Hi Steve, in the OT, redemption was according to obedience of the rule in each dispensation. For example, in the dispensation of Conscience, souls were responsible for knowing the difference between right and wrong. In the dispensation of Law, they were responsible for obeying the Law. But redemption by the blood of the Lamb, was not in the OT. Mount Zion is typical figure of the Church (Obadiah 1:17; Isaiah 2; Psalm 2). If you look at verse 4 in the natural sense, then wouldn't this mean that the 144K were only men who were virgins? What about men who defile themselves with men, are they part of the 144K since they didn't defile themselves with women? I have to look at this verse as speaking of spiritual purity because natural virginity without Christ as Savior is worthless. Thanks for your response, WalkingTalkingBible |

Hello WTB, I would rather state that redemption is according to the obedience of the redeemer, not the redeemed. The one for whom the price is paid is redeemed regardless of any obedience. There's no reason for me to push harder concerning any typology (or lack thereof) which might be present. One cannot be strictly literal in the verbage concerning defilement and virginity, but there can be debate as to where the line is drawn. Steve |
