1 | Who is he who restrains?ebrain. | 2 Thess 2:7 | skccab | 188022
Hi all I agree with lionheart, Mark, and InGodITrust that it is the Church and the Holy Ghost that is removed. Without true believers standing together holding up shields of corporate faith, there is nothing to hold back the evil that is all around us. (While we are here the battle is great, but evil can only win small skirmishes.) And there will be a short period where there are no believers, save the 144,000. Whether the Holy Spirit is once again available to any believer (and I believe that He is or will be) or only to the 144,000 and the 2 witnesses is a whole other discussion. Just my 2cents worth blessings cheri |

2 | Who is he who restrains?ebrain. | 2 Thess 2:7 | mark d seyler | 188024
Hi Cheri, and all! Just to be clear, I don't personally agree that the church necessarily plays a part in this particular restraining of the mystery of iniquity. I don't say that the church can't be partaking in that role, just that I don't see that supported by the Scriptures. This is the only place that I am aware of that speaks of this restraining, and the restrainer is spoken of using masculine and neuter genders, but not the feminine gender of the church. It could be that the restrainer ceases restraining before or after the church is removed, or the restrainer could cease restraining as the church is being removed. I just want to say that the Scriptures do not explicitly make the connection between the restraining of the mystery of iniquity and the presence of the church. At least as far as I can tell. Love in Christ, Mark |

3 | Who is the restrainer? | 2 Thess 2:7 | InGodITrust | 188032
Greetings Mark, Always appreciate what you have to say. Have you given much thought to (possibly) the restrainers activity all throughout history? Maybe this is just something I have contimplated. In light of what scriptures say, the tremendous evil that abides in all of men's hearts, do you think "the restrainer" has been at work all along? I have thought quite a bit about this. I believe (just an opinion based on what I've seen) the restrainer has been at work since the fall. I truly think that mankind would have readily destroyed each other long ago. I think God has, all along, restrained the evil in mankind. Therefore, leading into the "great tribulation," where the evil intents of man's heart will run wild, that God will withdraw His restraining. This accounts for the tremendous evil and chaos that will persue. Therefore, the church, meaning each individual believer, each one possessing the Holy Spirit, that now God withdraws His holy (us) presents from this world to judge it like never before. Thus whatever or whoever is "the restrainer" would naturally need to be "withdrawn." What-do-you-think? InGodITrust |

4 | Who is the restrainer? | 2 Thess 2:7 | Searcher56 | 188034
God's day to you, InGodITrust, Is "withdrawn" the same as "taken out of the way" ... for the Bible says the latter? Notice this is single, not plural. Searcher |

5 | Please clarify............?? | 2 Thess 2:7 | InGodITrust | 188036
Searcher, You got me, please give references for both? I am not sure (at all) what your question is. Waiting for your reply..... InGodITrust |

6 | Please clarify............?? | 2 Thess 2:7 | Searcher56 | 188039
You said 'Thus whatever or whoever is "the restrainer" would naturally need to be ... "withdrawn."' - The Bible says "taken out of the way". Why the difference? Mark mentioned restrainers (plural) ... but the Bible make him singular. |

7 | Withdrawn or taken out of the way? | 2 Thess 2:7 | InGodITrust | 188041
Searcher, Guess it depends on what version of the Bible you are reading?? What is the difference, withdrawn or taken out of the way? Are they not one and the same? Still here...... InGodITrust |

8 | Withdrawn or taken out of the way? | 2 Thess 2:7 | Searcher56 | 188072
I think withdrawn is completely out of the way, like taking a chess piece off the board, and out of the way is like moving a pawn, so the queen can move.
9 | Withdrawn or taken out of the way? | 2 Thess 2:7 | mark d seyler | 188075
Hi Searcher, As I read the passage, its "becomes out the middle", so that would, to me, be more like the pawn being moved, out of the middle betwee the queen and the rest of the board. Love in Christ, Mark |
