LVDTHELORD, With all due respect, this statement is not correct. Dispensationalism may want to insert a gap in this prophecy but scripture does not. Nothing in these verses, including Daniel speaks of any gap. We do not have authority to create gaps or break down a whole period of time into lesser periods of time and say it is biblical unless scripture itself is crystal clear on this matter. Now, if anyone can show the gap without "assuming" it, then I will accept it as biblical authority. Is that fair? Sam Hughey |

HI SAM I DOUBT WE WILL EVER AGREE, I DON'T BELIEVE THAT WE WANT TO INSERT ANYTHING. THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS THE LAST PART OF DANIEL'S PROPHECY HAS NOT OCCURED AND 2THESS.2:2-7 AND OUR LORD IN MATT.24 TALK OF THE ANTI CHRIST COMING IN AT A CERTAIN POINT IN HISTORY. THOSE EVENTS HAVE NOT OCCURED, THERE FOR, IN ITSELF A GAP OF TIME PRODUCES ITS OWN CLARITY BY HISTORICAL TRUTH.. I AM IN AGREEMENT WITH YOU ABOUT KEEPING TRUTH ALIGNED WITH BIBICAL AUTHORITY...... BUT ALAS WE COME FROM TWO DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES |

LVDTHELORD, I'm certain there is much where we would agree, however, our concern should not be centered on agreeing or disagreeing with each other but, rather, scripture. If dispensationalists truly do not want to insert gaps of time into scripture, then they should simply stop doing so when scripure gives no warrant for so doing. The only reason you believe "those" events have not yet occurred is because dispensational theology is the light by which you interpret scripture. However, scripture never depends upon the created light of men in order to determine the interpretation of scripture itself. The "supposed and imaginative" absence of an event which is based on the demands of a man-centered theology in no way whatsoever proves a gap in scripture where scripture itself never intended one to be. This is precisely what I was saying about inserting whatever one needs to be there. The insertion is not derived from scripture but, rather, from a man invented theology that forces scripture to mean whatever it wants it to mean. If the gap has so much clarity, why then is scripture completely ignored and dispensationalism becomes the only light by which scripture has any meaning? 2 Thessalonians 2:2-7 are time-specific related verses. Paul did not write to the believers at Thessalonica in the 1st century to warn them of an event or a person that would "never" have any impact on them at all and would only happen in some unknown future time that is continually forced to be further into the future because of the continually failed prophecies by dispensationalists. Paul wrote to a specific group of people, concerning a specific event, a specific person and in verse 5 he reminds (them specificially) that he told (them specifically) about these specific events and this specific person. Paul also goes onto specifically relate these specific events with the appearing of the Lord's coming (verse 8). Yet in spite of all the specific verses of scripture, dispensationalists come along and reject and deny any specificity at all. The clear and unambiguous words of our Lord are watered down to the imagination of men. We do not come from two different perspectives, we merely view scripture from two different perspectives. One is from a scriptural perspective and the other is from a non-scriptural perspective. Sam Hughey |

There are several reasons for this misunderstanding pertaining to the prphetic message. One is that many churches are infected with God-dishonoring and bible-unbelieving liberalism. They are also ignorant or adverse to the prophetic importance of Israel. Many pastors and ministries today have been sadly reduced to nothing more than glorified psychologists who try to make people feel good and meet their emotional needs instead of proclaiming the Word of God with power, conviction and passion. Unlike ten or twenty years ago, the teaching of Bible prophecy has fallen by the wayside because many church circles have deemed that it has little, if any, practical value for today. But Bible prophecy does have practical value. It builds our faith in the sovereignty of God, who holds the future in His hands. The return of Christ challenges us to live in holy expectation of His coming (John 3:1-3). Certainly, prophecy also is a tool of witnessing. The Bible is the only book that accurately forecasts the future and this can be shown by informed teachers and testifiers. The striking prophetic fulfillment of the Jews returning to the land of Israel in our century is one such faith-inspiring prophetic fulfillment. The generally bad condition of the world and the relationship between nations-the famine, pestilence, earthquakes, and so many other prophetic issues can cogently be understood through knowledge of Biblical prophecy. The unbeliever, and or ignorent Christian made familiar with what Scripture predicted for these times may be convicted by the very relevance of the Bible texts on prophecy. And then there is the support of Israel, which is a biblically based mandate for every Christian. All other nations were created by an act of men, but God Himself established the boundaries of the nation of Israel. God gave to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob a covenant of land that was eternally binding, and it’s recorded in the book of Genesis. God also told Abraham that He would make Abraham’s descendants into a great nation and through them He would bless all the families of the earth. aaaaaaaaany one intrested in wanting to open their minds and hart to Gods word should look at it in a litteal sence. And futher study on prophecy i would personally recomend several books on prophecy by Tim LayHaye and especially some book and DVD's by John Hagee ministries.I'm totally Frustrated but not surprised by how many Christians choose not to believe in biblical prophecy. You ether believe in the righen word of God or you don’t. The entire book of the bible, not just bits and pieces of it. I would like to know why we have a tendency to believe in the stories of the bible, such as Gods creation story, Adam and Eve, the flood, the tower of babble, the story of Moses, the story of Christ, birth teachings, death resurrection etc, etc, etc, but when it come to events that have not accrued but were prophesied to, we have a tendency to doubt or not to believe. We even start to start label Prophecy believers as dispensationalist. In Crist, by the way, he also Prophecied end times. Tony |
