Jesus said I am the same yesterday, today and tommorow and He never refused to heal anyone. There were some who did not receive their healing. How could God go around making people sick when His Son healed anyone who asked. God is not a child abuser! God will forgive and heal you any time. John 16:3

Greetings Imf! May I ask you a personal question? Have you ever lost a child to illness? I have! My first son was born with congential heart defects. He lived for 9 months. Everytime I read posts like this one, it tears my heart out - not for me, but for all of those families who may have lost loved ones, then read these responses, and think that they did something wrong. I am secure enough in my faith to know better, but many aren't. God doesn't make us sick (usually). Sickness and death are a result of the fall. So, when a baby is born with a congential heart defect, it isn't because he, or his parents, did something wrong. It just happens. (Though some actions on the part of the parents can result in sickness for the child - like drug abuse). The sad reality is that we live in a fallen world. God is His grace will sometimes intervene and bring healing, but not always. Think about it for a second my friend. If 1 Peter 2:24 is teaching that all of the physical effects of sin were healed on the cross, then no one would ever die. No one would ever be sick. Yet, everyone still dies. Why? Because, as Paul tells us in Rom. 8, creation is still groaning, awaiting that glorious transformation which will occur when we are glorified. There will come a day when there will be no more sickness, no death, no tears, and no mourning. But, that day has not come yet. Our son was prayed for by many. I have seen God heal, and I firmly believe in the power of prayer. But, I also believe in the sovereignty of God. God, in His sovereignty, allowed our son to die in spite of our prayers. Was it a waste? No! He is with Jesus right now. His short life touched others in powerful ways. He was constantly sick, but always filled with joy. And I, I learned to have compassion and empathy because of what my wife and I went through. Sometimes, God can receive more glory from our sickness, than He can from our healing. Because I am His servant, I am able to say 'Thy will be done in my life Lord, not my own'. To me, this is true faith. I hope you don't feel that I am upset with you my friend. I am not. But, I do encourage everyone to think about the impact that words can have on others. Many people will never know what it is to live in a hospital for months on end with a sick child, but many will. And, it is an insult to them and their prayers to teach that God will ALWAYS heal. Further, it is not Scriptural either! ;-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

I have not had a child die. I do have a son who was born with an infection that had a 50percent mortality rate in the first 12 hours of life. A clubbed foot for which he's had almost 3 years of therepy and surgery. And then was diagnosed with cancer for which he had 31/2 years of chemotherepy. We live in a world contaminated by sin and the polution caused by it. People young and old die because of diseases that man cant cure. But you wont convince me that God causes sickness. I have prayed for healing for people who have been healed and many more who have not. But I know that scripture says in Exodus 15:26 I am the God who heals you. Also, that in all things we are to give Him praise-but I dont believe it was His will manafested on earth for your son to die. Or that we were so special that our son didnt. Today you cant even watch tv without being told of the latest fad disease and that is a sin against God in my opinion. Moses was 120 when he died yet his eyes were not dim or his forces diminished so why sould we expect less. We have accepted diseases as part of life but should we not also that God says He knows the plans He has for us and they are good. Is it good to die young or older and crippled and deformed absent of our sences and suffering?

Greetings Imf! I praise God with you that your son doing well my friend! :-) You said that you would not be convinced that God causes sickness. For the most part, I don't believe He does. I believe most sickness is a natural result of sin. However, there are Scriptures which indicate that in some instances God did cause sickness. Allow me to mention a few. 1) Miriam was struck with leprosy in Num. 12 as a result of her sin. Who caused her to instantly be struck with leprosy? Why didn't God heal her instantly? 2) 1 Samuel 25:38 says that God struck Nabal so that he died. 3) How about the plagues of Egypt? In Ex. 12:29, God struck down all of the firstborn. In Ex. 9:8-12, God stuck all of the Egyptians with boils. 4) In Exodus 32:35, God sturck all of the people with a plague because of the golden calf. 5) In 2 Sam. 12:15, God struck David's son and he become ill and died. 6) In 2 Sam. 24:15, God sent a plague on the people of Israel for three days and 70,000 people died. I could go on, but this surely is enough evidence to convince anyone from Scripture that God does indeed cause sickness on some occassions. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

What about Job when satan says to God he only cares about you because you bless him take that away and he will curse you. God said to satan look he is in your hand only spare his life. If God puts sickness on people why didnt he strike Job to prove saatan wrong.

Greetings Imf! My friend, you are asking questions that are hypothetical in nature. Why did God do this or not do than? Unless Scripture specifically says, we don't know. However, I listed several Scriptures for you which specifically say that God brought sickness upon certain people for certain reasons. Now, are we to believe what Scripture says or not?
