2nd Samuel 22, greetings! While I am keenly aware that the term "Jesus freak" is widely used in certain circles, I have never been comfortable with it by any means. I am a regenerate believer in Jesus Christ but would hardly subscribe to the idea that I have thereby been made freakish! There are so many negative connotations inherent in the word "freak" that I recoil at having it linked to my relationship to the Lord Jesus. Even the best sense of the meaning of "freak" -- an ardent enthusiast -- does not capture the meaning of my relationship to my Lord. It sounds too much like being a member of Jesus' fan club! --Hank

That is ok Hank if you don't like it. You don't have to adopt the name. I am however "late harvest", I didn't grow up in the pews of a church. I grew up around drugs, sex, and alcohol, cons and bikers. I grew up striving to be different , before I became a Christian. Now how different I am. I am completely different from the old me. It makes me a freak, one who stands out in stark contrast to the backdrop in which I live. I am different for a good reason now. I have fully "come out of the closet" so to speak, and am not ashamed to tell others I am a Christian. And that makes me weird and freakish to the unregenerate. Let em laugh but I know the truth and the truth has set me free. -Jeshuafreak

Well, my background (I being old enough to be considered a fossil by the new generation) is altogether different from yours, which is largely foreign to me, and thus I defer to your calling yourself Jeshuafreak, since you put it that many of your peers consider you weird and freakish because you are a Christian. So if anyone wishes to call me weird and freakish because of that, then I suppose, fellow Christian, that we both are just that -- freaks! But it is they who call us such unsavory names who have the real problem! I appreciate your explanation and beg forbearance with us of the Medicare generation who sometimes have problems with understanding the challenges that young Christians face today that weren't really a part of the world in which we grew up. Please consider me a fan to blow on the coals of your zeal and ministry for Christ, not a damper to suppress them! --Hank

Thank you Hank... I also would like to add that in calling myself a freak I take the wind out of their sails. If the best they can do is call me unsavory names than i have a long way to go to being truelly persecuted. I don't wish to be persecuted but Christ said that it is going to happen to those who serve Him. I am blessed to live in the USA for now. I see I time coming soon where this will not always be so. -Jeshuafreak |

When I was a young man, there was no talk about the possibility that Christians would be denied the right to practice their faith openly and freely in the United States. Today the tables have shifted and talk is heard in all quarters that there is a clear and present danger of seeing this freedom vanish. You are by no means the lone wolf crying in the night. The strength of our country is not measured or determined so much by our economic and military superiority as it is by our moral fiber and our dedication to the God-centered foundations upon which it was established. While it is prudent to defend ourselves from destruction by forces that are from without, it is at least equally prudent to realize that the corruption that is from within can just as surely destroy us without a shot being fired. --Hank

Hank - I thank you again for your comments. There is much wisdom in the words you so eloquently stated. The attack on our religious freedoms is eminent indeed. Be sure to go to www.aclj.org and sign the petitition to protect the Pledge of Alegience, which is under attack. God bless you my friend and keep fighting the good fight. -Jeshuafreak aka Joshua Olinger |
