1 | More on faith? | Heb 11:1 | charis | 6137 | ||
Dear Mylwa, Good Scripture. I would like to ask for a bit more. As to the same for all belivers, why does Jesus use the terms "little faith" and " great faith?" If these are meaningful, how do we lose or gain faith? Blessings in Christ Jesus, charis |

Little faith is because we do not focus on God. In Mat. 6:20, we worry about clothes. We forget what He does in nature. The 12 were looking at the storm and not Him (Mat. 8:26). In Mark 4:40 he asked. "Do you still have no faith?" Mark 6:6 shows they have lack of faith ... they did not believe it could happen. Also, see Mark 16:14 - this is after He rose again. We forget what God has provided in the past (Mat. 16:8-10). Peter was told he had little faith (Mat. 14:31). He had to have great faith, focused on Christ, to walk on the water. So his faith increased, then decreased. In Luke 17:5 the apostles asked Jesus, "Increase our faith!" So it can increase. He commended the centurion for his faith (Luke 7:9) who all Jesus had to do is speak the word. The Canaanite woaman persisted and was healed (Mat. 15:28). Notice that they were not Jews. Steve |
