Greetings Jmscott! I'll answer your question my friend, if you will then answer my question. You asked, "i ask you again did god translate or inspire?..and if he did inspire men to write the bible...what men were inspired....and today are the translators inspired?..." Allow me to answer all of these questions. 1) God inspired the authors of both testaments to write exactly what they wrote. This includes their choice of words when they translated OT passages into Greek. Thus, the 50 times that YHWH is translated as 'kurios' in the New Testament is a translation inspired by God. 2) The only men inspired were the authors of the canonical books found in the Old and New Testamets. 3) Translators today are not inspired, though I do believe they can be led. My point again is very simple. The NT translates 'YHWH' as 'kurios' 50 times. This translation is inspired by God. Thus, when we translate the Hebrew into English, we are followings God's pattern if we also translate (as God inspired the NT writers to do) 'YHWH' as Lord. Now, would you answer my question please? Is the NT wrong to translate 'YHWH' as 'Kurios' or 'Lord'? If it is okay for 'YHWH' to be translated as 'Lord' in Greek, then it is okay for 'YHWH' to be translated as Lord in English. It is that simple my friend. If God wanted the NT writers to do as you have been suggesting we must do, then He would have had them transliterate 'YHWH' rather than translating it. But, He didn't - did He? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Greetings Jmscott! So now you are saying that the New Testament wasn't originally written in Greek! Even the Scriptures your refer to support you contention my friend. Look at Mal. 1:6. It says that the priests had shown contempt for God's name. How did they show contempt for God's name? Look at verse 7! They offered defiled food on the altar. They didn't mispronounce God's name, they ignored His commands. The New Testament was written under the inspiration of God Himself - in Greek. He translated 'YHWH' as Lord. You can argue around the facts any way you want my friend, but the facts won't change! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Greetings Jmscott! There is no debate concerning what God's name is in the OT - it is YHWH! We both agree on this. The issue is whether or not YHWH can be translated into English as Lord. My contention is that God Himself translated YHWH as Lord in Greek. Therefore, it is an acceptable translation for English as well. Now, you did not respond to my last question: Was the NT originally written in Greek? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
