prophesy is. And if it is the gift of prophetic utterance as a spiritual gift in the church it is speaking in the church, if it is pulpit preaching as so many believe that do not hold to charismatic views, then we must conclude that women can preach in the pulpit. Either way whether it is pulpit preaching or if it is prophesy as a spiritual gift during the service neither one requires that the woman be a Pastor. God Bless you as you study the word with all honesty and humility before the God. |

107 | Predestination | Eph 1:4 | Scribe | 41705
There has probably been more posted in chat rooms and theological forums on this subject than almost any other. First I suggest you read through the Bible and mark any passage of verse that would shed light on the concept of being predestined to either wrath or salvation. When you collect all the verses and not Just Rom 9 (which was quoting many OT passages so you really should study the OT passaged along with Rom 9) then you form your opinion based on all of these verse. Both sides, will passionately argue their side of the debate. One reason this is such a popular topic? Theological Universities. One of the main problems with Theological Universities is that they are often guilty of spending enormous amounts of time, effort, and energy teaching students about the Great debates in church history, (Calvin, Luther, Arminan (not sure about that spelling) and so the student comes out of the school one one side of the debate or the other and having formulated his reasons. Then he goes about trying to convert christians that are already living for the Lord in faith. If on the other had the student forgets about the Great debates he has been studying and arguing all semester and just reads his Bible with the view of knowing God he will find he has a passion for the Lost and he will find himself preaching to the lost about the love of Christ and he will notice that the Spirit of God and the pure Gospel message at least "assumes" the listner is destined to be one of the elect. Or in other words the student will release it is not his job to determine who is the elect and who isn't so he will go about preaching as though all can be. Thus even the one of the view that man has no free will as it relates to salvation will preach like the lost people he is talking to do have free will, so then.. what difference does it make. If you preach the gospel to the lost as though all can be saved, and the person on the free will side of the isle preaches that way too, then forget about the debate and win the lost! Then there is the issue of the student that does not preach the gospel but instead spends all his time debating with the saved. This person has a messed up heart that needs fixing by God whether he thinks he is predestined or no. Another thing is to use the Desert Island and Faith approach to Bible Study. That is.. read the bible as though you really believe God is in you and that you are born again (this is of course to the christian) and read the bible as if you were on a desert Island with just the Holy Spirit to guide you and read it throughly. If you come away without any human influence in a view of "some are going to be saved whether they like it or not" (exageration mine :) or if you come away with a view that God created some people (or most people) to populate eternal flames and they can do nothing to avoid their destiny. Then you have to live with that view. However I trust you will see it differently. |

Understand that in 20 years of soul winning I have never seen a person that was born again from a non-church background that believed that some were going to be saved and some were not and the ones that were have no choice in the matter as it relates to having faith when God is calling, or the ones that are lost have no hope of having faith. The only time I have met those with this sort of understanding of the elect are when they have read Calvin or some other writer that after many many convincing words they are indoctrinated to that view. When people take the desert Island approach and forget everything they have been told, they will usually see it like this... God mad man to be saved and live with Him forever. Man fell. God could have wiped it all way but he started over again with Noah. We know some will not repent and they go to hell God does not want anyone to go to hell but wants all to be saved. But since some will not, God does not wipe them out instantly but uses them for His glory, Pharoah is an example. God was greatly glorified in the method in which He delivered Israel, and when He was done he drowned Pharoah in the sea. Pharoah was still to blame, Pharoah hardened his heart and so God hardened Pharoah's heart in judgement. God is not willing that any perish but that all come to eternal life through faith in His Son God predestined Jesus to die for man so that man might be save. All those that believe that enter into the company of the elect. Those that scoff at it and pass it off as a light thing are destined to destruction. Can they get out of their destiny? Yes we were all children of wrath, but we were translated out of darkness into light. Consider babies. Do you thing babies that die go to heaven? Please say "of course" If a person of this no free will camp believes what they say they will tell you that some babies go to hell and some to heaven. Now if you think God sends babies to hell you do not know God. end of story. God is Love and Justice, and Mercy and Righteousness and Holiness and Infinitely Good, and no babies go to hell. Now if babies are all part of the elect and we were all babies, and at some time during our growing up we become children of wrath because of what we do then it must be that 1) you can be the elect then not be then be again or 2) being the elect applies to all those that put their faith in the one Predestined from the foundation of the earth to supply salvation for mankind and now all those who will may come. Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. :) Makes you think God put that in the last chapter of the Bible Because he knew there would be those of this false doctrine trying to use predestination and no free will to confuse saints in the last days. |

