Glory Bound - In speaking of versions (translations) of the Bible, you wrote "...only a few are truly inspired..." Now, which translations are inspired, and just how does a translation become inspired and who inspires it? For example, you in your user profile list the KJV and the NIV as inspired versions. Is it your contention that God inspired these two versions and skipped over all others? The NASB, for instance, is considered by Bible scholars as a thoroughly reliable translation and possibly the most literally accurate one available today. And yet the NIV is inspired and the NASB is not, is that what you are saying? How can you possibly prove that ANY team of translators or that ANY translation is divinely inspired? And, to carry this supposition even further, would you say that certain translations into languages other than English are inspired while others are not? Are you the author of these value judgments or is someone else? Regardless of whose claim it is, what evidence can you produce to show that any TRANSLATION of the Scriptures is inspired? What are the criteria that you used to reach your judgment? When Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 3:16 that all Scripture is God breathed, was he speaking of the KJV and the NIV, or was he indeed speaking of something else entirely? --Hank

Why is it Hank, that I sense hostility in your words? Personally I am lead by the Holy Spirit concerning the Word. Anyone who is sincere concerning their study, and adheres to 2 Timothy 2:15 can discern the difference. I think you know this as well as I do. Do you make the claim that ALL translations are equal? I stated in my profile, “I use the KJV, NIV and Interlinear Hebrew, Greek and English Versions of scripture. My Electronic References are provided by eSword, which in my opinion is to scripture what Windows is to the computer…” I also stated that some translations are no more than tools of the enemy. Do you profess that a child of God can not discern such, Hank? I neglected to say that, included in my “electronic references” are dozens of Various Scriptural Translations. I made no statement as to which TRANSLATION of the Scriptures I considered not to be inspired, and Hank, frankly I resent your implication and tone. I do not depend solely on mans knowledge. Neither should anyone who desires to know the truth concerning the Word. I reiterate the first statement in my profile. “I believe in the Word as "a whole" without the leaven of man. If I offend you, Hank, I am sorry, but don’t expect me to change just because you think I should. Isn’t this like the foot telling the hand how it should act? I believe it was J. Vernon Magee who made the statement. “ You can graze on the pastures of others, but give your own milk. I say that, for those who don’t like fresh white milk; to each his own. Though I do like biscuits made from it, I don’t like buttermilk. Hank, when you see or hear me state which TRANSLATIONS of the Scriptures are not inspired, you will see me provide enough scriptural proof to convince even yourself, that is if you actually possess the discernment I credit you for. Glory Bound - Wouldn't it have been much more appropriate simply to answer my questions than to evade them by launching into a tirade at me, suggesting that I was being hostile merely for asking? Now, why not back off the evasion and answer the questions I asked of you? If you cannot defend your position that the KJV and NIV are inspired translations, say so. If you can, then please proceed to do so. But please cease to attack me. You have no reason to make me the scapegoat of your inability or unwillingness, whichever it is, to answer the questions. This is a lousy defense of your position. You have posted your views on a public forum and all of your peers on this Forum have an equal right to ask you to back them up with fact. Ad hominem insults are out of line and they certainly don't promote any good thing on this Forum or any place else. --Hank

As I previously stated Hank, “I resent the tone” in which you originally asked your questions. Considering the tone of your response, it is apparent that I did not misread your original tone. And considering the fact that I have reciently rebuked you, I strongly suspect you are one who holds a grudge and cannot accept constructive criticism. Under more friendly circumstances, I would be more than happy to answer your questions in more detail than I did in my last note. (Re-read it Hank, You will see that I did answer your question, in my 1st paragraph. If you do not agree with my answer, then perhaps I have given you more credit than deserved.) Or, are you a Scientologist who insists on physical proof? I have no intention of quarreling with you dear brother, nor do I have any inclination to answer to you. This conversation is closed. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you dear brother. GB |

Call it what you will Hank. Scripture labels it "adherence." I should think that you would remember what you quote so often. The TOS. Dear brother, have you never read 2Ti 2:16, “But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” Or is it your desire to quarrel with me? Is it your desire to reveal that which you have only partially concealed in your notes concerning this subject? GB |
