1 | Is is right to call money a seed? | NT general Archive 1 | casiv | 23984
Hello Bob Y, Thanks for your response. Steve already corrected me on "Love" and it appears you want to correct me on "all kinds". I have looked at many different translations, which I will list some below, but what I think is the right way to test the translations and/or transliterations is to let scripture interpret scripture and study words into their original languages. NKJV - For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, NASB - For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, ASV - For the love of money is a root af all kinds of evil, NIV - For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, NLT - For the love of money is at the root of all kinds of evil, And then: RSV - For the love of money is the root of all evils, Websters - For the love of money is the root of all evil, Young's - for a root of all the evils is the love of money Darby's - For the love of money is(the) root of every evil AV - For the love of money is the root of all evil I believe "all evil" is the right translation because: Luke 16:13 - No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other: or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." mammon in the Strongs is Greek 3126 - mammonas; of Chald. or (confidence, i.e. fig, wealth, personified); mammonas, i.e. avarice(deified):-mammon avarice(websters dictionary)- excessive or insatiable desire for wealth or gain: greediness, cupidity deify(Websters Dict.)-\vt-fied- (1)(a) to make a god of (b) to take an object of worship (2) to glorify as supreme worth Ezekiel 28:1-10 will tell you about the type of man, who in history was Ithobalus II (Heb.-'ethbaal) which I believe is symbolic of the false prophet of Rev 16:13 and of Rev 13:5-10. Then, if you read Ezekiel 28:11-19, which I believe is a supernatural being addressed, you have a symbolic description of the dragon in Rev. 16:13 and the dragon of Rev 13:11-18. He whom the "prince of Tyre" was only a type; He who was using that "prince" as one of his agents to secure the world power(The Beast system of Rev 13:1-4 and the beast of Rev16:13). He is not a mere "man" as "the prince of Tyre"(see Eze 28:9) His description (Eze 28:12-17) is superterrestrial, and superhuman, and can refer to no other than satan himself. I agree with you that it is a shame what pastors do regarding money and seeds as if they have something to do witheach other, but I disagree with the versions that say the love of money is the root of all "kinds of" evil because I believe scripture clearly supports that satan and his greed which is seen in jealousy, envy, and power are all caused by the love of money which I believe is the ROOT of ALL evil, which I believe marks satans trail in the world. 2 | Does sexual lust have roots in money? | NT general Archive 1 | Bob Y. | 24011
Hi Casiv, I didn't mean to seem like I was jumping on you. I didn't notice that Steve had corrected you until after I had submitted the entry. Then I thought "Whops" If the love of money is the root of "all" evil then how do you feel that sexual lust would fit into that picture? Hmmm. For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 1Jo 2:16 God bless you, Bob |

Hi BobY and Bless You in the Fathers Love, Thanks for your response. I never felt like you were jumping on me but thanks for saying you were not. We must test the spirits and check scripture with scripture, I like to think of it as crossing your t's and dotting your i's. Thank you also for teaching and reminding me that we have many translations done by men and they all don't say or mean the same things. Anyway, since the the love of money is the root of all evil(1Tim6:10 KJV) and is the verse which started our conversation, I felt it should be our starting point to figure how sexual lust fits into the the picture. I started by looking up the words "love" and "money" in the original Greek language, as they were written in, in 1Tim6:10 KJV. I looked them up in the Strongs Concordance and both words reference the same number in Greek which is 5365. The Strongs number 5365 in the Greek is philarguria, from 5366; avarice:-love of money. The Strongs number 5366 in the Greek is philarguros, from 5384 and 696; fond of silver(money), i.e. avaricious:-covetous. The Strongs number 5384 in the Greek is philos, prop. dear, i.e. a friend; act. fond, i.e. friendly(still as a noun, an associate, neighbor, etc.):-friend. The Strongs number 696 in the Greek is arguros from argos(shining); silver(the metal, in the articles or coin: silver. There is a well known scholar I like, who was quoted saying,"The first occurrence of a word, or an Expression, or an utterance is the key to its subsequent usage and meaning; or atleast a guide as to the essential point connected with it.The first occurrence of words, expressions, and utterances are generally essential to their interpretation. This is a law we have long since noticed, and have never yet found it to fail." In agreeance with what the scholar has stated and since in English the two words are different by definition, I went to the first usage of the words "love" and "money" in the Bible. First occurrence Gen 27:4, in the Strongs, the Hebrew word for "love" is 'ahab, number 157 - a prim. root to have affection for (sexually or otherwise):-(be-) love(-d,-ly,-r), like, friend. First occurrence Gen 17:12, in the Strongs, the Hebrew word for "money" is keceph, number 3701 -from 3700; silver (from its pale color); by impl. money:- money, price, silver(-ling). Hebrew number 3700 is kacaph - a prim. root; prop. to become pale, i.e. (by impl.) to pine after; also to fear:-(have) desire, be greedy, long, sore. I believe satan wants to be Jesus and will appear as a "false jesus"(Rev 13:11 - "...like a lamb and he spake as a dragon.") and because I believe he is everything associated with the root of all evil, as the love of money(greed, power, envy, jealousy). I believe that the lust of the flesh is directly tied into evil through the original language and the first occurrences in the Bible for the words "love" and "money" in the meanings we have been given, transliterated into English. I also thought it was interesting that within the verse you quoted, 1John2:16, it is written,"lust of the flesh", "lust of the eyes", and " the pride of life" all associate very well with greed, power, envy, and jealousy. This is what I believe, I hope this helps. Peace in Faith and Hope and in the Love of the Father and Son, Casiv |
