Dear beleivers with me in Christ Jesus, Thank you for all of the input on the subject of baptism. From all of the postings I've reached the understanding, and correct me if I am wrong, that the only way to obtain salvation in by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is necessary for those who beleive in Christ and learn, being taught from the Word of God, that baptism is an act of washing away of sins and that it is done in the name of Jesus. In my search on this subject I found this passage. I thought it was interesting that it was necessary for these to be "re-baptized" in the name of Jesus. What does this mean? If it seems that I'm dragging this subject on, I apoligize, but I would appreciate any comments from the forum. Acts 19:1 It happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples. Acts 19:2 He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they said to him, "No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." Acts 19:3 And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" And they said, "Into John's baptism." Acts 19:4 Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus." Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Acts 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. Jesus is alive, the same yesterday, today, and forever! RAVEN, According to your comments belief alone will not save us, baptism is required, and, I will assume that baptism without beleif will not save us either. Not to get into "trifles" but, Does "deathbed" salvation not exist? Again, not a challenge, I am just eager to learn. Rev 21:6 Then He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. Rev 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. In Him, Cyclist |

Dear Tim Moran, Does the following passage relate to our discussion? Is baptism showing our faith by works? James 2:18 But someone may well say, "You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works." 2 James 2:20 But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? 3 James 2:26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. Always in Christ, Cyclist |

Dear brother in Christ, Tim Moran, Thank you for taking time and giving attention to this subjest of baptism. I was baptized after being saved (having the born again experience). Those whom the Lord used to lead me to him stressed to me the importance of repentance, excepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and transformation by the renewing of my mind. It wasn't until about 1 year after salvation that I was baptized. I attended a small church at that time and was baptized in a lake. It was a wonderful experience! Even though we may view this as a work, I enjoyed it as an unexplainable experience. I was filled with the joy of the Lord! I think that I had a wonderful baptismal experience and would recomend to every one that they view baptism as bonding with Christ. A "work" that is rewarding! This is my final post on this subject. Thanks to all of you who helped me to learn more about baptism; RAVEN, John Reformed, Hank, tuli, Emmaus, wordoer, Reformer Joe, Eagleone, and childoftheking. You have helped me grow! God Bless each one of you! Your brother always in Christ Jesus, Cyclist |

7 | Is our dress a reflection of our heart? | Bible general Archive 1 | Cyclist | 39098
CDBJ and Mommapbs, To the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever! Mommapbs, There was a tug in my heart when I read your post about your son. Is all well? I would be very happy to pray with you at any time about any thing. My e-mail address is in my profile. I read your posts about the way we dress and is it a reflection of our heart. Memory fails me with regard to scripture at this time but I would like to comment on this and maybe the scripture I've attached would be helpful. (KJV) Col 3:23, 24 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. I believe with you that we need to search our hearts when we dress. If we are doing everything as unto the Lord then I shall dress acceptable before the Lord each day! Not to please man or women. This does not me that I will wear worn clothing to my office, I am a manger. I wear that which is acceptable to my business. Just to share a story about dressing in the house of God: There was a woman, about 30 years of age, that attend our Sunday school class. She would wear tight dresses and one time she wore a dress with very thin shoulder straps with a very thin or no bra. The reason I and others knew that this is because she was cold, get the idea. Well, men are men, and men are weak sometimes in this area, and men were looking. It was an uncomfortable situation. I'm not judging her, I'm just sharing this to point out that if dress as men/women pleasers we distract ourselves and others from the Lord's service. Always your brother in Christ Jesus whom I love with my whole heart! Cyclist |

8 | Essence of lesson of Job? | Bible general Archive 1 | Cyclist | 40618
Hello dskander! All praise and glory and honor be to God our Father! and, to His Son Jesus Christ who died for our sins! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! you write: also to have confidence in your self to speak with him, argue with him as your friend. Could you please clarify your answer. How does your answer relate to the scriptures below? It appears that you are stating that it is nessecary to have confidence in the flesh. Phil 3:3 for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh, Rom 9:19 You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?" Rom 9:20 On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, "Why did you make me like this," will it? Your brother in Christ, Cyclist |

15 | Is speaking in tongues for today? | Bible general Archive 1 | Cyclist | 47034
Brother John Reformed, I shall praise my God when I arise in the morning! I will still be praising my God when lay down to sleep! I will praise my God from my heart where Jesus dwelleth! Blessing and praise and glory and honor be to God our Father! and to His most Wonderful and Holy Son Jesus Christ! Praise Him! Praise Him! Haven't exchanged posts with you in a while brother. How is the new Grandbaby?!?! I to was involved with penticostal churchs for about 12 years. I witnessed profecying (spelling?) in tounges with interpretations. Both profecying and interpretation came through me as well. I still do speak in tounges sometimes but it is always when I am alone with my God. You raised an interesting question. My spiritual mother, the woman who lead me to Jesus, spoke in tounges in the factory where I worked, whenever and wherever! Needless to say she was feared by most others, and, very much respected by all! Everyone knew that if they had a conversation with her, they where going to hear about Jesus Christ! I love her so much! You did raise a very interesting question: "If tongues are meant as a witness to unbelievers why is'nt it occuring today?" I am anxcious to see some responses to this. Always, your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Emmaus, I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever! I will sing hymns and songs of praise to my God in my heart the day long! Please forgive me for intruding in this discussion (debate). I'm sure that you've noticed from my previous postings that I am not very well educated. In fact, as I have posted previously to the Searcher, you will find the description of me in the following verse: 1 Cor 1:26 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; In a previous descussion on the subject of water baptism you made some points that I thought were excellent, I had posted a question about the criminal on the cross who was not baptised in water yet Jesus said that he would be in paradise with Him. We may never have closeur(sp?) on this subject in the forum but it is always interesting when it comes up now and then. I still wonder though about the necessity of water baptism for salvation. One other example is: Matt 9:2 And they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, "Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven." 5 Matt 9:6 "But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--then He *said to the paralytic, "Get up, pick up your bed and go home." This man's sins were forgiven without water baptism. By the way, I believe that we ought to be baptised in water. I myself was baptised in a small lake. It was a wonderful experience! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |
