Bible Question:
I recently watched a video on line of some type of a conference, where Bishop Tony Palmer spoke saying the Reformation is over with. Pope Francis also spoke to the crowd via video reiterating the same. Is this ecumenical movement something to avoid or not? Ed O. |
Bible Answer: I don't know what the Pope or this Bishop was saying When they say the Reformation is over. I would assume they meant the reformation that was started in the Catholic church during the Reformation is over. In any case there is still the divide between Protestantism and Catholicism. But even that divide is changing as we see many crossing from Protestant to Catholic and Catholic to Protestant. There still remains definite differences in doctrine that some on both sides of the issue zero in on like drawing a line in the sand refuse to consider the other side of the issue. Jesus' prayer for the church was for the body of Christ to be in unity. So I believe God favors any attempt to reconcile the differences that now separate. |
