1 | Why is marijuana use prohibited? | Heb 13:17 | Norrie | 68187
"Could you please elaborate where the Bible "clearly states that we are not to follow laws that are against God's teachings?" Are you saying that using marijuana is 'of' God's teachings?" The first thing that comes to mind is abortion, it's legal but immoral. I think maybe that's the type of laws he was thinking of. Otherwise, he puits a good case about not smoking. Shoot, I smoked for 30 yrs, nobody would have known unless I let it be known. I know all the arguments for pot and I know the pitfalls too. I would NEVER recommend smoking pot to anyone. I see too many people who think pot is harmless go crazy and do stupid stuff to get it, it's not harmless and it is addictive no matter what's said about it. Otherwise, why would so-called Christian parents lose their house over it or why would someone on parole for it risk going back to prison for it??? Why would someone on work release give it all up just for a few tokes, esp if you've been off it for months? If you believe it's not addicting, I got some ocean front property in Nebraska I want to unload... |

2 | Why is marijuana use prohibited? | Heb 13:17 | charis | 68228
Dear Norrie, Greetings in the name of Jesus! I have yet to hear from Steve yet for clarification, so I will just answer your comment. Laws prohibiting drug use are quite different from laws allowing immoral action. We are not made to abort babies. (Please! I am NOT putting up for the abortion laws in America! The laws in Japan are even worse!) Unless a law specifically prohibits us from serving God, we are to obey. True, there are some laws that might be interpreted as so, but drug use isn't one of them. :-) Indeed, "Steve" was being very gracious to "jini" while discouraging the use of marijuana. Norrie, I love you, but I gotta say this: You THINK nobody would have known! True, SOME may not have known, but isn't sin like that? We usually are convinced that it is not evident, and that's why we continue! If marijuana has the effects that I know it has, then these were evident even if nobody knew the root cause. So... a person who smokes pot 'without letting on to anyone' is living in denial and-or a great liar! :-) Either way, those 'quiet tokers' are not 'OK' in God's sight. Again, I speak from some personal experience, and abundant experience by association. I am so happy to be SAVED! Now about that property... is it sandy beach? ;-) In Christ Jesus, charis |

Exactly how sandy do you want your beach, whatever you want. :) OK, we have determined smoking pot in not good in any way possible at all, now if we can just get the world to understand that! |

4 | Why is marijuana use prohibited? | Heb 13:17 | Hank | 68268
Hi, Norrie. In re smoking pot is wrong, you say "now if we can just get the world to understand that." My dear girl, he who can get the "world" to understand that two and two are four will have accomplished a unique feat the likes of which no other person, living or dead, has ever come remotely close to accomplishing! Having been on this forum nearly as long as I, you doubtlessly are prepared to agree that it is all but impossible, even here, to effect anything resembling unanimity of opinion on any issue. If someone ventured to say, for instance, that the majority of facial tissue is white, another would say, "No, not true. In the absence of light, all tissue is black." Could that be called, do you suppose, shedding light on the issue of tissue? --Hank