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. Now we know that the Bible does not contradict itself. 1 Cor 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. So we know that God has placed teachers who have a gift to take the word of God and teach it even as I am doing right now this very moment. But nevertheless the above verse..."But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you:" is still true. So what does it mean? If I have faith and walk by faith in the Spirit I can hear God and know what a verse of scripture really means and how I am to live it. If a man is speaking the same thing by the Spirit that dwells within him I will bear witness with it and we will agree spiritually. This is the heritage of all saints. Now some will not have faith for this. They want a man that has a theological degree to tell them what verses mean. But I find that idolatrous. If you love and trust God and read the Bible you can understand it. Is there value in Theological Universities? Maybe if they teach the Bible and the truths or themes that run throughout the Bible then they are very valuable. Do you have to attend one to know the truths in the Bible? Of course not. I believe in educaton not only in theology but in all the sciences and many of the arts. God ordained learning and we should apply ourselves diligently to pursue knowledge. However when it comes to walking in the light of God's eternal truths (not mathematics) Universities often to more to hinder a young man's spiritual growth than helping it. Why? becuase they often cast doubt on the Divine inspiration of the Word and many other such hienous sins. And they have a fine way of constructing nice sounding explanations about how this or that writer wrote this for this and that reason, and to hear them explain it the book is full of mistakes. Yes I know there are some very good Theological universites out there that reverance God's word as God's word, but they are rare. Seems I heard a story about Billy Graham having to leave a school that was trying to teach such doubtful nonsense. |

We know that Paul was educated for his day and we know that education is valuable. As a matter of fact I am convinced that the more a person reads such things as the classics in literature and grows in other knowledge such as logic, math, etc, they are going to find the reading of the Bible yield more understanding because they are going to use logic and expect the Bible to read in context and other such common sense techniques such as searching where else the subject is discussed in the Bible. Yes I know the theolgical words for these concepts but why use them when only those that are Theological students would understand them. And if you have to define the word to your audience everytime you use it, what is the point of creating a word to encapsulate a bigger thought when you are constantly explaining both the bigger thought and the word. ;) I am not saying a saint is sinning in going to a Theological University, but have you noticed that we have no biblical example of it in the New testament? I do not belive a minister should be ignorant of the Word or theology, but have you noticed that men like Timothy and others in the scripture seemed to be passionate students of the scriptures, full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and taught by others in the church that were knowledgeable in the word but the emphasis is always on the student praying, having faith, studying the scriptures with faith in the anointing within him. The Holy Spirit. The reason the church as a whole in America is weak in preaching in the pulpit is that the ministers do not pray and study the Bible as they should after graduation. I would dare say most ministers across denominational lines hold degrees and can argue their side of Calvin or Armenian and yet their preaching is aneamic. They tell us jokes to warm up the crowd and deliver sermons with three points and a conclusion that rhymes and most of the time they have spent more time delivering the 30 minute sermon than they did praying for it. They go on like this year after year and have no clue the reason their congregations are drying up is that the flock is hungry for a fresh WORD from God, a challenge from the word of a "prophet" to call them to dedication to God. They are hungry for truths expounded upon in the Bible that will bring them more into the image of Christ and they are not afraid to be rebuked, they want it, they ask for it. Church History has value, and so does reading Calvin (howbeit I cannot imagine getting through all his volumes in my lifetime :) ) However the heart of the saint must be that they have total faith in the Anointing and that God can and will lead them into all truth. I know that a man is going to be affected by other teachings he has heard, but you can still make a conscience effort when you approach scripture to say "God I want to see things clearly, if I am having a wrong understanding becuase I have heard things said a certain way and it is not in the bible let me see that and agree with your word instead." Can it be that a person reading the Bible today with that heart might see something that is not taught in Bible School? Absolutely. Do not think that all mysteries have been made plain. The word has many truths to yield to you if you have faith. Not contradictions to other parts of the Bible but confirmations and more light. And the flock is hungry for this. About the last thing the flock wants or needs is to hear Calvinism. :)

Joe, Thank you for your comments and interest in the topic. In answer to your question "Please explain this anointing...what exactly is it, and where is the Scriptural support for your view of what it is? " I posted this verse and refer to that which the verse states. 1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. This is a foundational promise for all believers and gives us great confidence in growing in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Even as we listen to teachers. I appreciate your concerns in clarifying that all reformed preaching is not as I have discribed and of course I agree. There are men of God in probably every type of denomination that are greater in faith and maturity than I. And as God has given each of us light we must walk in it by faith and with our whole heart. God bless you all! |

