Dear fellow believers, Not to be dogmatic, but has anyone noticed lately the flood of new members calling Jesus by the name(s) "Yashua", "Y'shua", "Jeshua", etc. I understand that "Jesus" was His name in Greek, and the others(however you want to spell them) are His Hebrew name. But it is awfully peculiar that we have had at least 3 new members calling Him by one of these names within the last week or two. There is a sect called the "Sacred Name" or "House of Yahweh", who DEMAND that we refer to Him by His Hebrew name. And when I used to(used to, that is) go to Christian chat rooms, they would pop in 2 or 3 at a time. I'm not saying this is happening here, but it is quite a coincidence. Again, I don't mean to ruffle feathers, this is just an observation. He is exalted, the King is exalted on High!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

2nd Samuel 22 - I demand that you call Him Joshua!! Just kidding...but that is what we would call Him if He was growing up on our block in rural or suburban america. His name means the "the Lord is salvation"or "the Lord saves" , which is kind of funny if you think about it. When we say Jesus saves, we are being redundant. My real name is Joshua and I could call myself Jesus if I was Hispanic. Actually I saw a Spanish Bible and it had the book of Joshua spelled Josue', pronounced hoe-sway. You know it doesn't matter though as long as youo know you are talking about Jesus Christ the omnipotent eternal Apha and Omega Lord of lords King of kings forever exalted...He is exalted, the King is exalted on High and I will praise His name.... if I had no toungue in which to speak His name I would still praise His name. How bout the old testament saints that didn't know His name? They still praised His name... the One Who had no name. The one who was just a tetragram. YHWH... Someday we will speak His proper name in glory. What is truely important is the meaning behind the name. Are you a true Christian? If so who is Jesus , Y'Shua, Yeshua, Jeshua, Joshua, Josue' to you. I assure you He is God. He was and is the God-man. He is not spirit brother to Lucifer as the JW's assert. He is not anything less than who He is He is the great I AM.. Sorry bout my ramblings and I will catch you all later.- Jeshuafreak ------ P.S. Jesusfreak was taken when I adopted this name, in case yooue wondered |

Dear Jeshuafreak, I hear what you're saying. And if we reeeeeally want to get technical, even spelling God's name "YHWH" is not correct, because those are not Hebrew letters. And He does have so many names: LORD Sabaoth, Father, Creator, Mighty, Sovereign, Merciful. I would run out of words before I would run out of names for my God!! You said--P.S. Jesusfreak was taken when I adopted this name, in case yooue wondered . "Jesus Freak" was one of the first songs my stepson listened to regularly after he was saved. He is exalted, the King is exalted on High!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

2nd Samuel 22, greetings! While I am keenly aware that the term "Jesus freak" is widely used in certain circles, I have never been comfortable with it by any means. I am a regenerate believer in Jesus Christ but would hardly subscribe to the idea that I have thereby been made freakish! There are so many negative connotations inherent in the word "freak" that I recoil at having it linked to my relationship to the Lord Jesus. Even the best sense of the meaning of "freak" -- an ardent enthusiast -- does not capture the meaning of my relationship to my Lord. It sounds too much like being a member of Jesus' fan club! --Hank

That is ok Hank if you don't like it. You don't have to adopt the name. I am however "late harvest", I didn't grow up in the pews of a church. I grew up around drugs, sex, and alcohol, cons and bikers. I grew up striving to be different , before I became a Christian. Now how different I am. I am completely different from the old me. It makes me a freak, one who stands out in stark contrast to the backdrop in which I live. I am different for a good reason now. I have fully "come out of the closet" so to speak, and am not ashamed to tell others I am a Christian. And that makes me weird and freakish to the unregenerate. Let em laugh but I know the truth and the truth has set me free. -Jeshuafreak
