Mark, I don't have any answers for you. I am in a similar situation, but on the other side. My husband and I (actually my ex-husband) have been through something similar, but he did'nt commit adultery, he was addicted to crack cocaine. We were married 8 years, he would leave for days at a time...usually on Fridays when he got paid, and wouldn't come home until all the money was gone. Anyway, to make a long story short, this went on for years. I can understand the issues your wife has as far as the fear and trust. My husband is now saved, but is in prison. I really believe that God wants to restore our marriage. He does too. But, honestly, I am afraid, I don't want to be hurt again. I know I have to step back and let the Lord have His way in this situation. All I can do is hold on to the Lord. I'm sorry I don't have an answer for your situation. All I can say is, trust God. I will keep you both in my prayers. Beth |

Friends - Slow down and take a deep breath. What did Jesus say about divorce with regard to adultery? He said "it was only given to you by Moses because of the hardness of your heart." To each of you I would encourage with this statement by Jesus - 'with men this impossible, but with God nothing is impossible." My take on all this (and it is first hand, real life) is that it takes one to believe God at His word. It is quite easy to land on the truth of the word in each of these situations. God hates divorce - that's in Malachi, and other places. If God hates divorce, then in my pea brain it means he will do whatever is necessary with a willing, faithful, obedient, prayerful, consecrated heart to turn around the darkest of situations. Will he violate a free will? No. But, the same God who parted the Red Sea can deal with a wife who is afraid, or a husband who has been in bondage. Remember, the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy -marriages, lives, cities, nations, you, and me - BUT, Jesus came that we may have life , and that more abundantly. And, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. I would urge each of you to pray that verse over yourselves and over your spouses. God Bless You Both as you stand on His word! |
