Love Fountain I think just the opposite is true. I think much of the problem today is because men have put away what the bible has told them and rely on their "sincere heart". I agree we should always follow the leading of the Holy Spirit but His leading will never betray the Scriptures. Think about it, if we both agree God wrote the Bible to be plainly understood, and we have major divisions today what could be the problem? Men have allowed what they THOUGHT to be the Holy Spirit to lead them in different directions. If man would insist on reading the Bible without preconceive notions, prejudices, and following accepted rules of grammar none of that would have happened. Try an experiment, learn to do Inductive Bible Study then take a book of the Bible and apply these principals and see if you theology doesn’t get readjusted. We as humans have learned to adjust, manipulate, and change what the Bible says to fit our thoughts, principles, beliefs, and prejudices and we do it under the guise of this was revealed to our heart. Dear EdB, Thanks for your response. You state, "Think about it, if we both agree God wrote the Bible to be plainly understood, and we have major divisions today what could be the problem? I am sorry to say but we do not both agree. The bible is not written to be plainly understood. Jesus spoke in parables because it was not for "them" to understand. "Them" are the ones who do not read the Bible with the sincerity of their heart to understand and if they did, then Jesus promises to heal them. Matt 13:10-15 10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: 15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART, and should be converted, and I should heal them. KJV It is plainly stated in the above verse that we will not be healed until we seek to understand with all our heart. Perhaps we could sum it up with a choice, wisdom or reason? I will choose wisdom every time. Bless you, Love Fountain Jer 29:13-14 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your HEART. 14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive. KJV I believe the significance of the heart would be better understood if all 830 times it is used in the KJV were read with a sincerity of heart. |

Love Fountain I'm sorry I thought we were talking about believers. Let me restate, ‘the Bible was written to be clearly understood by all believers’. Now I think we are in agreement unless your going to say the Bible is only clearly understood by a group of believers that come to the same conclusions as you. Again I say the Bible was written to be clearly understood by (believers) but because we read it with preconceived notions, prejudices, and in open violation of the rules of grammar we come to different and at times conflicting conclusions. Again I challenge you, learn to do inductive Bible study (if you don’t already) and then study a book of the Bible using those principals and see for yourself, in most cases your theology will be challenged. When we remove our prejudices, our past teaching, read within context, following established rules of grammar and eliminate preconceived notions most Bible passages read a little different than we supposed. If this is not the case on your part then all I can say is a I stand in awe of you. I will leave it up to you to figure out why. Be Blessed and be a Blessing EdB |

Start out reading St John 15. Then Joshua 1:8-9. Next apply to your life. In the book of Proverbs there are 31 books, read one for each day of the month. If it is the first read the first chapter. Now you can go anywhere! I started by finding out who I was in Christ. Do you know who you are? What is your reason for being on earth? Now why did God creat you and what seeds did he plant in you to do before leaving earth? I hope this help you. May the blessings of Abraham be upon you! |
