1 | Ecumenical Movement Avoid or Not? | Bible general | EdB | 239731 | ||
Yes we must guard against deception but I am always reminded of Jesus' prayer John 17:21 (NASB) 21 that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. It seems we spend more time making sure our doctrine is not offended, not ignored and less time about being one in the body of Christ. Does this mean we compromise our doctrine? I don't think so but it also does not relieve us from trying to find solution for our division. Was it God's intent to reform the church? Yes I think it was. But no one ever claimed it was God's guidance to divide the church. That was man's solution when man determined God was able to correct the very thing scripture tells us Christ is the head of. |

To Ed B, John 17:21, seems to be quoted very often, " that all of them may be one." However; the verse before that states, that Jesus prays that all will heed to the message that the apostles taught in order for all to be one. Very little attention is given to that part of John 17:21.-----Luke 12:51, Jesus speaks," Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No! I tell you but division. v52 From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. v53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter. etc." etc ------Unity by saying, "Let's all get along", sounds good but it could be a trap of deception. That's why in these End Times we are warned by Jesus not to be deceived. After I viewed that video of the Pope, Copland and Tony Palmer I'm convinced that the Reformation is not over with. Ed O. |
