1 | Infallibility of the Bible questioned. | 2 Tim 3:16 | Uh-Oh...Turtle | 3772 | ||
If the bible is supposed to be the infallible, direct word of God written not by men but by God thru men, then why does it contain so many contradictions? ie, Flood story in Genesis 6:19,20 and then Gen 7:2,3. The two conflicting accounts of creation etc... Thanks. |

Hi there, In Genesis 6:19, God told Noah"two of every sort".In verse 20 he just broke those instructions down further.They are for repopulation of the earth. In Chapter 7 he adds further instructions by bringing in 7 of the "clean" beasts, 6 for repopulation and 1 for sacrifice. Because the clean were for sacrifice to God; and therefore, in honour to him, more of them were preserved, and then God reiterates that he wanted 2 of the unclean beasts. Thanks to God that he wanted more sheep on board than lions or tigers. There are no conflicting stories in the Bible. My advice is, before you/anyone starts to read the Word at any time, ask the Lord to show you his truths, to impart to you his wisdom. It's ok to ask questions if one is confused. When you get answers to your questions, you can decide in your mind and spirit what to accpet and what to reject. No one knows all when it comes to the word of God. I often confess this scripture to God when I pray which is Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not". Hope this helps Barry |
