1 | "Women being silent" | Gal 3:28 | Yedida | 218363 | ||
Shalom laborer, Nice to meet you. I liked what you had to say about women keeping silent. Like someone here on SBF has said so aptly, some time ago - not everything written as a command in the bible is for us today. Otherwise, we would all be proud owners of Arks!! You can call me a female chauvinist if you wish, but I would like to point out a few things: 1st - Adam was formed from the dust of the earth OUTSIDE of the Garden. It is commonly agreed that as far as human perfection goes, Adam was perfect - so, Eve was Formed from something that was already perfect and INSIDE of the Garden. 2nd - If you check the Hebrew word that was poorly translated as "rib" you will find it was the same word used when speaking about the side of the Ark that Noah built. Woman was NOT fromed from some unnecessary, disposable part of Adam, she came from his side, without which he could not live. 3rd - Eve may have been deceived but Adam made a conscious decision to be disobedient... This is my story, and I'm sticking to it :o) Yedida Solomon |

Dear Yedida, This may be an over generalization, but it seems to me that women think more lucidly (both deductively, intuitively, and creatively), feel more genuinely, relate more naturally, articulate more fully, respond to the conscience more readily, minister to others more freely, etc. In view of the various virtues of value to the believer, women are far more apt than are men. I do not mean to say that women do not have issues unique to their gender, what I'm talking about is simple aptitude. Nonetheless, our Lord has not based our various roles on aptitude. Frankly, that has confused me since becoming a Christian. How am I to love and lead my wife the way Christ loves and leads the church, when I am so frequently fallible and naturally inept? Wives have the same difficulty, often, in reverse. None of it is possible outside of the Gospel. We must be men and women transformed by the Gospel and being transformed by the Gospel. That which comes most naturally and seems so right to us is rarely consistent with God's eternal purpose. Usually, quite the contrary. Praise God that He not only changes us, but equips us for that which He calls us to do. Just some thoughts on the topic. In Him, Doc |