112 | Predestination | Eph 1:4 | Scribe | 41862
All good points Joe. And yet to be unwilling to heed the Word of God in Context (not some half verse used to propagate a false teaching) because your sect (whatever it might be titles in Christendom) says they don't believe that way is simply loving your sect over God. If your group establishes their doctrine on all the scripture and you have a heart after God you will indeed agree with your group (church affiliation) If your group uses certain verses and yet does not use all of them and so teaches a certain thing that is in error, it does not matter if they have been teaching it for 500 years. The length of time does not give authenticity to their doctrine. If it were then the Roman Catholic Church would have the greatest argument for authenticity, (as they think they do). Consider what I am saying and the Lord give you understanding in all things... When we study church history often we are reading the history of that which was not the church at all. We call it the church because it is the "visible" church observed by the political affairs of men, but it is no more the church we are reading about than reading the annals of the Pharisees would have been reading about the true God fearing and righteous Jew of New Testament times. We must take that into consideration glean what we can but always let the Spirit of God within us lead us into all truth. There were those of the true church behind the scenes in the middles ages (of which we have some history but not much,) that never wrote a book or annals for us to discuss. These are those that never had to come out of Roman Catholicism because they had enough of the Spirit of God in them to never join it in the first place. These are those that were not involved in the great debates because they had better more profitable things to do than to argue and strive with the saints, these are they that walk in peace and go where so ever the Spirit leads them and these are they that we will meet and hear about in heaven whose legacy is greater than that of Luther and yet they have no history books. 113 | Predestination | Eph 1:4 | Scribe | 41863
(continued from previous post) And let me explain "New Light" of course it is not New, but it is most certainly waiting to be "re-discovered" I propose only one example of many but an example that reveals how far we may still need revival if you consider it deeply. Take baptism. We have so many varied methods and means of baptism. We may be assured that our method is the right one based on the scriptures. And yet know one seems to follow the scriptural pattern at all. The scripture shows men being baptized at the time of believing in Christ. So that you get the impression and most scholars agree they did indeed go to the river and baptize the same day if not the same week after believing in Christ. Today even in our protestant congregations we save it until a convenient time when family and friends, and photographers can be present. What is this and from whence did it come? It came from reviving what was lost in the Dark Ages by the oppressive rule of the RCC, but you see how it has never really been fully restored. So it is with our methods of taking the Lord's Supper. Even those that are trying to be the most like the New Testament book of acts they know who still use the little trays of crackers and cups and pass it around in the church like an RCC ceremony. This is not how it was done in Acts and yet we keep doing it this traditional way? What difference does it make if your heart is focused on the meaning of the Lord's Supper? Maybe none. But it is an example of how we still have room to be "reformed" back to the pattern of the book of Acts and teachings of Christ. I could use many other examples such as doctrinal truths that we propagate because we were told by other teachers and books that such a thing is so and yet when we look for it in scripture it is not there. For instance, I know this one is not believed by even half of Protestants but Those that believe in a pre-tribulation rapture of the church all say we disappear in a moment or a twinkling of an eye. (I lean toward pre-trib but am not dogmatic about it) and yet the text says nothing about disappearing. It says we are CHANGED and rise. Not a hint about turning invisible. But it has been said so often and by so many "respected" prophesy teachers that no one questions it. Is it wrong to take a stand and say something "New" such as we do not disappear. Yes we change, and yes we rise, but there are scriptures that hint at the world seeing it, and none that say we vanish. If it is easy to see how this type of "new" understanding is possible (especially about such things as eschatology, of which Luther and others did not deal with exhaustively) then you should be able to see how we do indeed have room to grow in revelation not that opposes solid foundational doctrine but builds on it and brings us further into the light, as we press toward the mark of the High Calling of God in Christ Jesus. If I pastor and every time someone comes to the faith of Christ and is Born Again my church has a Baptism at the end of a service would I be different than the last 1700 years of church history? Probably. Would I be unorthodox? Was is John Locke that said " every man is orthodox unto himself and his own church?" If you measure orthodoxy by the book of Acts, I dare say I would be the most orthodox church I know. If I have the congregation meet and eat a supper in the spirit of fellowship and communion in the Holy Ghost and at the time of the supper we partake of the Lords Supper observance I would be much more in line with the book of Acts than the trays and pixie cups. Do I really think that is a big deal? I think it is a good example that though we may have come a long way since the Reformation, there may be still things we are blind to as it relates to our understanding in the scripture becuase we walk in the tradition of our fathers (church teachers) rather than the clear text of scripture. God Bless you All. |

