1 | Can salvation be lost? | Jude 1:5 | Mommapbs | 124019
I respectfully disagree with your claim: "Yes, indeed Jesus' blood will indeed cover our sins on that all important Judgment Day IF we've done our part and maintained that close, personal relationship with our Lord." Country Girl - we are saved by Grace, period. There is no such thing as a "conditional salvation" such as you have expressed in this post. Either Jesus blood is sufficient or it is not. What you are saying is that our "works of obedience" are necessary to get to Heaven and that is just not so according to Eph 2:8-9. Romans 10:9-11 also tells us that the only thing we do is to respond to God's offer of what Christ has already DONE - He is the One who has been obedient and we believe in that obedience as a payment for our sin. We DO nothing to maintain the Grace that we are given upon our confession of faith in the FINISHED work of Christ. No one is disagreeing with your postition on living a Godly life, but the purpose you present for doing so is not Biblical - what you are espousing is focused is on performance, on self effort not on Jesus. HE is THE Theme of the Bible - it's all about what God has done for us, not what we do for God! Blessings, mommapbs |

2 | Can salvation be lost? | Jude 1:5 | jalanlambert | 124042
mommapbs, I agree and appreciate your explanation of grace and Gods unconditional love through His Son Jesus Christ. I think it is sad to see people torn between loving God for His gift of salvation to us and their need to accomplish some work to prove their love, in order to continue to be saved. If it were up to me to keep myself saved, I wouldn't have a chance. My flesh will keep me from God. I will never be perfect in this body. However, my desire to be perfect (pure) is not because I want to stay saved. It is because I understand that I can't keep myself saved and that that was accomplished for me on calvery's cross. It comes from the love I now have for Jesus for saving me. When in heaven if asked why should I let you in, my reply will be because Jesus Christ paid for all my sins, and that alone. On the other hand some will want to give an account of the works that they did, as if that will wash away any of their sins. Works are just an expression of obedience to Him and our love for Him. It has nothing to do with staying saved. In Love, Jal |

Based on this position from you and Mommaphs, can you kindly explain James 2 to me, along 1 Jn 1:5-10 and Mt 25:31-46? It seems pretty clear from these scriptures the Lord is expecting to see something in our lives to show evidence of the Christianity that we claim about ourselves. There are many, many other scriptures I could reference like the parable of the debtor in prison and the vine and the branches, but I'm trying to be brief. In summary, there's just SO much in the Bible that clearly teaches we must go to Heaven with some kind of proof or evidence to truly show our devotion and love to our God. I appreciate this dialouge and blessings to you. Country Girl |
