It is an english translation. If they were to translate all Hebrew words to Hebrew. Would not that be an exercise in futility? I suppose there is a degree of sincere reverence in many that wonder which name is correct when addressing God. But since Jesus said Eloi on the cross, when he called out to My God., where does it end? We are talking about God here not man. God does not go by a proper name like Tom or Joe. When men asked God's name he answered with Covenant personalities. I AM, which means I am all that you need God to be to you. If you will obey me in faith

Is it possible this is selective translation. In the NT Baptize is transliterated from greek directly into english? There are some who think this was done so the type of baptism, sprinkled or dunked is not delt with in what some think it should be. The term "God" is use every where for a general use for a supreme being. "I am" or Eloi or Yahweh perhaps might be more specfic and meaningful?

Perhaps I am wrong but to me it seems you have a mistrust of bible scholars, preachers, and Ordained Ministers. I am ordained, and consider myself to have done some scholary work. I do not consider myself better or knowing the Bible better than anyone else. I am one who is growing in faith. I have a pretty complete supply of materials to look up answers. I some times ask questions to start a dialogue with others for mutual growth and edification. Should you not want to join such a dialogue, please consider if insulting and demeaning other christians, makes you come accross as impatient, and harsh. Which none of my questions are ever ment to be. Forgive me if I have not understood you correctly. Peace, farout |
