Much goes on in the spiritual realm which we cannot see. And, perhaps it is a good thing we can't see it, as a rule! Demons are real and their job is to make our lives miserable. They do not tell the future. How absurd. They do, however, know what goes on it your life and can hear your conversations and even, I think, read your mind. If Satan knew the future, he would never have allowed Jesus to die on the cross. I didn't say Satan couldn't hear us praying in tongues. I said he couldn't understand what we were saying, because it is just between God and the spirit of the person praying. Some people are more spiritual than others. Some people can see into the spiritual realm and others cannot. It is up to God what He reveals to us. Yours in Christ, Janae |

Janae I'm Pentecostal and I know in the Pentecostal circle it is often taught that praying in tongues insures Satan can't know what we are praying. However no where in scripture is this idea supported or even suggestted. It appears to be man's idea of what is taking place. It may be accurate but it also may be nothing more that man's imagination. I agree that people are more spiritual than others but again there is absolutely no proof that anyone can see into the spiritual realm. That said let me also say God can and does reveal things to people however in every example we have of this in scripture shows it to be a limited and very rare experience. While many people claim this ability but in fact they are taking the evidence that is visible and putting two and two together and coming up with four. I agree demons are real but they are not omnipresent meaning they can't be everywhere. Yet we are frequently tempted. Paul said it was a battle of the flesh. Notice in the New Testament most discussions of sin don't mention Satan or demons but rather flesh and our need to control or crucify our flesh. Further we are children of God, saved by the blood. Satan can try to handicapp us, to impede us, but scripture says he can't remove us from the hand of Jesus. However we can allow our flesh to lead us into the temptation Satan has placed before us. That is why James tells us to submit to God and resist Satan. Many quote the resist part and ignore the submit part. James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. I hope this helps in some way EdB |

I am always amazed at how people on this board like to put words into other peoples mouths. I did not say that demons were everywhere, or omnipresent. There are millions of demons and there are probably certain ones assigned to each believer. We have three enemies in this world: The flesh, Satan and ourselves. You are right in what you say in your last paragraph. Yes, if you risist the devil, i.e. do not submit to temptation, the devil will flee from you. But his job (and he does it very well) is to create havoc in our lives, and that is what he loves doing. He will never stop, not as long as we are breathing. You get through one test and trial, and there is another one right on its heals. If you are not being tempted by Satan, you might be running with him! Janae. |

Janae I did not mean to put words in your mouth and if you felt I did I'm extremely sorry. I was saying that Satan and his demons are not omnipresent and are limited in number. We have no idea what the number may be but one thinks it is probably less than the number of people in this world. Yet most everyone has a problem of one kind or another in their life most of the time. If we look at those problems we see most are not supernaturally occurring but rather can be traced back to bad decisions, past sins, the fallen nature of this world and etc. Yet many Christians attribute all problems to Satan and that is simply not the case. Flesh, the fallen nature of this world and our refusal to seek God in all things lead to many of the problems we experience today. You said if your not being tempted by Satan you must be running with him. Those sounds like a logical statement but let us look at it scripturally. Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, Jesus resisted and Satan left him. Does that mean Jesus was running with Satan? No it meant Satan was looking for another time. Was Jesus tempted in time period? Yes but by what? It appears it was flesh that tempted Him since scripture says he was tempted in all manner of man. Did he get hungry or cold yes was it Satan or was it the fallen nature of this world? Yes I’m tempted, but most if not all my temptation is my flesh 1 John 2:16-17 (NKJV) 16 For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. Again I apologize for what you perceive as putting words in your mouth that was not my intent. I mentioned Satan’s lack of omnipresence only as an illustration not as something you had said. EdB |

Again, you have misquoted me. What I said was, "If you are not being tempted by Satan, you MIGHT BE running with him!" When Jesus resisted Satan, he was not running with him. Again, you have made an absurd statement, and you are trying to make it appear that I am saying foolish things. Satan sometimes uses our bad decisions, past sins, etc. to attack us. God has put our sins as far as the East is from the West, yet some people get attacked by Satan with thinking about past sins, and this can steral their joy. Satan is the destroyer. I, of course, accept your apology. But, you have done it again in this post. Not exactly in the same way, but you have misquoted me. Janae. |

Janae Your right I did misquote you and I must apologize. I said 'must' you said 'might'. There is a big difference. However there was no intent to misquote or to put words in your mouth in any way. I simply stated it that way for emphasis. I'm sorry it was my mistake. Please beleive me when I say I did not use this example to be absurd or to make you look bad in any way. I just wanted to emphasize the fact that we are exposed to temptations that Satan had nothing to do with other than his part in orginal sin. EdB |