Thank you Joe for balancing my statements. Not all Seminaries are apostate concerning the faith. And of course teachers are from God, teachers anointed by the Holy Spirit (and that does go beyond mere accumulation of bible facts) who are called and equipped by God not only in knowledge of the Word but also in spiritual gifts of teaching that has that element of imparting the word (in the understanding of the listener whose heart is open) as an operation of God and not simply natural oratory, is to be sought out by those that would grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are not an island and we will not have the full revelation of Christ alone on an island, becuase God has ordained that we recieve the fulness of God in the church and partake of that which each member contributes in his/her God given gifts. So that I cannot say I do not need the hand or the eye or the foot. And yet each saint can have faith and know that God will keep him in the truth if he keeps a repentant and faith filled heart. The Holy Spirit will indeed be faithful to give you checks, alrams, and warnings when even your "Lettered" Pastor is speaking things that are not God's word on the subject. God Bless you ALL. |

I could venture a guess as to how a group should do such a thing, based on the Spirit of God within me and in combination with my knowledge of the Word of God, I am going to guess that if that 900 member church were to meet in homes of smaller groups based on location and there partake of the Lord's Supper and fellowship around a meal and at that time encourage prayer, sharing and some public reading of scripture and the exercise of spiritual gifts as the Spirit willed there would be a great edification and spiritual renewal in their midst. That is one idea, and one that I would have faith for as I see the Word in context. (In addition to meeting together at the larger facility not in place of that.) |

Job 28:5-6 As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under it is turned up as it were fire. The stones of it are the place of sapphires: and it hath dust of gold. Job is an awesome book. Job is considered by many to be the oldest of the OT. I am not so sure about that, but it is at least one of the oldest. Job seems to be full of these interesting hints of scientific knowledge, that proove that the bible has had hints of science insight thousands of years before men found out through careful observation the same things. Long before men figured it out Job tells us that there is fire in the center of the earth. |

118 | Is baptism done only once? | Eph 4:5 | Scribe | 42359
The Ethiopian Eunuech was baptized in water after believing on Christ by the preaching of Phillip. Ac 8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. This was after pentecost. And Cornelius... Ac 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Ac 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Ac 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. This too was after the day of Pentecost. Baptism in water is to be done by all those that come to Christ. There is nothing fleshly about outward observance of water baptism. A good understanding in just how spiritual an exercise it is, can be obtained when you understand the necessity for us to make ourselves accountable. When we openly confess our Alegiance to Christ we win half, nay three forths of the battle, of the fight of drawing back the next day or the next week. This is a lesson learned that we would do well to remember through out our christian journey. When you find yourself struggling with any sin, make yourself accountable to others, confessing that you will have nothing more to do with that sin and are pledgeing your allegiance to Christ and Him alone. God Bless you all in your Study of God's Word. |

119 | Is baptism done only once? | Eph 4:5 | Scribe | 42412
Ac 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Ac 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Acts 10:44-48 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. You have Peter saying That the Baptism of the Holy Spirit of all those believers gathered in Cornelius house was a fulfillment of what Jesus told them, and even with that knowledge Peter has them baptized in water also which serves a purpose (though you do not see the purpose). Then you do not have any apostle ever saying that one know longer needs to be baptized in water but you are willing to make that leap in you doctrine. This is adding to the scripture. Acts 19:2-7 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. And all the men were about twelve. So here we have Paul making a difference between being Baptized under John's ministry (who was not baptizing them in the Name of Jesus but did not even know the name of Jesus until after Jesus came to be baptized of John. So afterwards the disciples of Christ baptized in Jesus name and that baptism is a fuller revelation of what God was doing in reconciling man to God through Christ of which John only had hints or but not the full understanding. These 12 men had been baptized in Johns baptism, and yet they still needed a revelation of Christ. Paul undoubtedly preaches Christ to them and has them Baptized in the name of Jesus, though I do not think Paul did the baptizing but rather he had helpers. After these 12 were baptized then Paul laid hands on them to recieve the Holy Ghost and they spoke in tongues and prophecied. God is still doing this today. New Believers are saved by believing, and if they will go all the way with God they will publically pledge allegiance to Christ (which in that day they were truly taking a stand to be willing to die if need be) Today baptism in water and publically pledging allegiance to Christ is acceptable, in that day it was like stepping over the line and saying you are now ready to die for your faith. This sort of commitment is the purpose behind baptism in water. It is the initiation rite into this elite organization of zealots for God. You are either with Christ or you are against Him The Baptism in the Holy Ghost is also available to all believers that will ask and expect it. God Bless you All in the Study of His Word! |

Not to attack you personally but this is one of the most bizzare and illogical approaches to scripture I have ever read. To claim that Phillip was mistaken , even though the Spirit confirmed his Word and ministry with catching him away to another place is going a little far to proove your point isn't it. Maybe, you are wrong. I think you need to think about this one a little harder. You will notice too many efforts to twist the word to fit.
