1 | Is the church is infallible? | 1 Tim 3:15 | Mommapbs | 136723
Greetings Al - Where do you see the keys to the kingdom of heaven as the Key of David - THE key of authority? Jesus alone holds that Key. imo, I don't see Him sharing that with Peter, the pope or anyone else. I would not entrust anyone with the "key" to my house except the Lord. 2 Tim 1:12 Rev 3:7 He who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens, says this: Who HAS the key of David; Who is the "HE" in this verse? - it is NOT Peter; it is NOT the pope; it is NOT the RC Church - it is Jesus. How does your position "the church is the truth" compare to what Jesus declared about Himself in John 14:6 (I am the truth) and about God's Word in John 17:17 (Your Word is truth - See also John 1:1)? Are you claiming that the Roman Catholic Church is Divine? Jesus warns us: 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or 'There He is,' do not believe him." Mt 24:23 Re: Mt 16:18. The Roman Catholic Church and the catholic church are two different entities. The "catholic" church of Mt 16:18 is the church universal, the body of Christ; His witnesses. The other is an organization of men based in Rome. We are redeemed of the Lord, but no man is infallible. Only God is infallible; the church, being made up of men and women with sin natures is not infallible. Peter was not infallible, he denied the Lord. He is not the "rock" upon which Christ's Church is built. The ROCK upon which Christ build's His church is the testimony of who He is as revealed by the Holy Spirit to Peter,(v 16). The church builds on the rock - JESUS - by obedience to Christ, not by obedience to any man. Luke 6:46-49. Where does God's Word cite that the Holy Spirit is only given to the Roman Catholic Church? The Holy Spirit is given to all those who believe in Jesus, not just the Roman Catholic Church.(John 7:39). Membership in the body of Christ is a work of God 1 Cor 12:13. Please refrain from witholding the cup from those who are not registered with Rome! Peace to you, mommapbs |

All I have to say is read the whole Chapter slowly and understand the words literally, don not add your own personal interpretations nor try to refute them with other similar verses. Unless you read the whole Bible and understand what it says you will never understand his words. If you believed that there is one church who compiled the New Testament it will also be the one church who will have sole authority to define it. God Bless Jun |

Al, I would like to offer a little background history. I have been on this forum since November 2001 and have established friendships with a number of the other longtime members with whom you are interacting. If you search my archived posts you will see that we have even covered much of the same territory being covered now. During my time here, other posters, now gone, have made intemperate attacks on the Catholic Church. They were rebuked by the same people with whom you are interacting. The posting privileges of the abusers were revoked after abuse complaints, not by me but, by other Protestants on this site. Your will notice that one of the rules here is against pushing denominational biases and also against Arminan / Calvinist debates. This is an in house Protestant dispute. Some have been revoked because of violations of that rule. I hope you will post on threads other than Catholic / Protestant controversies since this is really a Bible Study Forum and there are many areas of interest in which we have common ground with our "separated brethren." This is a place for civil and charitable study of biblical questions. Making one's point and moving on without expecting agreement or conversion is important. Otherwise this site will become nothing but an endless debate forum. Charity and a broad interest in scriptural questions and study is essential to longevity on this Forum. I look forward to seeing your posts on other threads. Emmaus |

Dear Al - Thanks for your felicitous response to Emmaus' note. Emmaus who, as you know, is a Catholic, has endeared himself to many members of the Forum. I personally have the highest esteem for this Christian gentleman and love him and fully accept him as a brother in Christ, and I'm a "Southern Baptist Protestant" -- that's one of the worst kinds of Protestants you can ever hope to find :-) Except as Emmaus has noted, this Forum by and large has not been a Protestant fortress sealed off from and antagonistic toward our Catholic brothers. But, again as Emmaus has noted, it does have its guidelines, one of which is the prohibition against promoting or dwelling excessively on one's denomination's dogmatics. When the occasion calls for it, it's o.k. to state quietly and briefly a tenet of one's denomination -- and then move on. ....... In addition to the ban against touting one's denominational bias, but closely akin to it, is posting disparagingly of other belief systems that are generally admitted to be orthodox beliefs. For example, my denomination among several other Protestant bodies, holds to the doctrine of the perseverence of the saints (a.k.a. the eternal security of the believer, a.k.a. once saved, always saved). It is unsettling to see this doctrine called 'satanic,' an injudicious term to use of a doctrine to which a vast number of Christian believers hold. I trust and believe that in future you will temper your language on this doctrine as well as other matters. Perhaps none of us has attained a state of holiness and perfection that empowers us with the authority to cast the first stone. Well, that ends my speech, Al, and with it I extend the right hand of Christian fellowship and love to you, my brother in Christ. --Hank

I know that to be true follower of Christ is to tell the full truth regardless who disagree with you I also know that truth hurts specially when you were brought up and been lied and deceived for many years. I don't think this is what Jesus plan for us to preach social gospel (fellowship) because it only hurt people deeper later on when they found out that they were lied and deceived to by their false ministers or pastors. Jesus Christ did not found his church on the concept of "Feel Good" church most (if not all) of the Protestant churches or denominations emphasize too much on "social gospel" do not preach to me that will offend my social life style (example: gay, abortion or divorce) preach me the words only I want to hear like "No matter what lifestyle I chose to live as long I have Jesus I am save" It is also sad that most Protestant churches looks more like their preacher is the center of their worship services instead of “Eyes on Jesus” it’s more becoming like “Eyes on the Preacher” just watch the TBN some churches don’t have crosses anymore first they took the image of Jesus from the tree because it’s idolatry and associated to the Catholic church and now they took the crosses out of their churches from their pulpit what's next the Bible? The 2 pictures in my site below are self explanatory http://www.geocities.com/junmeskie/Worship.html This is my only true and honest observations. God Bless Al |

Hi Al, We must be very careful when mentioning different denominations on the forum with respect to finger pointing; it can lead to nothing but ill feelings. Try to stick with what the Bible says and use Scripture if you will and that way the Lord can do the stepping on the toes! Have a great day, CDBJ |
