Thank you Monran 61 for being candid and on the mark about my question on healing. Truly that is the type of response that I was looking for, in fact it has caused me to rethink and ponder more as I research the scriptures. Yes, you are correct in stating that it was Mark 2:1-12. Thank You. I appreciate the shrapening, let me state that in Revelations 22:1-3 it says that the leaves will be for the healing of the Nation. This is during a time when Jesus will rein supreme. Now if we needed healing then surely we would need healing now--that's posed more as a question. Let me explain, I do believe that all things are possible in God to those who believe. It's not much as a faith thing that I'm questioning. It's the holding to a documented fact that the atonement covers or does not cover physical healing. If a person sin during the his walk in Christ he should repent and except the forgiveness of God 1 John1:9. I recognize that he died once and for all but just like we have to receive forgiveness, we also have to receive healing (physical). I know that Paul did not receive a healing because Gods grace was sufficient. Corinthians 12:9. The very question that Paul ask is evidence that God heals. But the atonement question still has not been answered. I know that Christ does not have to die again however, just like repenting of an ungodly act we should also seek healing if our body fail us. That healing should be available because of the work on the cross. What do you think fellow brother and pastor in the Lord? This is really good stuff I'm so excited about God I think as men of God and as the day is older we must stay girded up in the word and not be tired of good study and strong Godly debate. Thank You for your words of wisdom and knowledge they have stirred me up more to study. So I will know Gods will. Fritzeverett. Oh, I'm from Colorado and I'm 41 years young with 4 children. Hello Fritzeverett, Hello..i would like to comment on your statement if I may. "I know that Paul did not receive a healing because Gods grace was sufficient. Corinthians 12:9." Please read, if you have not already, my post #81017. 2 Corinthians is often used to confirm sickness as God's will and instrument of discipline. However, if you re read 2 Corinthians carefully researching the word "suffering' and giving no consideration to the traditional teaching, you may find this is not the case. I do suggest reading the entire book. when I did this study, I opened my Bible and asked the Holy Spirit to help me read it as if for the first time blocking any presuppositions and previous commentaries I had read. As I read I was careful not to interject any words or beliefs and to take the scriptures purely based on what they actually say. I suggest you try that as well. The reason you should reconsider this conclusion is because if you accept this common interpretation of 2 Corinthians (the entire book) your understanding of other scripture in regards to healing will be influenced by this. For instance, you say you are still considering the issue of healing being provided through the atonement. If Corinthians tells us Paul was suffering a physical sickness or desease given him by God, or Satan and allowed by God then the issue of healing and the atonement is already concluded, healing is conditional and not provided for everyone because we have a Biblical exception. Please consider two points. Does scripture tell us what the thorn was? Does scripture tell us why God did not remove it? I would be interested to hear your comments after you read the thread. God bless |
