Hi BradK Sorry I think perhaps you misunderstood me. I never said that life was a bed of roses as a Christian and that we would never face any challenges. You are absolutely right - it is the challenges that build our character and our faith. What I did say is that it is not God's BEST that we suffer these things, that is why we are continually encouraged in the Word to build our faith. As God meets our needs (physical, spiritual or whatever) so our faith increases and so our understanding of the Character of God also increases. Yes we do get sick and the Word provides for our healing and we can be tremendous testimonies through this. However as our faith progresses, we can get to the stage where we are walking in divine health. According to the Word we don't have to get sick because Jesus paid the price, but unfortunately when we are born again we are still babes in Christ and there is so much to learn before we even get near maturity. Yes sure people do experience lack financially, but we can stand on the Word and trust God to provide and when he does, what a testimony and at the same time faith-building. I don't understand why certain things happen, however, at the same time I also believe that many times we bring things on ourselves by either not being sensitive to the Spirit or by not doing things in line with the Word, or by stepping out of the will of God. In all these instances we move out of the covering - See Psalm 91. However as I said there are a lot of things we don't understand at this stage, eg. why does someone who is really walking very closely with Lord get killed in a car accident or have a heart attack and die? I don't know, however that does not get my focus off His Word and His promises in His Word. Does what happened to some of the disciples or to some of the greatest men of God make the Word of no effect? I say with Paul "God forbid!" Brenda |

Hi Brenda, Thanks for your reply. I agree with the majority of what you said, but I would take issue with and seek further clarification when you state, "However as our faith progresses, we can get to the stage where we are walking in divine health." I don't see scripture as saying this anywhere, unless you're refering to our state in 1 John 3:2. We have to be careful not to say something that scripture doesn't say:-) Also, Jesus didn't die primarily for our physical healing, but for our spiritual healing. The reference in Isaiah 53 refers to "spiritual healing" and has been understood as such historically! In other words, His death atoned for our sin, not our physical infirmities. We who are dead in trespasses and sin according to Eph. 2:1, need life, not just a cure for our sickness. That life is only found in the Person of our Lord, Jesus Christ ( Rom. 5:10). Hi Bradk Thanks a lot, but the scripture that I am referring to in particular as I have said before is 1Peter 2:24 - I am sure there are a number of other scriptures as well, but this scripture in particular says "and by His stripes ye WERE healed". So if we WERE healed, we ARE healed and the provision has thus been made for us to walk in divine health. We just need to get a revelation of that word in our spirits. Brenda |

Hi Brenda, I understand the verse, but 1 Peter 2:24 is a direct quotation of Is. 53:5 and so the interpretation does not change:-) Though we may have to differ on this, the question is: does "by His stripes you were healed", refer to physical or spritual healing? Again, I take the historical and orthodox view that this refers to "spritual healing." I respectfully disagree that a direct connection exists because of this "healing" that "the provision has thus been made for us to walk in divine health." I believe this is going beyond what is written- it's taking the verse too far. OK?, I hope that clarifies my position. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Hi there Thanks for the response. I hear what you are saying but perhaps you should have a look a some of the Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Jerry Savelle material on healing/walking in divine health. Their books and tapes on this subject is really very interesting and eye opening. I have personally been extremely blessed by their material. Bless you Brenda |

Brenda, I'd respectfully decline to read any of these authors.( I'm well aware of who they are and I've seen them on TBN) None of them are considered as scholars by any stretch of the imagination, and I consider them heretical at worst, aberational at best in their teachings. I'm not surprised that you've arrived at the conclusions you have based on the WOF input you've been blessed with:-) Blessings to you too, my sister, BradK |
