If I take your thinking a step further, when James says to show your faith without works is not true faith. The reverse is also ture. The first thing required it someone to point the person to Christ. The rest is between the Holy Spirit and the person. We are all saved by Gods Grace plus nothing else. Martin Lither made this the center post of his theology. We have been saved by Grace alone. Grace is freely given, but never without a cost. Any thoughts? Blessings. Justme |

Hi Justme, 1. This thinking is not mine but James'. 2. Luther may have gotten it right but, over the years, this idea of "salvation by faith alone" went too far (or maybe Luther went too far to the other extreme). I cannot say actually what is what as far as this is concerned. All I can say is that, for the most part, what I see as Biblical faith is not being expounded correctly by theologians and pastors of today. I heartily agree, "Grace is freely given, but never without a cost." |

Atdcross: I am concerned when ever I read critiques that criticizes the "theologians and pastors of today." This statement is to general, and leaves one thinking that the majority of Pastors and Theologians are expounding unbiblical teaching and or preaching. I personally have worked agonizing over the Scripture, to make sure what I have preached is the very Word of God. From my expereince as having been the Pastor of four churches, is as I saw it, "Biblical faith" was being expounded correctly. All to often the Pastor or Seminary Professor and even the Seminary itself, are held responsible for not correctly expounding the Bible as it should be. Why are some so quick to blame, without either confronting the Pastor or Professor in a respectful kind loving way? There is in my opinion a growing number of churched people who are educated only in the most basic Biblical Doctrines. To the shame of so many baby Christians, when they hear Theology that amounts to solid food, they choke and vomit on their Pastor or Theologians. Scripture warns that not many should become teachers. Perhaps this warning not only is to prevent wrong teaching. This warning is also to divert those who are not equiped emotionally to deal with and fend off such attacks. I am not in agreement that "this idea of salvation by faith alone" has to far. Luther, thank God, did take the "other extreme." I am sure, after reading your profile, that you have read a wide scope of excellent Christian authors. I applaud you endurance in the Christian Faith. So I am not assuming you are intollerant, just made a conclusion that I think was to wide, I hope. I am praying that you will find a church home soon. Blessings Brother. Justme |

Thank you, pastor, for your exposing the truth of the Word to the people of God in a manner that honored the character of our Father. | ||||||
