1 | Question for Glory Bound | Bible general Archive 2 | Hank | 134414
Glory Bound - In your user profile you state, "I would challenge all to test me." When I attempted to challenge you regarding the inspiration of Bible translations, you ducked the question with the excuse that you did not like the "tone" of my sincere and unadorned questions. Please, let's stop this petty bickering and get down to answering the question. ..... I quote verbatim from your User Profile, caps and all: "But if you do not use the KJ or NIV, which without a doubt ARE INSPIRED TRANSLATIONS, I would strongly suggest that first and foremost you pray and ask that the Holy Spirit lead you to the TRUTH of the WORD." GB, my concern centers around the accuracy of this statement, and thus all I'm asking of you is to provide this Forum with authoritative, unimpeachable and verifiable proof that these two versions of Scripture, the KJV and the NIV, are inspired translations. Please, will you do it? ... Please. --Hank

I have already answered this question. As to those who CAN NOT, or WILL NOT understand and adhere to THE WORD; It is understandable that they will not understand my words. Once again Hank. This discussion is closed between you and me. I beg you not to carry it on. GB |

3 | Question for Glory Bound | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 134423
GB - Are translations Scripture? DO THEY meet the qualification of being "inspired or God breathed" - meaning "that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." 2 Peter 1:20-21. Imo, "All Scripture is inspired" is not the same as all translations are inspired. What assurance do we have that these translators were also "moved by the Holy Spirit"? I've read through this thread, and it seems to me that since you appear to be unwilling to back up your claim (and BTW, it is YOUR claim) might I suggest that you simply change your user profile? Blessings, mommapbs |

GB - This is what you have stated: "if you do not use the KJ or NIV, which without a doubt ARE INSPIRED TRANSLATIONS, I would strongly suggest that first and foremost, you pray and ask that the Holy Spirit lead you to the TRUTH of the WORD." "If you do not agree with what I state, challenge me to prove it scripturally." Glory Bound, all Hank and others have done is to take you at your word. We disagree with the above statement and are asking you to "prove it scripturally." No one disagrees with the AUTHORITY or TRUTH of God's Word, we just don't agree that translations (ANY of them!) are "inspired." As Hank noted, only the original autographs meet this qualification.(ref 2 Peter 1:20-21) I'm sorry that you feel that you have been attacked personally. However, imo, it is not the Forum that has generated this within you. We have but one "accuser". God wants us to be honest about ourselves. (Ps 51:6) When a brother challenges you and you respond defensively, it makes me wonder what else you are unwilling to be honest about. Faithful are the wounds of a friend. Prov 27:6. 6 | Question for Glory Bound | Bible general Archive 2 | Glory Bound | 134509
So Ed, I expect you and the rest of those who refuse to see and understand what it is I have been stating, would recommend that we simply discard our bibles. For those who cannot reconise what I have been stating, I will put it as plain as it can be put. NO ONE has the originally inspired scriptures. You know this as well as I. But you can't tell me that our Lord did not consider this fact concerning His word, or that He has not inspired some of the translators of “some” versions; OR that the enemy has not taken this opportunity to dilute the Living Word. If those folks who insist on arguing with me concerning this matter, understood the word "faith," perhaps they could understand what I have been saying. Or is it that they simply enjoy quarreling. From the way the wolves seem to have come out of their corners to attack me concerning this matter, I strongly suspect the latter. The attitudes of those responding thus far concerning this topic perplexes me, for I had thought very highly of many who insist on attacking my stance on this matter. Why the attacks? Because one of their own, who cannot accept rebuke, chose to go on the offensive concerning a matter that can only be contrary to the very essence of scripture. If they cannot understand what it is I am saying concerning the inspiration of “some” versions of scripture, I would attest that perhaps, though they are into scripture, scripture has yet to get into them. Perhaps this is due to the fact that, when it comes right down to the bottom line, they do not trust the very words they profess. They have no foundation. Considering the stance they have taken against my profession, what other conclusion am I to assume? As yet, there is at least one more person in this forum whom I have grown to love and respect, who has not added to the conversation. When he does, if his attitude concerning the matter is the same as the many thus far, I will wipe the dust of this forum off my feet. Hopefully though, there is at least one herein who does more than just profess and will perhaps prove it with his comments, should he decide to lower himself to the level of participating. Your brother in Christ. GB |

You posted this to Mommapbs but addressed me in it. I hope you don't include me as one that is attacking you. I'm interested in your findings and how you came to your conclusions. However I will admit I'm a bit confused in places by what your saying. Please read my latest post to you ID 134491 and read it not as an attack but an attempt to clarification to understand what your saying. EdB |
