Does a Christian have miraculous power or not? Jesus seemed to think so. 1. Matt 17:20 And He *said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. 2.Mark 9:23 And Jesus said to him, "'If You can?' All things are possible to him who believes 3.Matt 21:21 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will happen. 4.Mark 11:23 "Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. 5. Matt 18:19 "Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. 6.Matt 21:22 "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." 7.John 14:13 "Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 262 John 14:14 "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. 8.John 15:7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 9.John 16:23 "In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. John 16:24 "Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full. John 16:25 "These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but will tell you plainly of the Father. John 16:26 "In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf; John 16:27 for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father. Perhaps some of the wise brethren who condemn the brothers in the Word of Faith Churches for having faith would be kind enough to tells us which of these statements made by the Master are not supossed to be believed, ..... literally. Are we supposed to be poor and sick or prosperous and well? 1.Matt 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 2.Mark 4:24 And He was saying to them, "Take care what you listen to. By your standard of measure it will be measured to you; and more will be given you besides. 3.Luke 6:38 "Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure--pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return." 4.Matt 6:30 "But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith 5.Matt 9:29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, "It shall be done to you according to your faith." 6.Matt 14:31 Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" 7.Matt 15:28 Then Jesus said to her, "O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish." And her daughter was healed at once. 8.Matt 21:21 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will happen. 9.Mark 4:40 And He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?" 10.Mark 10:52 And Jesus said to him, "Go; your faith has made you well." Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him on the road. 11.Luke 7:50 And He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace." What was that word the Master kept using? Oh yes FAITH. It seems He thought it very important. In Fact He said, Luke 18:7 now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? Luke 18:8 "I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?" Not on this forum, I'm afraid. Continued: |

"Did Jesus promise to give us literally anything we ask for in faith?" "No. This is a Word-Faith misinterpretation of Mark 11:23,24. "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." There are limitations on what God will give, indicated by the broader context of Scripture." "To begin, God will not literally give us anything we ask. Some things are actually impossible. For example, God cannot grant a request of a creature to be God. Neither can He answer a request to approve of our sin. God will not give us a stone if we ask for bread, nor will He give us a serpent if we ask for fish (Matt. 7:9,10)." "When the rest of Scripture is taken into consideration, there are many conditions placed on God's promise to answer prayer in addition to faith. We must "abide in Him" and let His Word "abide in us" (John 15:7). We cannot "ask amiss" out of our own selfishness (James 4:3). Furthermore, we must ask "according to His will" (1 John 5:14). Even Jesus prayed, "Father, if it is possible, let this cup [His death] pass from Me" (Matt. 26:39). We must ever keep in mind that on all except God's unconditional promises, this "if it be Your will" must always be stated or implied."
