1 | John 8:24- What does this mean to you? | 1 John 4:2 | deep input | 157163
Hello Brother Glenn, What does Joh 8:24 mean to me? I know that I am a sinner. I know that the world is lost. I understand that through Adam and Eve God could not have the type of relationship that He wanted. I know the only way He could have this was by the shedding of blood. There was nothing that man could do to make this relationship right. I understand that it is not by works but by grace through faith that saves us from His wrath. I know Jesus is that Lamb that shed His blood making it possible for God to have the relationship with the world that He desires. I know Jesus is the only way. Now we both know that there is still His wrath to come. Joh 3:16 says God so love the world that he gave his only begotten Son and who so ever believes in him will not parish but have everlasting life. There is also a world that God hates. 1joh 2:15 do not love the world, jas 4:4 friendship with the world is enmity with God. There is world that God loves and a world that God hates. I have been asking God for several years which is which. He has been giving answers has I have been able to understanding. I know I am a child, but I want to grow up. I am seeing very little difference between one of these worlds and modern christianity. Both believe in Christmas, both believe in patriotism, and so on. The Jehovah Witnesses are different from the world and modern day Christianity. The question then becomes, Is the world that modern day christianity is attached to the one that God loves or hates? Is it right to pledge our allegenece to anyone or anything but God?

Hi Deep Input, I have been following this discussion and would like to jump in with a few thoughts. It seems to me that you have been hurt by those in the church. Out of this woundedness, you are searching for truth. It also appears to me as if you are trying to justify becoming a JW, but you know in your heart this is not the way. You said, "I know I am a child, but I want to grow up." If this is true then... 1. You must forgive those who have hurt and disappointed you. IF you do not forgive, then God won't forgive you. (Matthew 6:15) Like a hot potato, it only burns you as you hold onto it. Let it go! 2. The Christian walk is not a religion. It is a relationship...a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. (I John 5:12-13) Establish your own relationship with Jesus. Then work on renewing your mind through the guidance of the Holy Spirit who is given as your teacher and who will guide you into all truth. (John 16:13) 3. Truth is Jesus. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. 4. God loves people. God hates sin and what it does to people. The world that God hates is the world of sin. God does not love some people and hate others. He loves ALL people. (Romans 5:8) He wants to rescue the people trapped in the sin world (kingdom of darkness) and translate them into the Kingdom of His dear son. (Colossians 1:13) 5. At this time the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light are growing side by side. There are some who try to jump back and forth, but God will deal with them. Our responsibility is to make sure we remain true to our Lord and Savior; not judge or speak evil of others. (Romans 12:19, Matthew 16:27, Rev. 3:16) 6. God doesn't haven't problems with pledges or vows unless they cause you to violate his commands. He says to keep our vows. Let our yes be yes and no be no. (Matt. 5:37) In other words, if you say you are going to do something, then do it. Worship, on the other hand, is for God alone. (See the Ten Commandments) Please look up the scriptures and read them for yourself. Hope this helps, Bows44 |
